Mohammad Ali strikes early as rain interrupts Pakistan-West Indies Test

West Indies reached 49-1 at lunch on day one of the second Test against Pakistan. The opening session was cut short by rain at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on Sunday.

Having won the toss and opted to bat first, the home side made steady progress through the morning. They moved to 49-1 in just 9.5 overs before rain forced an early break in proceedings.

Brandon King was the standout batter during the shortened session. He remained unbeaten on 33 runs from 27 deliveries at the interval, having struck four boundaries along the way. His innings gave West Indies a solid platform, despite the disrupted playing conditions.

Pakistan’s lone success with the ball came through pacer Mohammad Ali. He dismissed opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul for 15 runs, drawing an edge that was well taken by Sajid Khan at deep fine leg. Chanderpaul had faced 32 deliveries before departing.

Throughout the session, Pakistan’s bowlers maintained discipline with the new ball. They created a handful of half-chances during the opening spells, testing the West Indies top order on a surface that offered some early assistance. However, a largely defensive approach from the batting side meant Pakistan weren’t able to build further pressure or add to their solitary wicket.

With rain interrupting play so early into the Test, both teams will now be keeping a close eye on the weather as the match unfolds. Given how tightly poised this series already is, any lost playing time could have a real bearing on how the remaining days shape up.

West Indies fielded a settled lineup for this Test, featuring Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Brandon King, Kavem Hodge, Shai Hope as wicketkeeper, Amir Jangoo, Justin Greaves, Roston Chase as captain, Jomel Warrican, Shamar Joseph, Kemar Roach, and Jayden Seales.

Pakistan named Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam as captain, Mohammad Rizwan behind the stumps, Salman Ali Agha, Awais Zafar, Ali Usman, Sajid Khan, Mohammad Ali, and Ubaid Shah in their playing eleven for the contest.

As the two sides look to make up for lost time, the coming sessions could prove crucial in determining which team gains the early advantage in this pivotal second Test.

Kelly Osbourne pays heartfelt tribute to Ozzy on f…

Kelly Osbourne has shared an emotional tribute to her late father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, marking the first anniversary of his death with a deeply personal message about love, loss, and grief. The television personality took to Instagram on July 22 to reflect on the profound impact her father’s passing has had on her life, nearly one year after the music icon died at the age of 76.  Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary frontman of Black Sabbath and one of heavy metal’s most influential figures, passed away on July 22, 2025, following health complications related to Parkinson’s disease and other medical conditions. His death marked the end of an extraordinary career that spanned more than five decades and left a lasting mark on the world of rock music.  In her heartfelt Instagram post, Kelly described grief as something that changes a person forever. She wrote that she not only mourns the loss of her father but also the version of herself that existed before experiencing such heartbreak. She reflected on how losing someone so important transforms every part of life, making even joyful moments feel different.  Kelly also admitted that she still finds herself wishing she could call her father for advice, share exciting news with him, or simply hear one of his jokes again. She described the pain of missing him as something she carries every day, adding that despite the heartbreak, being Ozzy’s daughter remains one of the greatest blessings of her life.  The touching tribute comes after several months in which Kelly has continued to honor her father’s memory. Earlier this year, she shared an emotional Father’s Day message and even got a tattoo inspired by Ozzy’s signature black sunglasses, a symbol closely associated with the legendary rocker throughout his career.  Fans from around the world flooded the comments section of Kelly’s tribute with messages of support, remembering Ozzy not only as the “Prince of Darkness” but also as a devoted husband, father, and cultural icon. Many thanked the Osbourne family for continuing to celebrate his legacy while openly sharing their grief.  As the first anniversary of Ozzy Osbourne’s passing is observed, tributes continue to pour in from family, friends, fellow musicians, and fans. For Kelly, however, the day is about much more than remembering a rock legend. It is about honoring the father who shaped her life, supported her through every challenge, and left behind memories that continue to guide her even in his absence.

Iran claims Trump’s Press Secretary quit over di…

The Iranian embassy in South Africa has claimed that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt resigned because she had become frustrated and disillusioned with US President Donald Trump, rather than stepping down to spend more time with her family. According to foreign media reports, the Iranian embassy shared a photograph of Leavitt appearing displeased and accompanied it with a strongly worded message accusing Trump of betraying those around him. The embassy alleged that Trump had sent others into danger while avoiding the situation himself, adding that such conduct left little room for trust or friendship. Trump has confirmed Leavitt’s resignation, while the White House rejected the Iranian embassy’s account as false. Officials also disputed the embassy’s claim that Leavitt had been with Trump during his visit to Turkey, further challenging the basis of Tehran’s allegations.

Becky G opens up about embracing complicated ideas…

Becky G is entering a new chapter in her music career, and she is no longer interested in fitting herself into just one box. The Mexican-American singer, whose birth name is Rebbeca Marie Gomez, recently opened up about the personal ideas behind her fifth studio album, Baraja Bendita. Released on August 14, 2026, the 17-track project explores identity, culture, womanhood and the complicated experiences that have shaped her. (KUNC) For Becky, the album is about embracing every part of herself rather than choosing one identity over another. She has often described herself as being “200%” — both American and Mexican. That duality has influenced her career, from her language and music to the expectations placed on her as a Latina artist. With Baraja Bendita, she decided to make that complexity part of the story. In a recent interview, Becky explained that the album represents a meeting point between Becky G, the public performer, and Rebbeca, the person behind the stage name. She described the project as a personal collaboration between those two sides of herself. (KUNC) That honesty also appears in the subjects she tackles through her songs. One example is “EPA,” a track that addresses the difficult political climate surrounding Latino communities. Rather than avoiding uncomfortable subjects, Becky uses music to create a sense of joy and safety for people who may be dealing with uncertainty. She has emphasized that Latino communities deserve spaces where they can experience happiness, even when the world around them feels heavy. (HipLatina) Other songs explore more intimate sides of her identity. Tracks such as “CHULA” embrace confidence, sensuality and womanhood, while other songs move through vulnerability, relationships and emotional complexity. The album allows those different moods to exist together instead of forcing Becky into a single image. (FemMusic) That approach is especially meaningful for an artist who began working in entertainment as a teenager. After years of being publicly defined by her language, genre and cultural background, Becky now appears determined to define herself on her own terms. The album also moves freely between musical styles, including Latin, pop, electronic and urban influences. Becky has said she does not want to be restricted to one genre or language, embracing Spanglish as another natural part of who she is. (LOS40) Ultimately, Baraja Bendita is less about becoming a new Becky G and more about accepting the woman she has always been. Through complicated ideas, personal stories and cultural themes, she is showing listeners that identity does not have to be simple. Sometimes, the most honest version of yourself is made up of many different sides.

Overnight missile barrage on Kyiv region kills 17,…

Russia launched a large scale missile assault on Kyiv and the surrounding region on Wednesday, killing at least 17 people and leveling warehouses belonging to major retail chains, according to Ukrainian officials, as Kyiv’s dwindling stock of air defence interceptors leaves the capital increasingly exposed. Explosions tore through the region overnight, lighting up the sky above the Ukrainian capital, which has faced missile attacks roughly every three to four days in recent weeks as Moscow has ramped up its aerial campaign. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Telegram that ballistic missile interceptors could have prevented the deaths recorded on Wednesday, calling on Ukraine’s international partners to replenish the country’s interceptor stocks. He said shipments of air defence missiles have arrived at only a third of the pace seen in 2025. Ukraine’s air force said its defences shot down close to 90 percent of the 115 drones Russia launched but failed to stop any of the 24 ballistic missiles or four Zircon cruise missiles fired during the same assault. Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces struck seven logistics centres in Kyiv and the wider region, claiming the sites were used to store or move dual use goods and drone components. Ukraine has struggled for months with a shortage of interceptor missiles for its US supplied Patriot systems, currently the only weapon in its arsenal able to shoot down Russian ballistic missiles traveling at many times the speed of sound. Since the outbreak of the Iran war in February, Patriot interceptors originally intended for Ukraine have instead gone to the US military and its Gulf allies. Russia has used the opening to intensify ballistic strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities even as its ground advances have slowed markedly this year. Officials said the attack injured more than 40 people in addition to those killed. At a commuter rail station in the Kyiv suburb of Brovary, rescue workers found seven bodies scattered across the platform, with an eighth victim discovered nearby in nearby bushes. Volodymyr Bigun, head of the local administration in Brovary, said residents had missed their last train home when the strike hit, and confirmed eight deaths in the district so far. He said five logistics warehouses sustained damage there, including one belonging to food retailer Fozzy, and accused Russian forces of continuing to target civilian infrastructure. Both Russia and Ukraine have consistently denied targeting civilians throughout the war, which began with Russia’s full scale invasion in February 2022. Ukraine has continued striking back at Russian territory as part of its own campaign, hitting a logistics hub belonging to Russian online retailer Wildberries in the Tula region overnight, adding to more than a dozen similar facilities Kyiv has damaged in recent operations. Epicentr, Ukraine’s largest home improvement retail chain, said two major logistics facilities and a manufacturing plant were destroyed within minutes during Wednesday’s strikes, and that it was still working to determine the full extent of the damage. The company described the attack as a deliberate effort to undermine Ukrainian manufacturing, logistics, employment and the broader capacity to recover from the war. Food retailer Silpo said on social media that at least six of its employees died in the strikes and that two of its distribution centres caught fire. Iryna Chechotkina, co founder of the online retailer Rozetka, said she watched overnight as three ballistic missiles destroyed years of work, describing the experience as devastating while stressing that her company remains operational. Ukraine’s economy has shown considerable resilience over more than four years of war, sustained in part by billions of dollars in financial support from Western governments, but business losses have mounted this year as strikes on commercial infrastructure have grown more frequent. The Kyiv regional military administration said Wednesday’s attack damaged 13 warehouses, a manufacturing facility, four private homes and dozens of vehicles. Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi, who took office last month following a government reshuffle, said officials would hold an emergency meeting with business leaders to determine how to keep logistics and trade operations running smoothly. Kyiv has renewed its request for additional PAC-3 interceptors, the newest generation of Patriot missile. Separately, the United States is continuing talks that would allow Ukraine to manufacture Patriot missiles domestically, according to four people familiar with the discussions, even after President Donald Trump expressed skepticism about such an arrangement.

Speaking during the premiere, Zendaya explained that working with Holland has always felt comfortable because their bond extends far beyond the movie set. According to the actress, years of friendship, trust and shared experiences have helped them develop a natural rhythm whenever they collaborate on a project. “It’s easy because we’re best friends,” Zendaya said, adding that their familiarity allows them to support each other throughout filming. Fans gathered outside the London venue hoping to catch a glimpse of the stars, who happily greeted supporters before posing together for photographers. Their coordinated looks and affectionate interactions quickly became one of the evening’s biggest talking points across social media. She noted that both she and Holland understand the pressures that come with leading major film franchises, making it easier to support each other through demanding schedules, long filming days and worldwide promotional tours. Their shared experiences, she suggested, have created a partnership built on trust and understanding. Holland has previously echoed similar sentiments, describing Zendaya as someone he deeply admires both personally and professionally. Over the years, the actors have consistently celebrated each other’s achievements, whether attending premieres, award ceremonies or supporting new projects from the sidelines. Fans have often praised their relationship for its authenticity and mutual encouragement. As excitement builds for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Zendaya’s comments offer a glimpse into the partnership that has captivated audiences around the world. While their romance continues to attract public attention, the actress made it clear that their enduring friendship remains the true foundation of both their marriage and their successful collaboration on screen.
