Sunny Leone wraps horror-comedy ‘Chudail’ shoot in UP

Sunny Leone is stepping into unfamiliar territory with her upcoming horror-comedy “Chudail.” The film blends supernatural elements with a distinctly North Indian setting.

The 45-year-old actress takes on a role deep in supernatural territory for this project. She’s set to portray a spirit rumoured to haunt the streets of Bulandshahr.

After an extensive shoot across Uttar Pradesh, reports have now confirmed that Leone has officially wrapped her schedule for the film. The production is said to lean heavily into India’s popular horror-comedy formula.

In the story, Leone’s character will face off against another supernatural force, played by Mandana Karimi. The clash between the two forms a central part of the film’s plot.

According to a source who spoke to Mid-day, the story is set in North India, with Leone playing a spirit haunting Bulandshahr and drawing men toward her. However, her character isn’t your typical menacing witch figure.

As the story unfolds, it’s revealed that her character endured serious injustice during her lifetime. That injustice is what ultimately fuels her desire for revenge in the afterlife.

The production has reportedly relied heavily on visual effects to bring Leone’s transformation to life. Her character shifts from an ordinary, beautiful woman into a spirit with glowing eyes and reversed feet, a detail rooted in South Asian folklore.

With horror and comedy woven throughout, “Chudail” also incorporates music and supernatural drama into its narrative. The combination positions the film as one of Leone’s more unusual and ambitious projects to date.

For an actress often associated with different genres, this marks a notable shift into folklore-driven horror. The blend of comedy and the supernatural gives Leone a chance to explore a character with more emotional depth than a typical genre villain.

Reports suggest “Chudail” is expected to hit theatres toward the end of September. With shooting now complete, attention will likely turn to the film’s post-production and marketing rollout in the coming weeks.

Faysal Quraishi says Fahad Sheikh backlash has crossed a line

Actor Faysal Quraishi believes it is time to move past the controversy surrounding Fahad Sheikh, who publicly apologized on Wednesday after being accused of disrespecting veteran actor Mohammed Ahmed on set. In a reel shared on his Instagram account, Quraishi explained why he initially spoke up. As a member of the Actors Collective of Pakistan and part of its executive committee, he said supporting fellow actors during difficult moments is part of what the association stands for. He wanted to make sure Ahmed did not feel alone after the incident came to light. Quraishi admitted he had not known who was involved when the video first surfaced, but felt strongly that such matters are usually best settled between colleagues. He pointed out that sets often involve joking around and lighthearted banter, and that most issues get resolved internally rather than spilling into public view. In this case, though, things had already escalated before the industry could address it privately. He acknowledged that Sheikh choosing to admit fault and apologize publicly took courage. At the same time, he felt the public reaction had gone far beyond what was reasonable. According to Quraishi, criticism is understandable when someone makes a mistake, but attacking a person’s family or children crosses a line that should never be acceptable. He maintained that the issue was ultimately between Ahmed and Sheikh, and urged everyone else to let the situation settle down. Filmmaker Shamoon Abbasi echoed a similar message in a video posted on Facebook, calling for patience and forgiveness now that Sheikh had apologized. He noted that owning up to the mistake within a day of the controversy breaking was a positive step, and warned that continued backlash risked becoming unfair. Abbasi said he found it strange that people began targeting young actors broadly, even without knowing who was actually responsible. Based on his own experience working with several of them, he described most as respectful professionals who value their seniors. He also mentioned that accounts of what happened on set varied, with some suggesting Ahmed had taken part in the joking too, while others close to the set said Ahmed remained upset the next day. Drawing a comparison, Abbasi referenced how actress Meera handled an uncomfortable interview earlier this year, where she was asked inappropriate questions by a journalist. Instead of reacting harshly, she calmly redirected the conversation and left with composure, which Abbasi said earned her public admiration. He concluded that Sheikh had already apologized, and it was time for everyone to move forward.

Why did BTS reject Grammy race this year?

South Korean global music sensation BTS has decided not to submit its music for consideration at the 69th Grammy Awards in 2027, raising fresh debate over the Recording Academy’s newly introduced Best Asian Pop Music Performance category. The seven-member group announced the decision through individual posts on Instagram, saying it wanted music to be appreciated for its artistic value rather than being separated by region or language. “We hope music can be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language,” the group said while confirming it would not participate in the upcoming Grammy submission process. This marks the first time BTS has stepped away from the Grammy competition, despite being one of the most influential global acts and a major force behind the worldwide rise of K-pop. The controversy began after the Recording Academy introduced the Best Asian Pop Music Performance category, which will debut at the 69th Grammy Awards scheduled for February 2027. The category aims to recognise outstanding pop performances from Asian markets, including K-pop, J-pop and C-pop, featuring Asian languages. However, BTS’ decision highlighted concerns among some artists and fans that creating region-based categories could create divisions within global music rather than promoting equal recognition. Responding to the group’s announcement, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said he was disappointed but respected BTS’ choice. Mason explained that the new category was created to celebrate the diversity, growth and creativity of Asian artists, not to separate them from other musicians. He said the purpose of the award was to provide more opportunities for artists to receive recognition from Grammy voters and emphasized that artists nominated in genre categories could still compete for major awards, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year. “The category was created to shine a spotlight on important artists and expand recognition,” Mason said, adding that genre categories and major Grammy fields remain open to all eligible musicians. BTS’ decision comes after a major comeback year for the group. The band released its album “ARIRANG” in March 2026 after completing mandatory military service commitments. The album achieved major international success, spending two weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 chart and setting a new milestone for a K-pop act. Over the past decade, BTS has become one of the biggest names in global entertainment, breaking language barriers and helping Korean music gain mainstream acceptance worldwide. The group, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, has previously received multiple Grammy nominations and has repeatedly pushed for greater recognition of K-pop within the academy’s major award categories.

How K-pop stars turned concert stages into runways for luxury fashion

Fashion and music have always crossed paths, but K-pop has taken that relationship to a whole new level. Red carpets and front-row seats used to be where haute couture made its mark, but now concert stages are doing the same job. Every costume change is planned down to the last detail, every embellishment is built to catch the light, and every custom outfit says something about who the artist is. BTS’s ongoing ‘ARIRANG’ tour and ‘BLACKPINK’s’ solo shows have both proven that concert fashion is officially having its moment. What is more, luxury houses are not just dressing these artists anymore, they are designing with them, turning performance costumes into genuine collector’s pieces. For brands, a sold-out world tour means access to a massive, engaged audience eager to study every seam and fabric choice, a crowd that’s often broader than the one watching from the front row at a runway show. K-pop concert looks now blend ready-to-wear, couture and performance-first design, and they have to survive far more than just a photo op. Outfits need to hold up through intense choreography while still fitting the artist’s public image and giving fans something to freeze-frame in fan edits. Stylists are increasingly pulling from designer archives or commissioning fully custom pieces to keep things exclusive. BTS’s Paris tour stop was a masterclass in this. V leaned into Celine’s Parisian tailoring, J-Hope brought youthful energy to Louis Vuitton’s classic menswear, and Jimin wore four custom Dior looks spanning fringed knitwear to Napoleon-inspired jackets. Jin and RM turned to Gucci for leather-and-crystal ensembles, Suga went with a beaded Givenchy suit, and Jungkook wore custom Balenciaga pieces pulled from the label’s latest collections. BLACKPINK’s members have been just as bold. Lisa’s Swarovski-crystal catsuit from her Chicago show later ended up on display at Swarovski’s own crystal museum in Austria. Jennie leaned into archival fashion, wearing vintage Chanel pieces from the Karl Lagerfeld years, while Jisoo and Rosé spotlighted Asian designers, choosing Malaysia’s Ivan Yong and Seoul-based Gyouree Kim respectively. TWICE worked with New York designer Kim Shui for futuristic, metallic-heavy looks, while G-Dragon continues to blur the line between fashion and performance entirely, recently mixing bespoke Chanel tweed with an Amiri sequin suit. Together, these artists are proving that concert wardrobes can be just as fashion-forward as anything seen on a runway.

Phil Collins says Taylor Swift’s success is ‘well deserved’ after memorable early performance

Music icon Phil Collins has spoken warmly about Taylor Swift, praising the singer-songwriter’s rise to global stardom and saying her remarkable success has been fully earned. Speaking during a BBC Radio 2 interview, the Genesis frontman reflected on a performance that left a lasting impression on him. Collins recalled watching Swift perform her ballad “White Horse” at the Songwriters Hall of Fame event in 2008, describing the moment as one that has stayed with him ever since. According to Collins, the performance stood out because of its simplicity and emotional honesty. With only an acoustic guitar accompanying her, Swift delivered the song in a way that highlighted both her songwriting and vocal ability. He said the heartfelt sentiment behind the lyrics, combined with her expressive singing, made the performance unforgettable. Collins explained that the stripped-back arrangement allowed the emotion of the song to shine through, adding that it created a lasting soft spot for both the track and the artist. Looking back, he said it is easy to understand why Swift went on to become one of the most successful musicians of her generation. Swift has spent the years since that performance building one of the music industry’s most celebrated careers. Her albums have consistently topped charts around the world, while her songwriting has earned widespread critical acclaim and numerous awards. Her ability to reinvent her sound while maintaining a close connection with fans has made her one of the defining artists of modern pop music. The admiration appears to be mutual. In 2019, Swift performed a cover of Collins’ song “Can’t Stop Loving You,” introducing the classic hit to many younger listeners while paying tribute to one of her musical influences. The performance was widely welcomed by fans of both artists. Collins, whose career with Genesis and as a solo performer has earned him worldwide recognition, remains one of the most influential figures in popular music. His comments about Swift reflect an appreciation for artistry across generations, highlighting how memorable performances and strong songwriting can create lasting respect between musicians. As both artists continue to leave their mark on music history, Collins’ praise serves as another reminder that genuine talent is often recognised by fellow performers. https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/phil-collins-praises-taylor-swift-1236307708/
