BANGKOK – In a major coordinated cross-border operation, Chinese authorities have deployed charter flights to Thailand to repatriate 1,208 Chinese nationals accused of operating in large-scale scam syndicates in Myanmar. The first group of 300 individuals departed from Mae Sot International Airport in Tak province on the morning of December 1, 2025, following their transfer to Thailand by Myanmar officials.

The repatriations come after a month-long military crackdown by Myanmar on scam operations in Myawaddy province, particularly targeting notorious hubs like KK Park. The collapse of several scam compounds led to mass arrests, with hundreds of Chinese workers linked to online fraud networks being detained and subsequently handed over to Thai authorities at the Mae Sot border checkpoint.

Under the supervision of Thai immigration and security agencies, the detainees underwent stringent identity verification and document checks conducted jointly by Thai and Chinese police. The process was described as orderly, with detainees escorted under close guard from buses directly onto the waiting aircraft. All individuals had completed necessary legal procedures in Thailand prior to repatriation.

The operation is the result of trilateral coordination between Myanmar, Thailand, and China, highlighting intensified regional efforts to dismantle transnational criminal networks specializing in online fraud. Charter flights are scheduled to continue daily from December 1 through December 4 to complete the transfer of all 1,208 detainees.

    PML-N secures AJK majority, says Sanaullah

    Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured a simple majority in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly after winning 13 of the 20 seats contested in the first two phases of the elections. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad alongside Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam, Sanaullah said the election process had so far been completed on 20 constituencies. He said polling was first held on 13 seats and later conducted on seven more seats during the second phase. According to Sanaullah, the PML-N won 13 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured seven seats. He added that the PML-N also emerged victorious on 10 of the 12 refugee seats, taking the party’s total strength in the 45-member AJK Legislative Assembly to 23 seats. He said the party now has the required numbers to form a simple majority government in Azad Kashmir. Sanaullah congratulated PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, party workers and all successful candidates on what he described as a major electoral success.
