Laila Zuberi shares advice on handling marital disagreements

Senior Pakistani actress Laila Zuberi has shared thoughtful advice on how married couples can handle disagreements, anger, and tense situations in a relationship. During a conversation with host Nida Yasir, the veteran actress discussed the importance of remaining calm when emotions run high between husband and wife. She advised women that when their husbands are angry, it may be better to avoid immediately arguing or responding in anger. According to her, reacting in the heat of the moment can sometimes make a disagreement worse rather than helping resolve it. Laila explained that when either a husband or wife becomes angry, the other person should give them some time and space to calm down. Once emotions have settled, the couple can discuss the actual reason behind the disagreement and try to find a solution through a calm conversation. The actress also shared a personal rule that she and her husband established at the beginning of their marriage. She revealed that they decided they would never go to sleep while being angry or upset with each other. According to Laila, the couple makes an effort to resolve their differences before going to bed. This includes talking through their problems, apologising when necessary, and making an effort to understand each other. She believes that addressing disagreements instead of allowing resentment to continue can help maintain a healthier relationship. However, Laila Zuberi’s comments sparked a discussion among social media users, particularly regarding her suggestion that women should remain silent when their husbands are angry. Several users questioned why the advice appeared to be directed mainly at women. They argued that maintaining peace during an argument should be a shared responsibility between both partners rather than something expected from only one person. Some social media users pointed out that if a wife is expected to remain quiet when her husband is angry, the same principle should apply when the wife is the one who loses her temper. In their view, both partners should give each other time to cool down before continuing a difficult conversation. One user offered a humorous take on the situation, suggesting that couples should simply follow a “turn-by-turn” rule. Whenever one partner becomes angry, the other should remain silent until the situation becomes calmer. Despite the debate surrounding her comments, the central message from Laila focused on communication, patience, and resolving disagreements rather than allowing anger to damage a relationship. Laila Zuberi is regarded as one of Pakistan’s veteran television actresses. Her career is linked to the early days of Pakistan Television, and she initially worked as a radio artist before moving into television during the 1980s. She gained recognition through memorable performances in several popular television productions, including Guest House. Over the years, she has appeared in numerous acclaimed dramas and established herself as a respected figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

Lucy Davis reveals stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis publicly

Lucy Davis, best known for her role as Dawn Tinsley in the original British version of The Office, has revealed that she has been living with stage 4 breast cancer. The actress shared the deeply personal news on Tuesday, August 11, explaining that she had kept her diagnosis private for around a year and a half. Davis said she now felt ready to speak publicly about her condition and use her experience to encourage others to take changes in their bodies seriously. According to Davis, the cancer has spread to several parts of her body, including her spine, right hip and ribs. She described the illness as incurable and said that it had progressed to a point where chemotherapy was no longer an option. Reflecting on how she first discovered the cancer, Davis explained that she initially noticed what felt like a very small hard area rather than an obvious lump. Because the change was so subtle, she nearly decided not to have it examined. Her experience led her to issue an important message to her followers, urging them not to dismiss unusual changes or symptoms. She encouraged people to have anything concerning checked by a medical professional, even if it appears minor. Despite her diagnosis, Davis said she is not frightened about what lies ahead and has found a sense of peace with her situation. She also spoke about the emotional impact her illness has had on her loved ones, acknowledging that the experience may be more difficult for her family than it is for her. Davis also made it clear that she intends to continue working for as long as she is able. She said she remains perfectly capable of working and described acting as one of the greatest joys of her life. The actress rose to fame through The Office, the acclaimed British mockumentary created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. She portrayed Dawn Tinsley, the witty and kind-hearted receptionist who became romantically involved with Tim Canterbury, played by Martin Freeman. The series originally ran from 2001 to 2003 and recently marked its 25th anniversary. Following her success on The Office, Davis built an impressive career across television and film. She appeared in the 2004 comedy-horror movie Shaun of the Dead, where she played Dianne. She later took on the role of Etta Candy in the 2017 superhero film Wonder Woman. Davis also became widely recognized by a new generation of viewers for portraying Hilda Spellman in Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. More recently, she appeared as Eva in the Disney Channel action-comedy series The Villains of Valley View. While Davis’s diagnosis has brought a deeply personal chapter of her life into the public eye, her decision to continue pursuing her career reflects the important role acting continues to play in her life. Her message about checking unusual changes also serves as a reminder that early medical attention can be important when something does not feel right.

Nimra Khan urges parents to prioritize financial stability in marriage

Following reports of differences in her second marriage, Pakistani actress and model Nimra Khan has shared advice for parents about what they should consider before marrying their daughters. Nimra Khan has been a prominent figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry for several years. Throughout her career, she has remained in the spotlight for both her professional achievements and personal experiences. She previously made headlines after surviving a serious traffic accident and has also spoken publicly about difficulties surrounding her first marriage, including allegations of domestic abuse. More recently, Nimra Khan surprised fans by announcing her second marriage and sharing moments of happiness with her followers. However, speculation about problems in the relationship began circulating after both she and her current husband appeared to share cryptic posts on social media. While their posts have fueled discussions about their relationship, neither of them has made a clear or official announcement confirming a separation. Amid the ongoing speculation, Nimra has increasingly shared messages about unhealthy relationships and emotionally painful behavior. Her recent posts appear to emphasize the importance of self-respect, independence and making careful decisions when choosing a life partner. The actress has also suggested that women should not feel pressured to remain in an unhappy relationship simply because they are married. According to the message she has been promoting, living independently can sometimes be a better choice than spending life with the wrong person. In her latest social media activity, Nimra Khan reshared a message from a father addressing parents of daughters. The viral message advised parents to be careful when selecting a husband for their daughters and warned them against marrying their children to men who are financially dependent on others. The message used the term “beggars” to describe men who continually rely on others financially. Its central point was that parents should assess a potential groom’s financial circumstances and ability to take responsibility before finalizing a marriage. Nimra appeared to agree with the message and supported the idea that financial stability should be considered when families are discussing a marriage proposal. Her reaction has drawn attention because it comes at a time when her own personal life has become the subject of considerable public speculation. However, financial circumstances are only one aspect of choosing a suitable life partner. Compatibility, character, emotional maturity, mutual respect, responsibility and the ability to maintain a healthy relationship are also important factors that families and individuals can consider before marriage. Nimra’s latest message has once again sparked discussion on social media about the responsibilities of parents when arranging marriages. It also highlights the importance of ensuring that women enter marriage with awareness, confidence and a clear understanding of the person they are choosing to spend their lives with. While the actress has not directly confirmed the status of her second marriage, her recent posts have continued to generate interest among fans, with many closely following her social media updates.

Akshay Kumar to shoot alien thriller ‘Samuk’ in London

Akshay Kumar is stepping into unfamiliar territory with his next project, an ambitious alien thriller titled “Samuk.” Filming is set to begin on August 23 in London. The film is being produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, according to a report by Variety India. It marks a fresh direction for Kumar, who is best known for action, comedy and patriotic dramas rather than science fiction. Nearly 90% of the shoot will take place in London, with the production later moving to Mumbai to wrap up the remaining portions. Rather than splitting the shoot into multiple phases, the makers plan to complete it in one continuous schedule. This is not the first time Kumar and Shah have worked together. The 58-year-old actor and the 57-year-old filmmaker have previously collaborated on hits including “Aankhen,” “Namastey London” and “Singh Is Kinng.” Their latest project, however, marks a clear departure from their earlier work. Venturing into alien thriller territory is a genre rarely explored in mainstream Indian cinema, making “Samuk” a notably ambitious undertaking. The film is being directed by Kanishk Varma, who is helming what’s being described as an alien survival thriller. The project aims to push Indian cinema into largely uncharted creative territory. To bring the film’s vision to life, the production has brought in international talent for its technical execution. Renowned creature-effects specialist Alec Gillis has been attached to the project, alongside action expert Luke Tumber. Their involvement suggests the makers are aiming for a globally competitive standard in both visual effects and action choreography, elements crucial to pulling off a convincing alien thriller. With shooting now just weeks away, anticipation is building around how Kumar will adapt to this unfamiliar genre. “Samuk” is currently slated for a theatrical release sometime in 2027, giving the team ample time to bring its ambitious vision to the screen.

Brad Pitt reflects on grief a year after mother’s death

Brad Pitt is opening up about the loss of his mother, Jane Pitt, who passed away in August 2025. A year on, the actor is reflecting on how deeply that grief has shaped him. Speaking to Esquire, Pitt described the past year as one marked by a persistent sense of emptiness. He said the loss left him grappling with feelings he’s still working to fully understand. The Oscar-winning actor described grief as one of the most humbling emotions a person can experience. He said even that description felt like it fell short of capturing the weight of it. Pitt went further, calling loss one of the most difficult things anyone can endure. He said the isolation that often follows can feel like an especially painful kind of struggle. Since his mother’s passing, Pitt has made an effort to stay close to his father, William, who lives in Missouri. He revealed that he’s been visiting him regularly ever since. Despite spending time together, Pitt admitted that he and his father rarely discuss the loss they now share. Grief, for them, seems to exist more in shared silence than open conversation. Pitt acknowledged that there’s no straightforward way to move past something like this. He said finding a way to truly overcome it still feels largely out of reach. He explained that the real challenge lies in holding two conflicting truths at once. According to Pitt, grief leaves a lasting void, but it can also uncover something unexpectedly meaningful within that pain. He described the experience as a kind of aching beauty, difficult but not without value. For Pitt, surviving grief doesn’t mean forgetting it, but learning to carry both the loss and what it revealed. His comments offer a rare, personal look into how the actor has been processing one of the most difficult years of his life. A year after losing his mother, Pitt appears to be finding a way to hold onto both the pain and the perspective it’s brought him.

Julie Andrews confirms she will not return for ‘Princess Diaries 3’

“The Princess Diaries” remains one of the most beloved coming-of-age films of the century, but its long-awaited third instalment just lost one of its biggest stars. Dame Julie Andrews has confirmed she won’t be part of it. The 90-year-old actress played Queen Clarisse Renaldi opposite Anne Hathaway in the original films. She has now revealed she’ll be sitting out the upcoming sequel entirely. Speaking to Today, Andrews confirmed directly that she will not appear in the new instalment. She explained that the story appears to be taking a somewhat different direction this time around. She admitted she isn’t entirely sure how the filmmakers plan to handle that shift. According to her, the timing simply doesn’t work for her to be part of it anymore. Andrews said she believes the story now belongs to Princess Mia, Hathaway’s character, rather than her own. She framed the decision as a natural handoff, letting the franchise continue through its central character instead. Her comments have already sparked disappointment among longtime fans of the franchise. One user online said the script would need to be exceptional now, arguing the film has lost one of its strongest draws. For many, Andrews’ presence was a defining part of what made the earlier films so beloved. Fans had been hoping to see her return to the big screen after years away from major on-screen roles. Since stepping back from acting, Andrews has largely shifted toward voiceover work instead. Her absence from “The Princess Diaries 3” marks another sign of that ongoing transition away from live-action performances. While the news has left fans emotional, it also puts more attention on how the new film will carry the story forward. With Andrews stepping aside, all eyes are now on how the franchise reintroduces its world without one of its most iconic characters.

  • Sunny Leone wraps horror-comedy ‘Chudail’ shoot in UP

Sunny Leone is stepping into unfamiliar territory with her upcoming horror-comedy “Chudail.” The film blends supernatural elements with a distinctly North Indian setting. The 45-year-old actress takes on a role deep in supernatural territory for this project. She’s set to portray a spirit rumoured to haunt the streets of Bulandshahr. After an extensive shoot across Uttar Pradesh, reports have now confirmed that Leone has officially wrapped her schedule for the film. The production is said to lean heavily into India’s popular horror-comedy formula. In the story, Leone’s character will face off against another supernatural force, played by Mandana Karimi. The clash between the two forms a central part of the film’s plot. According to a source who spoke to Mid-day, the story is set in North India, with Leone playing a spirit haunting Bulandshahr and drawing men toward her. However, her character isn’t your typical menacing witch figure. As the story unfolds, it’s revealed that her character endured serious injustice during her lifetime. That injustice is what ultimately fuels her desire for revenge in the afterlife. The production has reportedly relied heavily on visual effects to bring Leone’s transformation to life. Her character shifts from an ordinary, beautiful woman into a spirit with glowing eyes and reversed feet, a detail rooted in South Asian folklore. With horror and comedy woven throughout, “Chudail” also incorporates music and supernatural drama into its narrative. The combination positions the film as one of Leone’s more unusual and ambitious projects to date. For an actress often associated with different genres, this marks a notable shift into folklore-driven horror. The blend of comedy and the supernatural gives Leone a chance to explore a character with more emotional depth than a typical genre villain. Reports suggest “Chudail” is expected to hit theatres toward the end of September. With shooting now complete, attention will likely turn to the film’s post-production and marketing rollout in the coming weeks.

Harry Potter fans save Dobby’s grave from power cable

Harry Potter fans have successfully pushed for a major power infrastructure project in Wales to be moved away from the memorial site known as Dobby’s grave. The $581 million Greenlink interconnector is being developed to connect the electricity networks of the United Kingdom and Ireland. The project aims to help both countries share surplus renewable energy. The original route of the underground cable was planned to pass close to the memorial for Dobby, the beloved house elf from the Harry Potter series. The memorial is located on a beach in Pembrokeshire. It became a popular destination for fans after the area was used to film Dobby’s death scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. Fans regularly visit the site to pay tribute to the fictional character. Many leave stones with personal messages and tributes. Socks were also commonly left at the memorial, reflecting Dobby’s connection with the item in the Harry Potter story, but environmental authorities have asked visitors to stop leaving them. The proposed power cable route triggered a strong reaction among Harry Potter fans. Project manager Simon Ludlam said his team received hundreds of calls after details of the planned route became known. Ludlam initially did not understand why the location had caused such concern. He said a colleague eventually explained the significance of the site and the emotional attachment fans had developed to Dobby’s grave. Following discussions, the project team decided to alter the planned route. Ludlam said engineers worked on a new alignment to ensure that the cable would not pass close to the memorial. The revised route has now allowed the project to proceed without directly affecting the popular tourist site. However, the new alignment has raised another issue. It passes relatively close to a potential Bronze Age burial site. Planning documents from local authorities had identified archaeological remains in the area. An archaeological investigation reportedly found the remains of an inverted pottery vessel believed to resemble a Bronze Age collared urn. The vessel has been dated to approximately 1700 to 1500 BC. Such urns are commonly associated with burial sites and may indicate the presence of human remains. The situation has highlighted the challenge of balancing major infrastructure projects with cultural, historical and tourism interests. Local residents have also welcomed the decision to protect the Dobby memorial. The site attracts visitors from across the world and has become an important tourism attraction in Pembrokeshire. Local resident Jack Nicholas said visitors had travelled from countries including Italy, Australia and South Africa to see the memorial. He said the attraction brings tourists to one of Pembrokeshire’s notable beaches and helps nearby businesses. Tourism is a major part of the local economy. Pembrokeshire County Council estimates that the sector contributes around $815 million to the economy and supports about 23% of local employment.
