Bollywood singer Shaan and Wife buy three luxury flats in Mumbai for Rs4.764 billion

MUMBAI: Bollywood singer Shantanu Mukherjee, popularly known as Shaan, and his wife Radhika Mukherjee have purchased three luxury apartments in Mumbai for a combined price of Rs4.764 billion Indian rupees, according to property registration documents.

The three apartments are located on the higher floors of the Palmiera project on Turner Road in Bandra West, one of Mumbai’s most sought-after residential areas. The properties have a combined area of 6,267.87 square feet and come with a total of nine car parking spaces.

According to the registration documents, each of the three apartments was purchased for Rs1.588 billion Indian rupees, bringing the total value of the transaction to approximately Rs4.764 billion. The couple also paid a total of Rs270 million in stamp duty on the property purchase.

The registrations for the three apartments were completed separately on August 20, 2026. Following the purchase, Shaan and Radhika combined the three individual apartments to create a single, larger residential unit. The registration process for the newly combined residential property was also completed on the same day.

The luxury condominium on Turner Road has a connection with Bollywood history. The building previously served as the residence of veteran Bollywood actress Mala Sinha, adding to the property’s prominence within Mumbai’s entertainment and real estate circles.

The high-value purchase by Shaan and Radhika comes at a time when Mumbai’s luxury housing market continues to witness significant activity, with high-net-worth individuals and celebrities increasingly investing in premium residential properties in prime locations.

Bandra West, where the apartments are situated, is among Mumbai’s most prestigious neighbourhoods and is known for its high-end residential developments, celebrity homes, restaurants and entertainment venues. Properties in the area command some of the highest prices in the city due to their location and limited availability of premium housing.

The latest purchase is not the couple’s first major real estate investment. Last year, Shaan and his wife reportedly purchased a luxury bungalow in Pune for around Rs1 billion Indian rupees.

Shaan, 54, is one of the well-known voices in the Indian music industry. He has performed numerous Bollywood songs and has also worked as a television presenter and music show host. Over the years, he has established a prominent position in the Hindi music industry.

The purchase of three apartments and their subsequent conversion into a single residential unit reflects the growing preference among affluent buyers for customised luxury homes in Mumbai’s prime locations. Such properties offer larger living spaces, privacy and premium amenities while also serving as significant investments in one of India’s most expensive real estate markets.

With the latest acquisition, Shaan and Radhika have further expanded their property portfolio, adding another high-value asset to their real estate investments in India.

Former Queen bassist Barry Mitchell dies at 80, le…

The Queen family is mourning the loss of Barry Mitchell, an early bassist who played an important role during the legendary rock band’s formative years. Mitchell died on August 17, 2026, according to reports, prompting tributes from fans and people connected to Queen. (The Sun) Although Mitchell was not part of Queen’s classic lineup, his contribution came during a crucial period when the band was still finding its sound. He joined Queen in 1970 after original bassist Mike Grose left. The official Queen live archive confirms that Mitchell played the next 11 shows during the band’s earliest performing days. (Queen Online) At the time, Queen consisted of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and Mitchell on bass. The group had not yet become the worldwide rock phenomenon fans know today. John Deacon would join later in 1971 and complete the classic lineup. Mitchell’s time with Queen was brief. He remained with the band for around six months before leaving in early 1971. Reports say he played approximately 13 performances, mostly in the United Kingdom. (The Sun) Even though his time in the group was short, Mitchell was present while some of Queen’s earliest songs were being developed. His period with the band included work around tracks such as “Liar,” “Son and Daughter” and “Keep Yourself Alive,” giving him a unique connection to the band’s beginnings. (Queen Vault) Queen’s official archivist Greg Brooks confirmed the sad news and remembered Mitchell warmly. He described the former bassist’s stories about Queen’s early years as fascinating and said he would be greatly missed. (Edinburgh Live) For longtime Queen fans, Mitchell represented a piece of the band’s history that is often overlooked. Before Queen filled stadiums and produced some of rock’s most famous albums, the group was a young band playing small venues and experimenting with its musical identity. Mitchell later returned to music after spending some time away from the industry. He also remained connected with the Queen fan community, attending conventions and sharing memories from his time alongside Mercury, May and Taylor. (The Sun) His death marks another poignant moment for fans looking back at Queen’s remarkable journey. While Barry Mitchell may not have been part of the lineup that eventually conquered the world, he was there when the story was only beginning. His contribution lasted just months, but his place in Queen’s history will remain part of the band’s extraordinary early chapter.

Amaal Malik breaks silence on Awarapan 2 song controversy

Music composer Amaal Malik has responded to the criticism surrounding one of the newly released songs from the upcoming film Awarapan 2, claiming that a coordinated campaign is being carried out against both the movie and its soundtrack. The sequel stars Emraan Hashmi and follows the 2007 cult classic Awarapan, a film remembered for its emotional storyline as well as its memorable soundtrack. The original movie featured several popular songs, including Toh Phir Aao, Maula Maula, and Tera Mera Rishta, which became fan favorites over the years. For Awarapan 2, Amaal Malik has been entrusted with composing the film’s music. As part of the soundtrack, he recently introduced a fresh version of Toh Phir Aao, originally performed by Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid. The recreated track received attention from listeners, with many comparing it to the much-loved original. The discussion intensified after the release of another song from the film, Ye Awarapan. Soon after it was released, the track sparked mixed reactions across social media. While some listeners praised the composition and vocals, others criticized the new version, leading to an online debate among music fans. Breaking his silence on the criticism, Amaal Malik shared a statement on X, where he suggested that the backlash was not entirely organic. According to the composer, there is a well-organized public relations campaign being carried out by certain rivals within the film industry who do not want either the film or its music to succeed. Without naming any individuals or organizations, Malik alleged that paid efforts were being used to influence public opinion against the soundtrack. He argued that such campaigns were unnecessary and advised those behind them to focus their resources elsewhere instead of targeting his work. In his message, the composer also remarked that people should save their funds for their own future film projects rather than spending money on attempts to damage someone else’s release. His comments appeared to be a subtle response to critics while expressing confidence in the music and the film’s reception. The statement quickly gained attention online, with fans reacting on both sides of the debate. Supporters defended Malik, saying that online criticism can sometimes be amplified by organized campaigns, while others maintained that audiences are entitled to express genuine opinions about new music. The discussion has continued across various social media platforms since his remarks. One of the highlights of Ye Awarapan is its vocals by renowned playback singer Arijit Singh. The song marks another notable addition to his extensive catalog and has attracted significant interest from fans eager to hear his latest work. His performance has been widely appreciated by many listeners despite the controversy surrounding the release. With Awarapan 2 preparing for its theatrical release, the conversation around its soundtrack continues to generate buzz. Whether the debate ultimately affects the film’s success remains to be seen, but the latest exchange has ensured that the movie and its music remain firmly in the spotlight.

Mini Mathur opens up on her intense ‘Alliance’ win

Mini Mathur is looking back on her journey after being crowned the winner of Alliance. The 50-year-old actress recently sat down for a candid chat about her time on the show. Speaking with the team of Varinder Chawla, Mathur described her experience on the unscripted format as “superbly exciting.” She did not hold back while reflecting on the highs and lows of the competition. She admitted she joined the show to push herself out of her comfort zone. Having hosted several reality formats before, this marked her first time competing as an actual contestant. Mathur confessed she initially doubted whether she’d fit into the format at all. She said Alliance turned out to be built around physical games, tasks, quizzes and leadership skills, particularly around keeping teams united. She explained that the absence of a previous season made the challenge more appealing to her. With no blueprint to follow, she felt it was the right moment to test herself in unfamiliar territory. Her first real test, she said, was simply figuring out if she could survive even one day inside the format. The moment she stepped into the space, though, her doubts faded quickly. Mathur revealed she spent six weeks completely cut off from her phone and calendar. She said the isolation left her mind sharper, her strategies clearer, and her focus stronger than before. She added that she is walking away from the experience feeling better than ever, crediting the win itself for part of that. Beyond the trophy, she said she formed genuine friendships and picked up fresh insights into industries like gaming and streaming. Mathur was also quick to clarify that she holds no grudges against any of her fellow contestants. She said she valued every ally she crossed paths with during her time in the house. She closed the conversation on a firmly positive note, saying she has nothing negative to say about the entire experience. For Mathur, the journey seems to have been as rewarding personally as it was competitively.
