Pattaya Mayor Opens 9th Heroes Taekwondo International Championships 2026
PATTAYA, Chonburi – On July 31st, 2026 at 13:00, Pattaya City Mayor Mr. Poramese Ngampichet led the opening ceremony of the 9th Heroes Taekwondo International Championships 2026. He presented plaques of appreciation to clubs that entered athletes and awarded medals to competitors.
Joining him were Miss Ploypailin Prachumsuk, Secretary-General of the Association of Sports for the Disabled of Thailand under Royal Patronage, and Mr. Pairote Mayudee, representative of the Taekwondo Association of Thailand. Miss Cassandra Haller, competition director, delivered the report. Also present were Mr. Bancha Kullawanit, secretary to the mayor; Mr. Wachira Thongdeelert, assistant secretary to the mayor; Mr. Banlue Kullawanit, Pattaya City Council member; and other distinguished guests from related agencies. The ceremony took place at the Indoor Athletics Building of the Eastern National Sports Center in Pattaya City, Chonburi Province.

The championship is a team effort between Pattaya City, the Association of Sports for the Disabled of Thailand under Royal Patronage, and Heroes Taekwondo Club. It runs from 31 July to 2 August 2026, the second time Pattaya has hosted the event. The main objectives are to provide a platform for knowledge exchange and skill development under the concept “Taekwondo for Everyone.” Competition categories cover all ages, from under-4s through youth, juniors, seniors, and masters divisions, aiming to promote and expand taekwondo both nationally and internationally.

More than 4,000 athletes, coaches, and officials from 31 countries are participating.
Beyond sports development, the championship supports the local economy and tourism in Chonburi Province, particularly Pattaya. It enhances the city’s profile in the international sports community and reinforces its image as a “Sports City” and a hub for sports tourism.
Champions in various categories will receive royal trophies bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the first year these prestigious trophies have been awarded at the event.
The public is welcome to watch free of charge at the Eastern National Sports Center in Pattaya City, Chonburi, through 2 August, with competition sessions beginning from 08:30 daily.
