Dar calls for Muslim unity to protect Al-Aqsa

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has urged Arab and Islamic countries to stand together to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque and defend the rights of the Palestinian people amid the worsening situation in occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Speaking at a ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in Amman, Jordan, Dar said Muslim nations must adopt a united and coordinated approach to preserve the sanctity of Jerusalem’s holy sites. He stressed that immediate action is needed to stop violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque and maintain the site’s historical and legal status.

Dar said the international community must ensure unrestricted access to Jerusalem’s holy places and prevent any attempts to alter their religious or historical character. He added that continued Israeli actions threaten regional stability and undermine prospects for a lasting peace.

The foreign minister strongly opposed Israeli settlement expansion, annexation efforts, forced displacement of Palestinians and demographic changes in the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem. He said such measures violate international law and several United Nations Security Council resolutions.

He also called for the complete implementation of the Gaza peace plan and all relevant UN resolutions. Dar welcomed diplomatic efforts by the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye, expressing hope that all parties would honour their commitments and move the peace process forward.

Referring to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Dar said the ceasefire had brought limited relief, but conditions remained critical. He noted that millions of Palestinians continue to face severe food shortages, displacement and insecurity despite recent progress.

Dar urged Muslim countries to strengthen diplomatic efforts to ensure international protection for Palestinians and hold those responsible for violations of international law accountable. He said justice and respect for international law are essential for achieving sustainable peace.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding support for Palestine, Dar said Israel has no sovereignty over occupied East Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The minister also warned that continued attacks on religious sites could inflame tensions across the Muslim world and increase the risk of wider regional conflict.

The ministerial meeting concluded with a joint declaration by Arab and Muslim foreign ministers announcing the creation of a permanent mechanism to document Israeli violations in Jerusalem and at its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The mechanism will include a media platform to record incidents involving worshippers and religious sites and present documented evidence before international organisations and the global community.

The declaration reaffirmed that East Jerusalem remains an occupied territory and rejected all unilateral measures aimed at changing its legal or demographic status. It also stressed that a two-state solution remains the only viable path to lasting peace in the region.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Dar held separate discussions with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Türkiye, Jordan and Somalia. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, reviewing regional developments and coordinating diplomatic efforts on the Palestinian issue.

Kendall Jenner fuels romance buzz after Hawaii getaway

Kendall Jenner has given her fans a glimpse into her recent Hawaiian getaway with a new photo dump shared on social media. The 818 Tequila founder, who has reportedly been romantically linked to actor Jacob Elordi since earlier this year, treated her 277 million Instagram followers to a collection of candid and scenic moments from her trip to Honopū Beach on the rugged Nā Pali Coast of Kauaʻi, Hawaii. The carousel opened with a striking black-and-white photograph of Kendall smiling widely as she put on her sunglasses. The model appeared relaxed and carefree in the candid moment while holding a glass of wine in one hand. Kendall then gave her followers a look at what she has been reading during her vacation. Among the images was a copy of Frank O’Hara’s poetry collection Meditations in an Emergency, offering fans a small glimpse into her current literary interests. Several other pictures focused on the breathtaking scenery surrounding Honopū Beach, a remote location known for its dramatic cliffs, lush landscape and secluded atmosphere. The beach is also famously associated with the nickname “Valley of Lost Souls,” adding to the mysterious appeal of the destination. The model also included a sweet picture featuring her beloved dog. In the sun-soaked photograph, Kendall could be seen sharing a kiss with her pet while relaxing outdoors in a large open field. While the photo dump largely focused on nature, relaxation and personal moments, one detail in Kendall’s post quickly caught the attention of her fans. In the caption accompanying the carousel, she described herself as a “lucky lady,” prompting followers to speculate about the meaning behind the simple but suggestive statement. Kendall did not include Jacob Elordi in the collection, despite the pair’s reported relationship continuing to attract considerable public interest. The Wuthering Heights actor has remained largely absent from her recent social media updates, allowing Kendall to keep the focus on her own vacation experiences. However, fans were quick to interpret her cheerful caption as a possible hint about her personal life. Her apparent happiness, combined with the romantic setting of the getaway, fueled further curiosity about her relationship with Elordi. The new photo dump also reflects Kendall’s tendency to share carefully selected glimpses of her private life rather than offering fans a complete look into her relationships. From scenic destinations and books to candid photographs with her dog, the latest carousel presented a relaxed and personal side of the model. For now, Kendall has not publicly explained whether her “lucky lady” comment was connected to her reported romance with Elordi. Nevertheless, the caption was enough to spark plenty of excitement among her followers, who continue to closely follow every update from the model’s personal life. With its combination of stunning Hawaiian scenery, intimate snapshots and a playful caption, Kendall’s latest post has once again given fans plenty to talk about.

Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor reveal what The En…

Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor are stepping into an unusual cinematic adventure with The End of Oak Street, a new film that combines family drama, mystery and prehistoric thrills. While the movie places its characters in an extraordinary situation, the story also explores themes of family, adaptability and finding strength when life suddenly changes. The film, directed by David Robert Mitchell, stars Hathaway and McGregor as parents living with their family in a quiet 1980s suburban neighborhood. Their ordinary lives take an unexpected turn when a mysterious event transports their community into a prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs and other ancient creatures. (Variety) Learning to adapt One of the strongest ideas surrounding The End of Oak Street is the importance of adapting to circumstances that are completely outside anyone’s control. Hathaway and McGregor’s characters are forced to leave behind the comfort and familiarity of their everyday lives. Suddenly, the skills they would normally rely on are no longer enough. They must work together, make difficult decisions and protect their family while trying to understand what has happened. That unusual premise gives the film an emotional foundation beneath its large-scale adventure. The story is not simply about dinosaurs or survival. It also places a family under extraordinary pressure and asks how people respond when everything familiar disappears. Family at the center Although the film promises plenty of spectacle, the family relationship remains an important part of the story. Hathaway plays a mother who begins questioning her life before the mysterious transformation changes everything around her. McGregor plays her husband, and their characters must navigate their complicated circumstances while attempting to keep their family together. Their journey gives the film a more personal dimension, allowing the adventure to explore questions about relationships, responsibility and change. The film has been compared to a blend of Spielberg-style wonder and Jurassic Park-level thrills, while remaining an original story. (World of Reel) A new kind of challenge For Hathaway and McGregor, The End of Oak Street represents a departure from more conventional family dramas. The production required them to work within a world where the impossible becomes reality. The movie is scheduled to arrive in UK cinemas on August 14, 2026. With its combination of mystery, family dynamics and prehistoric adventure, it could offer audiences more than a traditional creature-feature experience. (London Post) Ultimately, The End of Oak Street suggests that even when life takes an unexpected turn, staying connected, thinking creatively and protecting the people who matter can make all the difference.

Trump faces awkward moment as Epstein letter repor…

WASHINGTON: An uncomfortable chapter in the long-running controversy surrounding President Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein returned to the spotlight after journalists whose reporting brought an alleged birthday letter linked to the two men into public view were honored at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The moment came during the rescheduled annual dinner on July 24, where Trump was present as The Wall Street Journal received the inaugural Katharine Graham Award for Courage and Accountability for its investigative reporting on his past relationship with Epstein. The award recognized the Journal’s reporting on a controversial letter allegedly written by Trump for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003. Trump has denied writing the letter and has strongly disputed the newspaper’s account. The report nevertheless triggered renewed public attention on Trump’s past association with Epstein and contributed to wider scrutiny of documents connected to the late financier. What made the award particularly striking was Trump’s presence in the room. According to reports from the event, Trump briefly congratulated the journalists as they received the honor. His reaction attracted attention because he had previously threatened legal action against the Journal over its Epstein reporting. The dinner itself had already been surrounded by unusual circumstances. The original White House Correspondents’ Association gathering in April was disrupted by a shooting incident, forcing the event to be postponed. The rescheduled dinner took place in July under heightened security measures. Trump also used his speech to take several pointed shots at journalists and political opponents, continuing his frequently combative relationship with the American press. The event nevertheless maintained its traditional role of honoring journalists for investigative and public-interest reporting. The Epstein controversy remains politically sensitive in the United States. Epstein, who died in federal custody in 2019 while facing sex-trafficking charges, had social and professional connections with numerous prominent people. The release and examination of documents related to his activities have repeatedly generated political controversy. For Trump, the latest episode creates an unusual image: a president sitting in the audience as journalists he has publicly challenged receive an award for reporting on one of the most politically explosive stories surrounding his past. The development is likely to keep the Epstein controversy in the headlines, particularly as questions surrounding previously unreleased documents and Trump’s historical relationship with Epstein continue to attract intense public and political scrutiny.

Pakistan digitises Hajj 2027, announces Rs1.2m cost

Pakistan has moved towards a completely digital Hajj management system, enabling intending pilgrims to complete registration and make pilgrimage-related payments through the official Pak Hajj mobile application, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousuf announced on Monday. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, the minister outlined the government’s preparations for Hajj 2027, including the estimated cost of pilgrimage packages, payment schedules, allocation of seats for short-duration Hajj and arrangements for collecting payments from pilgrims. He said the government had taken steps to bring the entire Hajj process onto a digital platform in an effort to make registration, payments and other administrative procedures easier, more transparent and traceable. According to the minister, approximately 400,000 people have already registered and are currently progressing through the application process for the government’s Hajj arrangements. Hajj 2027 packages and costs Sardar Yousuf announced that the estimated expenditure for the regular government Hajj package, which will cover a stay of around 40 to 42 days, has been set at approximately Rs1.2 million. The cost of the shorter package, designed for pilgrims opting for a stay of approximately 20 to 22 days, will be around Rs1.3 million, he said. The government has allocated 30,000 seats specifically for pilgrims opting for the short-duration Hajj package. The minister said the government would begin collecting the first instalment of Hajj expenses from August 17, while the second instalment would be payable during the second week of October. He added that applicants who are not selected to perform Hajj in 2027 would be placed on a waiting list for consideration in the subsequent year. Payments to be processed digitally The minister said the digitalisation programme would cover financial transactions as well as the registration process. Pilgrims would be required to use the Pak Hajj application for making payments instead of relying on other payment channels. The same digital mechanism will also be available to pilgrims travelling under the private Hajj scheme, allowing them to make their payments through the application. Sardar Yousuf emphasised that the government intends to keep Hajj-related financial transactions within the designated digital system to improve monitoring and ensure greater transparency. Pilgrims opting for the private scheme, however, will retain the option of selecting an online Hajj service provider of their choice. Habib Bank selected for Hajj payments As part of the new financial arrangements, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has entered into an agreement with Habib Bank Islami to facilitate the collection of Hajj payments. The minister said the bank would work with the ministry as its authorised banking partner for receiving pilgrimage-related funds under the arrangements being introduced for the upcoming Hajj season. He expressed satisfaction over the partnership and said the agreement would formally be signed on Monday. Minister responds to question over bank selection During the press conference, a journalist questioned the ministry’s decision to authorise Habib Bank as the banking partner for collecting Hajj applications and payments, asking why other banks had not been selected. Responding to the question, Sardar Yousuf said the ministry had opened the process to banks and invited them to participate. He explained that the banks that submitted applications were evaluated against the ministry’s requirements. According to the minister, Habib Bank was the only institution that fulfilled the required criteria, particularly those related to digital payment facilities. He said other participating banks were unable to meet the ministry’s stipulated requirements, which ultimately led to Habib Bank being selected as the authorised partner. Government seeks greater transparency through digital system The government believes the new digital framework will reduce paperwork and simplify several stages of the Hajj process for Pakistani pilgrims. By shifting registration and payment procedures to a centralised digital platform, the Ministry of Religious Affairs aims to improve oversight of applications and financial transactions while reducing the scope for manual errors. The integration of both government and private Hajj arrangements into the app-based system is also expected to provide pilgrims with easier access to information and payment services.

New investigation team makes key decisions in Kara…

A meeting of the investigation team probing the death of Karachi-based young businessman Mir Raza has concluded at Ferozabad Police Station, where several important decisions were taken regarding the ongoing investigation. According to investigative sources, different tasks have been assigned to members of the committee as part of the inquiry. The family of Mir Raza will be formally interviewed and their statements will be recorded. The team has also decided to record the statements of 21 individuals who were taken into custody during the investigation. Following the meeting, members of the investigation committee left for the crime scene to inspect the location and collect additional evidence. The former investigating officer will also accompany the new investigation team during the visit. Meanwhile, the new investigation team has contacted the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in connection with the case. The team has requested details of Mir Raza’s social media profiles and digital accounts to examine his online activity and determine whether it could provide any clues regarding his disappearance and death. The new team has written four letters to the NCCIA. In one of the letters, the agency was asked to conduct a forensic examination of Mir Raza’s smartwatch. The smartwatch was handed over to the NCCIA a day earlier for examination. However, the victim’s family has requested that the forensic examination of the smartwatch be conducted at a forensic laboratory in Lahore rather than by the NCCIA. The family’s lawyer, Jibran Nasir, said the smartwatch had remained in the possession of the former head of the investigation committee for several days, raising concerns about possible tampering. He demanded that the forensic examination be carried out in Lahore to ensure transparency and credibility. Earlier, on August 12, Dr Usama Sheikh, who conducted Mir Raza’s initial post-mortem examination, was removed from his position as a medico-legal officer. Officials said the doctor had committed serious errors during the initial post-mortem. He will appear before officials during an inquiry into the matter. A preliminary medical report following the exhumation and second post-mortem of Mir Raza indicated signs of physical trauma on his body. The report stated that the gunshot wound was smaller at the back and larger at the front, suggesting that the bullet may have entered from the rear. The report also revealed that Mir Raza had suffered fractured ribs and multiple injuries to his head and face. A fracture and wound approximately 12 centimetres long were found on his right thigh, while blood stains were also detected in tissues in the lower part of his body. The preliminary findings obtained after his exhumation on August 8 differed significantly from the initial post-mortem report. Evidence of a deep injury and fracture was found in his jaw, while injuries were also detected on his nasal bone and various parts of his face. Investigative sources said 17 samples were collected during the exhumation. Samples from Mir Raza’s parents were also obtained for DNA matching. The samples will be submitted to the forensic laboratory of the University of Karachi. After the samples were collected, Mir Raza was reburied on the same day, August 8. Mir Raza Ali Khan went missing from the PECHS area of Karachi on July 28. He left home at 4:09 a.m. in an online taxi, and his body was recovered from Gulistan-e-Johar two days later. Police said the body was found in a severely damaged condition and had a gunshot wound to the chest. His social media accounts had reportedly been shut down one day before his body was recovered. According to Mir Raza’s father, his son was scheduled to marry on August 30 at Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal and had been very happy about starting a new chapter in his life.
