Demi Lovato is officially returning to one of her most beloved Disney roles, bringing back Mitchie Torres for the highly anticipated Camp Rock 3.

The singer and actress will reprise the character nearly two decades after the original Camp Rock introduced her to audiences around the world. The news has generated excitement among longtime Disney fans, many of whom had been hoping to see Lovato return for the third instalment of the popular musical franchise.

Lovato’s comeback also marks a major reunion with the Jonas Brothers, who will once again portray their iconic characters from the franchise. Joe Jonas is returning as Shane Gray, while Nick Jonas will reprise his role as Nate Gray and Kevin Jonas will once again play Jason Gray. Maria Canals-Barrera is also set to return as Connie, Mitchie’s mother and the director of Camp Rock.

The original Camp Rock premiered in 2008 and quickly became one of Disney Channel’s most popular original movies. Faced with the unexpected situation, the group heads back to Camp Rock in search of new talent who could potentially join them on their tour.

The new cast includes Liamani Segura and Malachi Barton in leading roles, along with Lumi Pollack, Sherry Cola and Hudson Stone. Their addition is expected to bring a fresh energy to the franchise while allowing the returning stars to reconnect with the world that made them famous.

For fans, the return of Lovato and the Jonas Brothers represents a major throwback to the early days of Disney Channel’s musical era. With the original stars returning alongside a younger cast, the film aims to combine nostalgia with a new storyline for today’s audience.

Under the proposal, each member nation would have received a one-time payment of $20 million in 2027, with regular funding for the 2027–2030 cycle rising from $8 million to $20 million. However, instead of winning support, the initiative sparked fierce opposition from football stakeholders worldwide. UEFA strongly criticised the plan, describing it as an opaque agreement that lacked transparency, while CONCACAF questioned Infantino’s leadership and governance. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also publicly expressed doubts about Infantino’s ability to continue leading world football. Facing mounting pressure, Infantino withdrew the proposal last weekend, saying FIFA’s primary goal had always been to unite and strengthen the global game. The areas, located in the northern Jordan Valley, have experienced repeated military operations in recent months. According to Daraghmeh, agricultural land has been cleared, water networks damaged and artesian wells filled in, causing significant losses for farmers who depend on the land and water supplies for their livelihoods. The destruction of water infrastructure has particular significance in the Jordan Valley, where Palestinian farming communities rely heavily on limited water resources. Brothers detained during raid In another operation in the northern Jordan Valley, Israeli forces detained two Palestinian brothers in the Ein al-Hilweh area, according to local sources cited by Anadolu. Meanwhile, Israeli troops raided the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus, and ordered residents to leave several homes ahead of the planned demolition of a house belonging to Palestinian Farouq Ramadan. New settlement plan raises alarm At the same time, Palestinian officials said Israel had advanced plans for a new settlement containing approximately 650 housing units south of Jerusalem. The Palestinian Jerusalem Governorate said Israel’s District Planning and Building Committee had deposited the plan for the proposed “Nofei Rachel” settlement. The project would cover approximately 27 dunams, or 6.7 acres, near Palestinian homes, according to the governorate. Palestinian authorities warned that the consequences would extend beyond the construction of the housing units, arguing that the development could affect Palestinian movement, urban growth and the ability of local communities to expand. They described the plan as part of a broader Israeli policy of expanding settlements and restricting Palestinian development. Israeli rights organisation Ir Amim separately said Israel had advanced three major settlement projects involving more than 3,400 housing units in East Jerusalem in recent weeks. The developments have renewed international concerns about settlement expansion. The United Nations and most countries regard Israeli settlements established in territory occupied since 1967 as illegal under international law. Critics say continued settlement construction threatens the possibility of establishing a viable Palestinian state alongside Israel. West Bank caught in wider conflict The latest events come as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to reverberate across the region. According to figures cited by Palestinian authorities, violence in the West Bank has intensified alongside the wider war that began after the October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. Report: Israel holds 1,700 Palestinian bodies Israel is holding the remains of around 1,700 Palestinians for possible use in future exchanges, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported, citing two unnamed sources familiar with recent discussions within Israel’s security establishment. According to the report, Shin Bet chief David Zini supports retaining the bodies in case Israeli citizens are captured or disappear in the future. The Israeli military is also reportedly supportive of the position. Haaretz reported that most of the remains are believed to belong to Palestinians from Gaza who participated in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel or subsequent fighting. However, the newspaper also reported that some of the bodies belong to Palestinians who were not involved in combat. The issue has raised legal questions inside Israel. Legal experts cited by Haaretz questioned whether authorities have the power to retain the remains of Palestinians who have not been proven to have taken part in fighting. The Palestinian National Campaign for the Retrieval of Martyrs’ Bodies and Disclosure of the Fate of the Missing said in October 2025 that Israel was holding around 1,500 bodies of Palestinians from Gaza at the Sde Teiman military facility in southern Israel. A crisis extending beyond borders The developments in the West Bank are unfolding against the backdrop of the devastating Gaza conflict. Palestinian health authorities say tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed and injured since October 2023, while much of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed or severely damaged.       The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced a series of special measures to ensure that students from Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), who have been affected by prolonged internet disruptions, are able to participate in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) without facing unnecessary obstacles. As part of these initiatives, the PMDC has established a dedicated examination center in Islamabad and has also reached a preliminary agreement to set up a regional PMDC office in Azad Kashmir. The decisions were made during a meeting between AJK Secretary of Health Brigadier Aamir Raza and Joint Admission Committee Chairman Professor Dr. Faisal Bashir with PMDC President Professor Dr. Rizwan Taj, Registrar Brigadier (Retd.) Rehan Naqvi, and Director of Admission Affairs Dr. Imdad Ali Khushk. The meeting focused on the registration challenges faced by AJK students due to the prolonged internet shutdown and explored practical solutions to ensure that no eligible candidate is deprived of the opportunity to take the MDCAT. During the meeting, the Secretary of Health of the AJK government informed PMDC officials that the ongoing internet suspension in the region had created serious difficulties for students attempting to complete their online registration for the entrance examination. He requested the council to extend every possible facility to affected students so that deserving candidates would not miss the examination because of circumstances beyond their control. Speaking on the occasion, PMDC President Professor Dr. Rizwan Taj stated that the council had already introduced several special measures to facilitate students from Azad Kashmir. He emphasized that the Government of Pakistan remains committed to ensuring equal opportunities for every eligible student seeking admission to medical and dental colleges, regardless of the challenges they face. Dr. Rizwan Taj explained that, considering the extraordinary circumstances in the region, the deadline for MDCAT registration with the regular fee had been extended twice. Initially, the deadline was extended until July 13, and later it was further extended until July 23, 2026, to provide additional time for students affected by the communication disruptions to complete their registration process. The PMDC President further said that students from Azad Kashmir had been given multiple options for submitting their registration applications. In addition to the online process, applications could be sent through WhatsApp, email, postal mail, or submitted in person. He also assured students experiencing registration difficulties that they could contact the PMDC directly, where officials would provide all possible assistance to help them complete the process successfully. To further support students, the PMDC has established a special MDCAT examination center in Islamabad specifically for candidates from Azad Kashmir. A public notice has already been issued regarding the facility, and a dedicated focal person has been appointed to guide students throughout the registration and examination process. The council hopes these measures will reduce confusion and ensure smooth coordination for affected candidates. During the meeting, PMDC President Professor Dr. Rizwan Taj and Registrar Brigadier (Retd.) Rehan Naqvi assured the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir of their full cooperation in addressing students’ concerns. Both sides also reached a preliminary agreement to establish a PMDC regional office in Azad Kashmir to improve access to council services for students and healthcare professionals in the region. The proposal will now be presented to the PMDC Governing Body for formal approval. At the conclusion of the meeting, the AJK Secretary of Health and the Chairman of the Joint Admission Committee appreciated the PMDC’s timely response and the special facilities provided for students affected by the internet shutdown.
