Bilawal condemns killing of PPP worker in LA-31

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the killing of party worker Mushtaq Shah in LA-31 during the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections.

In a statement, Bilawal expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and said the incident was deeply tragic. He prayed for the deceased and extended sympathy to his relatives.

Bilawal alleged that the earlier attack on senior PPP leader Chaudhry Latif Akbar, followed by the killing of Mushtaq Shah, reflected what he described as the intentions of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during the election process.

He further claimed that if the elections were influenced through rigging, it would undermine public confidence in state institutions. According to Bilawal, the use of violence, intimidation and coercive tactics to influence voters was unacceptable.

The PPP chairman also accused the PML-N of attempting to influence the electoral process in Azad Kashmir through force and pressure. He called for a transparent, peaceful and fair election, urging the relevant authorities to ensure that every voter could exercise their democratic right without fear.

Polling is currently underway for the second phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections, covering nine general constituencies in Muzaffarabad Division and 12 refugee constituencies located across different parts of Pakistan.

Election authorities have deployed security personnel at polling stations to maintain law and order as voting continues across the constituencies. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent electoral process and taking action against any violations of the election code of conduct.

Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor reveal what The En…

Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor are stepping into an unusual cinematic adventure with The End of Oak Street, a new film that combines family drama, mystery and prehistoric thrills. While the movie places its characters in an extraordinary situation, the story also explores themes of family, adaptability and finding strength when life suddenly changes. The film, directed by David Robert Mitchell, stars Hathaway and McGregor as parents living with their family in a quiet 1980s suburban neighborhood. Their ordinary lives take an unexpected turn when a mysterious event transports their community into a prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs and other ancient creatures. (Variety) Learning to adapt One of the strongest ideas surrounding The End of Oak Street is the importance of adapting to circumstances that are completely outside anyone’s control. Hathaway and McGregor’s characters are forced to leave behind the comfort and familiarity of their everyday lives. Suddenly, the skills they would normally rely on are no longer enough. They must work together, make difficult decisions and protect their family while trying to understand what has happened. That unusual premise gives the film an emotional foundation beneath its large-scale adventure. The story is not simply about dinosaurs or survival. It also places a family under extraordinary pressure and asks how people respond when everything familiar disappears. Family at the center Although the film promises plenty of spectacle, the family relationship remains an important part of the story. Hathaway plays a mother who begins questioning her life before the mysterious transformation changes everything around her. McGregor plays her husband, and their characters must navigate their complicated circumstances while attempting to keep their family together. Their journey gives the film a more personal dimension, allowing the adventure to explore questions about relationships, responsibility and change. The film has been compared to a blend of Spielberg-style wonder and Jurassic Park-level thrills, while remaining an original story. (World of Reel) A new kind of challenge For Hathaway and McGregor, The End of Oak Street represents a departure from more conventional family dramas. The production required them to work within a world where the impossible becomes reality. The movie is scheduled to arrive in UK cinemas on August 14, 2026. With its combination of mystery, family dynamics and prehistoric adventure, it could offer audiences more than a traditional creature-feature experience. (London Post) Ultimately, The End of Oak Street suggests that even when life takes an unexpected turn, staying connected, thinking creatively and protecting the people who matter can make all the difference.

Rather than staying in character around the clock, Taylor-Joy said she prefers maintaining a healthy balance between her work and personal life.  The Queen’s Gambit and Furiosa star argued that women often have responsibilities outside of work that make it difficult to fully immerse themselves in a role 24 hours a day. “If you’ll notice, women don’t method act because we have things to take care of. We can’t completely lose our minds,” she explained during the interview. Khawaja Asif accuses PTI of supporting PPP candida…

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supported candidates of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) during the recent elections. He alleged that in several constituencies, it appeared that both political parties had made joint efforts to influence the electoral outcome. Khawaja Asif stated that there were visible signs of cooperation between PTI and PPP in certain areas. According to him, the political activities and election strategies of both parties suggested that they were working together against other candidates. However, he did not provide specific evidence to support his claim. The Defence Minister said that he had been observing elections in Azad Kashmir for the past 55 years and had witnessed many political developments over different periods. He described the current election as significant, particularly because voter participation in urban areas was higher compared to previous elections. Khawaja Asif praised the efforts of his party’s workers, saying that they had worked hard during the election campaign. He claimed that the increased voter turnout in cities reflected greater public engagement and interest in the electoral process. He stated that urban areas recorded a turnout of more than 45 percent, describing it as an important achievement. According to Asif, the higher participation rate demonstrated that voters had actively participated in the democratic process and responded positively to his party’s campaign efforts. While discussing the performance of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Khawaja Asif claimed that the party’s popularity had declined among voters. He pointed out that the PPP had last won an election from the city in 1970, suggesting that the party had lost much of its previous political influence in the region. Asif argued that the current political landscape in Azad Kashmir was different from previous decades. He suggested that changing voter preferences and recent electoral trends indicated that political support for traditional parties had shifted over time. The Defence Minister’s remarks came amid political debate following the Azad Kashmir elections, where opposition parties raised concerns about the fairness of the electoral process. The PPP and other opposition groups have alleged irregularities, while government representatives have defended the transparency of the elections. Khawaja Asif maintained that his party’s success was the result of extensive political efforts and public support. He credited party workers for their dedication and said that the election outcome reflected the changing political dynamics of the region. The allegations regarding PTI’s support for PPP candidates have added another layer to the ongoing political discussions. Both PTI and PPP have their own positions regarding the election process, and any claims of coordination between them remain a subject of political debate. As the political situation develops, statements from different parties are expected to continue shaping discussions about the election results, voter trends, and the future direction of politics in Azad Kashmir.

PHF eyes european coach for Pakistan women’s hockey team

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is preparing to appoint a foreign coach for the national women’s hockey team in a move aimed at strengthening player development and improving the team’s international competitiveness. According to sources familiar with the matter, the PHF is currently in discussions with a European coach to take charge of the women’s national side. The negotiations are progressing, and officials are hopeful that an agreement will be finalized by the end of this month. The proposed appointment is part of the federation’s broader strategy to modernize women’s hockey and provide players with greater exposure to international coaching methods and high-performance training. Sources said the incoming coach would also oversee a series of training tours across Europe. These tours are expected to give Pakistan’s women hockey players the opportunity to compete against stronger opposition, gain valuable match experience and adapt to international standards of play. In addition to coaching the national squad, the foreign coach is likely to play a key role in organizing practice matches and training camps during overseas visits. These fixtures are expected to help the team improve its tactical awareness, fitness levels and overall performance ahead of future international competitions. The move reflects the PHF’s growing focus on rebuilding women’s hockey, which has struggled to maintain a consistent presence on the international stage in recent years. Officials believe that exposure to European coaching techniques and competitive environments could accelerate the team’s progress. While the federation has yet to make an official announcement regarding the coach’s identity, insiders say discussions are in the final stages and optimism is high that the appointment will soon be confirmed. If finalized, the hiring of a European coach would mark an important step in Pakistan’s efforts to revive women’s hockey and create a stronger pathway for future success at regional and global tournaments.

McKellen greeted him warmly before asking a simple question about his role in the upcoming Marvel film. Mackie said McKellen asked, “So what are you doing in the film?” to which he replied, “I’m Captain America.” The exchange left Mackie amused, especially considering his character has been the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America for several years. He said sharing the screen with performers like Ian McKellen remains a surreal experience, regardless of his own success within the franchise. McKellen is returning as Magneto, reprising one of the most iconic roles from the X-Men film series. His appearance in Avengers: Doomsday is part of Marvel Studios’ ambitious plan to bring together characters from multiple superhero franchises for the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The upcoming blockbuster is expected to feature heroes from the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, creating one of the largest ensemble casts ever assembled for a Marvel film. Marvel Studios has gradually expanded its interconnected universe through the multiverse storyline, paving the way for the return of several fan-favorite characters and actors from earlier superhero films. Avengers: Doomsday is expected to play a major role in that ongoing narrative while setting the stage for future Marvel projects. Mackie’s humorous encounter with McKellen has quickly become a fan-favorite story, highlighting the friendly atmosphere behind the scenes despite the film’s massive scale and star-studded cast.
