Pakistan defeat South Korea to clinch test series …

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan’s national hockey team continued its impressive run by defeating South Korea in the third match of the four-Test series, securing an unassailable 3-0 lead and sealing the series with one game still to be played.

The third Test, played at the Nasir Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad, turned out to be an exciting contest filled with momentum shifts, dramatic goals, and a spirited comeback by the home side. Pakistan displayed resilience and determination, recovering from two separate deficits before claiming a memorable victory in front of the home crowd.

South Korea made the stronger start and took the lead in the opening quarter. Their early pressure paid off in the 11th minute, when Lim Deun found the back of the net with a well-taken goal, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage. Pakistan attempted to respond before the end of the first quarter but was unable to create a clear scoring opportunity.

The second quarter saw Pakistan dominate possession and launch several attacks on the Korean goal. The hosts earned promising opportunities and repeatedly tested the opposition’s defence, but they failed to convert their chances into goals. South Korea remained organised at the back and successfully protected its narrow lead. As a result, neither side managed to score during the second quarter, and the visitors went into halftime leading 1-0.

Pakistan finally restored parity in the third quarter when Hayat scored an important equaliser, lifting the spirits of both the players and the spectators. However, the celebrations were short-lived as South Korea responded quickly. Kim scored to put the visitors back in front, allowing Korea to end the third quarter with a 2-1 advantage.

The fourth and final quarter produced the most thrilling action of the match, with a total of four goals scored. Pakistan came out with renewed energy and determination, pressing aggressively in search of another equaliser. Their persistence paid off as they erased South Korea’s lead and brought the match level once again.

The visitors briefly regained the advantage by scoring another goal to make it 3-2 increasing the pressure on the Pakistani side. However, Pakistan refused to give up. During the final ten minutes, the home team produced an outstanding display of attacking hockey, dominating possession and creating multiple scoring opportunities.

Pakistan’s relentless pressure eventually overwhelmed the Korean defence. The hosts not only equalised once more but also scored the decisive winning goal, completing a remarkable comeback. The Pakistani defence then held firm in the closing moments to preserve the lead until the final whistle, sealing another impressive victory.

With this win, Pakistan secured a commanding 3-0 lead in the four-match Test series, ensuring the series title before the final fixture. The result reflects the team’s growing confidence and consistency, providing a major boost as it continues preparations for upcoming international competitions.

Following the match, Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohiuddin Wani distributed awards to the players in recognition of their performances. The ceremony was also attended by two legendary figures of Pakistan hockey, Olympians Samiullah and Hassan Sardar, who were present as special guests and applauded the team’s fighting spirit and successful series-winning performance.

Johnny Depp unveils new look as Scrooge for upcomi…

Johnny Depp has officially unveiled his dramatic transformation into Ebenezer Scrooge, giving fans their first look at his highly anticipated new film, Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. The veteran actor appears almost unrecognizable in the role, sporting a weathered Victorian look complete with gray facial hair, bushy eyebrows, a top hat, a long overcoat, and a walking cane. The striking makeover has already generated excitement among movie lovers eager to see Depp return to a major studio production.  The first trailer introduces Ebenezer as a darker and more atmospheric adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless novel A Christmas Carol. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ti West, who is best known for his horror films, the movie blends classic storytelling with supernatural suspense. Instead of presenting a traditional holiday tale, the film leans into the eerie encounters between Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, promising a fresh take on the beloved story.  Depp recently surprised fans by appearing in full Scrooge costume during San Diego Comic-Con, where he stayed in character while greeting the audience. The actor playfully interacted with fans and cosplayers dressed as some of his most iconic characters, including Captain Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, and Willy Wonka. His theatrical entrance added to the buzz surrounding the film and highlighted his commitment to the role.  The upcoming movie also boasts an impressive supporting cast. Andrea Riseborough portrays the Ghost of Christmas Past, while legendary actor Ian McKellen takes on the role of Jacob Marley. Rupert Grint stars as Bob Cratchit, with Daisy Ridley and Sam Claflin also joining the ensemble. Together, the cast aims to breathe new life into one of literature’s most enduring holiday classics.  For Depp, Ebenezer represents an important milestone in his career. It marks his first leading role in a major Hollywood studio film in several years and showcases his signature ability to disappear into eccentric and complex characters. Throughout his career, Depp has earned praise for memorable performances in films such as Edward Scissorhands, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. His portrayal of Scrooge continues that tradition of transformative acting.  Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 13, 2026. With its haunting visuals, star-studded cast, and a darker interpretation of Dickens’ classic tale, the film is already shaping up to be one of the year’s most talked-about releases. Fans will soon discover whether Johnny Depp’s haunting version of Ebenezer Scrooge becomes another unforgettable performance in his celebrated career.

Karan Johar revisits Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna journey

Karan Johar has taken a nostalgic look back at Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna as the much-discussed romantic drama completes two decades since its theatrical debut. Released on August 11, 2006, the film brought together Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan in a story that explored the uncertainties of marriage, emotional distance and complicated personal relationships. Set against the backdrop of New York, the film moved away from the conventional Bollywood portrayal of romance and family life. Its unconventional storyline quickly became a talking point, dividing viewers between those who appreciated its honesty and those who felt its themes challenged traditional values. Reflecting on the film’s journey, Johar recalled the wide range of reactions it generated after reaching cinemas. The filmmaker said he encountered everything from strong appreciation for the movie’s daring subject to severe criticism over the choices made by its characters. He also revisited a pre-release screening that gave him an early indication of just how strongly audiences might respond. During the screening, Johar noticed an audience member becoming visibly uncomfortable during a sequence involving Dev and Maya, the characters played by Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji. Another memory from that period involved a mother who approached Johar after watching the film. She questioned why he had chosen to build a story around divorce and troubled relationships rather than create another conventional family drama. With the benefit of hindsight, Johar has also been open about the movie’s imperfections. He acknowledged that its grand production, elaborate presentation and several songs contributed to an oversized cinematic experience, with some elements that he now believes could have been handled differently. However, Johar continues to stand by the central purpose of the film. He has maintained that the story was not intended to present infidelity as something admirable. Instead, it sought to examine the emotional consequences of decisions made within and outside marriage and the impact those choices can have on everyone involved. For Johar, the film’s enduring appeal lies in its willingness to avoid straightforward answers. Relationships, he suggested, cannot always be understood through simple definitions of right and wrong, particularly when emotions, expectations and personal struggles become intertwined. The filmmaker also acknowledged the contribution of the cast and crew who helped transform the ambitious idea into a large-scale production. Two decades later, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna remains a film that continues to invite debate. While its themes divided audiences when it first arrived, its exploration of imperfect relationships and difficult emotional decisions has allowed the movie to remain part of conversations around love, marriage and human choices.

Jared Leto faces sexual misconduct allegations

American actor and musician Jared Leto is facing new public allegations of sexual misconduct after 10 women came forward in a BBC documentary titled _Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret_. The film focuses on claims that span more than a decade, between 2002 and 2016. During that period Leto was in his 30s and 40s. He is now 54. The women allege they encountered Leto when they were teenagers or in their early 20s. Four of the women detail what they describe as criminal sexual conduct. One woman said she was sexually assaulted in a motel bathroom when she was 17. Another said Leto threatened her with sexual assault when she was 19. A third alleged she had sex with Leto in California at age 17. In California the legal age of consent is 18, meaning the act would be classified as statutory rape. She told the BBC that when she raised the issue of age, Leto dismissed it. A fourth woman alleged she was groomed by Leto from age 16, including receiving multiple sexually explicit phone calls in which he suggested they have sex. Beyond those four, four other women told the BBC they received repeated phone calls from Leto that were strange and often sexual in nature while they were still young. They said the calls left them uncomfortable and confused at the time. The BBC said it attempted to verify the accounts. According to the broadcaster, friends and family members of several women confirmed they were told about the encounters with Leto at the time they happened. In some cases the BBC said it had reviewed photographs and messages that supported parts of the women’s statements. The documentary also includes testimony from two men who worked with Leto’s band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, for many years. Both described an uneasy atmosphere among crew members regarding Leto’s interactions with young female fans. They said staff observed Leto inviting teenage girls backstage to his dressing room and to the house where the band was recording. “I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big,” one of them said in the film. Leto did not respond to the BBC’s requests for comment ahead of the documentary’s release. Representatives for the actor have not issued a public statement as of press time. The program also references the broader conversation around Leto online. The BBC reported it had counted more than 120 separate allegations posted online over the years relating to Leto’s behavior toward women, some of them dating back more than a decade. Leto is a well-known Hollywood actor and Academy Award winner. His credits include _Dallas Buyers Club_, for which he won Best Supporting Actor, _Suicide Squad_, and the recent _Masters of the Universe_. He is also the lead singer of the rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. No criminal charges have been filed in connection with the allegations detailed in the documentary.

Italian waste workers recover discarded €1m lottery ticket from mountain of refuse

An anonymous lottery player in southern Italy has successfully retrieved a winning ticket worth €1 million (£857,000) after accidentally discarding the slip into a municipal bin. The mix-up occurred at a local shop in Bitonto when a ticket scanner displayed a “non-payable” notification. Unaware that the message indicated a payout exceeding the shop’s cash limit rather than a losing ticket, the player threw the slip into a rubbish bin. Upon returning home, family members pointed out that the player’s chosen numbers, 2, 4, 8, 10, and 51, had indeed been drawn. After returning to the store, the family discovered that the bin had already been emptied by a municipal collection vehicle operated by local sanitation company SANB. The owner alerted SANB officials, who tracked down the specific bin lorry before its contents were transferred to a compactor or landfilled. “This story is nothing short of miraculous,” said Roberto Nicola Toscano, director of SANB, noting that because the incident occurred on a Sunday, the lorry’s contents had not yet been processed. Sanitation staff escorted the vehicle to a secure facility and spent two days sifting through a massive heap of municipal waste. On Tuesday morning, a refuse worker located the intact winning ticket inside a damaged bag. The lottery winner, who signed a formal agreement to cover the operational costs of the search effort, will receive the full prize sum following official validation.
