Bollywood singer Shaan and Wife buy three luxury flats in Mumbai for Rs4.764 billion

MUMBAI: Bollywood singer Shantanu Mukherjee, popularly known as Shaan, and his wife Radhika Mukherjee have purchased three luxury apartments in Mumbai for a combined price of Rs4.764 billion Indian rupees, according to property registration documents. The three apartments are located on the higher floors of the Palmiera project on Turner Road in Bandra West, one of Mumbai’s most sought-after residential areas. The properties have a combined area of 6,267.87 square feet and come with a total of nine car parking spaces. According to the registration documents, each of the three apartments was purchased for Rs1.588 billion Indian rupees, bringing the total value of the transaction to approximately Rs4.764 billion. The couple also paid a total of Rs270 million in stamp duty on the property purchase. The registrations for the three apartments were completed separately on August 20, 2026. Following the purchase, Shaan and Radhika combined the three individual apartments to create a single, larger residential unit. The registration process for the newly combined residential property was also completed on the same day. The luxury condominium on Turner Road has a connection with Bollywood history. The building previously served as the residence of veteran Bollywood actress Mala Sinha, adding to the property’s prominence within Mumbai’s entertainment and real estate circles. The high-value purchase by Shaan and Radhika comes at a time when Mumbai’s luxury housing market continues to witness significant activity, with high-net-worth individuals and celebrities increasingly investing in premium residential properties in prime locations. Bandra West, where the apartments are situated, is among Mumbai’s most prestigious neighbourhoods and is known for its high-end residential developments, celebrity homes, restaurants and entertainment venues. Properties in the area command some of the highest prices in the city due to their location and limited availability of premium housing. The latest purchase is not the couple’s first major real estate investment. Last year, Shaan and his wife reportedly purchased a luxury bungalow in Pune for around Rs1 billion Indian rupees. Shaan, 54, is one of the well-known voices in the Indian music industry. He has performed numerous Bollywood songs and has also worked as a television presenter and music show host. Over the years, he has established a prominent position in the Hindi music industry. The purchase of three apartments and their subsequent conversion into a single residential unit reflects the growing preference among affluent buyers for customised luxury homes in Mumbai’s prime locations. Such properties offer larger living spaces, privacy and premium amenities while also serving as significant investments in one of India’s most expensive real estate markets. With the latest acquisition, Shaan and Radhika have further expanded their property portfolio, adding another high-value asset to their real estate investments in India.

Trump criticizes oil companies over high profits a…

US President Donald Trump has criticized major oil companies over their growing profits, saying that energy firms are earning excessive amounts of money amid rising fuel prices. His remarks come as global oil markets face uncertainty due to geopolitical tensions and disruptions affecting energy supplies. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said he supports free markets but expressed dissatisfaction with what he described as unusually high earnings by oil companies. He stated that while businesses have the right to operate freely, current market conditions have allowed some energy companies to generate profits beyond what he considers reasonable. The increase in crude oil prices has significantly boosted the revenues of several major energy companies worldwide. Market uncertainty linked to tensions between the United States and Iran has contributed to higher oil prices, creating favorable conditions for large oil producers and companies. Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil giant Saudi Aramco reported a significant increase in quarterly profit, announcing earnings of $33.4 billion, compared with $25.2 billion during the same period last year. This represents a substantial rise in profits. US-based energy companies have also recorded strong financial results. ExxonMobil reported quarterly earnings of $14.5 billion, more than double compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, Chevron posted a profit of $12.1 billion, marking a significant increase from the same period previously. British energy company Shell also reported nearly $10 billion in quarterly profits, making it one of the company’s strongest financial performances in recent years. While energy companies benefit from higher crude oil prices, consumers in the United States have faced increased fuel costs. Average petrol prices have risen significantly since the beginning of the conflict-related market disruptions, adding further pressure on households already dealing with inflation. Fuel prices have become a major political issue ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. Lowering petrol costs has emerged as a key priority for the Trump administration, as high energy prices often influence public opinion and economic sentiment. A major factor behind the rise in oil prices has been disruption in key shipping routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy corridors. Reduced oil transportation through the region has affected global supply and contributed to market volatility. Although diplomatic efforts have reportedly aimed at reducing tensions and improving shipping access, uncertainty remains in global energy markets. Security concerns in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait have also affected oil transportation routes. Energy analysts believe that major oil companies may continue benefiting from elevated prices in the short term. However, they suggest that increased global supply or improved conditions in strategic waterways could eventually push crude oil prices lower. The ongoing debate highlights the challenge faced by governments worldwide: balancing energy company profits, market stability, and the need to provide affordable fuel for consumers.

Transporters join fuel dealers’ strike against d…

Transport associations across Pakistan have announced support for the Petroleum Dealers Association’s demands and warned of a possible suspension of transport services following a planned shutdown of petrol pumps. The All Pakistan Public Transport Owners Association said public transport operations could also come to a halt if fuel stations close at midnight. Association President Nadeem Hussain said the transport sector would support the petrol dealers’ stance against the government’s policy of fixing petrol and diesel prices on a daily basis. He demanded that the government withdraw the daily fuel pricing mechanism, saying it has created uncertainty and increased financial pressure on transport operators. Hussain said frequent changes in fuel prices directly affect transport businesses because fuel is one of the biggest operating costs for public transport owners. He warned that a continued increase in petroleum prices could further burden both transporters and passengers. The Pakistan Mini Mazda Goods Transport Association also announced its support for the strike call by petrol station owners. Association President Sher Ali Chaudhry said mini Mazda vehicles would stop operating from midnight as part of the protest against daily increases in petroleum prices. He criticized the government’s decision to revise fuel prices regularly, saying it has made it difficult for transporters to manage expenses and maintain their services. Chaudhry said rising fuel costs have severely affected the transport sector, increasing operational expenses and reducing the income of vehicle owners and drivers. Both transport associations urged the government to reconsider the current fuel pricing policy and take steps to provide relief to transporters.
