Despite the delay, the source said Padukone handled the rest of the interaction professionally throughout. According to a Hindustan Times report, she was never given a full narration for the project, receiving only a brief, one-line pitch instead.

Sources explained that this approach simply does not match how Padukone typically works. According to the insider, she never commits to a project without hearing a complete narration first, meaning “Spirit” was reportedly never genuinely on her radar to begin with.

The source went further, suggesting Padukone would be unlikely to work with Vanga under any circumstances. They pointed to his reputation, describing his approach as reflecting deeply misogynistic undertones, both in his public persona and in the content of his films.

Following her exit, “Spirit” has since moved forward with a new cast, now featuring Prabhas and Tripti Dimri in the lead roles.

Vanga remains widely known for directing dark, intense films including “Animal,” “Arjun Reddy” and “Kabir Singh.” His work has often sparked debate over its treatment of gender dynamics and on-screen violence.

With the story resurfacing now, it’s reignited public discussion around both Padukone’s selective approach to choosing projects and the broader criticism Vanga’s filmmaking style continues to attract within the industry.

    Cnergyico, Pakistan’s largest oil refiner, has increased its purchases of US crude as the federal government works to diversify the country’s energy supply following disruptions tied to the war in Iran that exposed how heavily Pakistan depends on Gulf shipping routes. The government is also pushing to expand imports from the United States as part of a broader effort to narrow its trade surplus with Washington and secure relief from tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. Cnergyico, which made its first purchase of US crude last year, is now weighing spot purchases alongside longer term supply contracts with Vitol and other suppliers, basing those decisions on pricing, reliability and supply security, Vice Chairman Usama Qureshi said. The refiner imported roughly 8.1 million barrels of US crude over a nine month stretch, including 7.1 million barrels worth about $750 million during the fiscal year that ended in June, according to Qureshi. Central bank data showed Pakistan’s payments for US imports climbed by $914 million to reach $3.27 billion during that fiscal year, meaning Cnergyico’s crude purchases accounted for roughly 80 percent of that overall increase. Qureshi said the refiner could expand its US crude purchases further if Pakistan’s proposed EXIM Bank trade finance facility gets extended to Cnergyico. Islamabad pitched that facility last month as a mechanism allowing Pakistani buyers to delay payments to US exporters for as long as three years. Pakistan has traditionally sourced most of its oil from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, with roughly 90 percent of its oil and liquefied natural gas imports passing through the Strait of Hormuz before the war disrupted that route. Rising fuel costs have added pressure on Islamabad to respond, particularly as fresh protests over inflation and fuel prices broke out this week. The government has also pursued alternative supply routes, including Saudi crude delivered via the Yanbu port on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast. Qureshi said Cnergyico is evaluating construction of a second offshore mooring facility linked to its existing storage network, which would allow the company to import and export refined products using large tankers outside Karachi’s congested ports. That project forms part of a broader $1.2 billion upgrade aimed at meeting Euro V fuel standards, reducing furnace oil output and expanding refining capacity to around 200,000 barrels per day. Fawad Basir, head of research at KTrade Securities, said the disruptions in the Middle East have underscored the risks of relying on a single supply corridor. He said using Very Large Crude Carriers to import US oil could reduce freight costs by 25 to 30 percent, while adding a second Single Point Mooring facility would speed up vessel turnaround times. Cnergyico currently processes 156,000 barrels of crude per day and operates Pakistan’s only single point mooring terminal near Karachi, giving it the unique ability among the country’s refiners to handle large tankers directly. The company plans to build a second offshore terminal to accommodate larger or more frequent shipments and intends to upgrade its refinery over the next five to six years. The refiner, which has been running at an average utilization rate of just 30 to 35 percent amid weak domestic demand, is betting that demand for refined oil products will strengthen in the years ahead.

Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said that while there had been an atmosphere of uncertainty in Muzaffarabad the previous day, the situation had now become more stable and peaceful. He added that additional security personnel had been deployed at the two most sensitive constituencies in the region to ensure peaceful polling. The chief election commissioner said that security arrangements for elections on migrant seats in Pakistan were the responsibility of the relevant provincial governments. He explained that election materials had been dispatched to polling stations and that presiding officers had also left for their assigned areas. “Election equipment has been sent to the polling stations, and presiding officers have moved toward their respective locations,” he said, adding that in some remote areas, the transportation of election materials was continuing gradually due to logistical challenges. Justice Mughal confirmed that polling in Muzaffarabad would take place the following day and identified two constituencies—LA-5 Khawora and LA-3 Lajrat—as highly sensitive areas requiring additional security arrangements. He said extra security forces had been deployed at sensitive polling stations, while Quick Response Force units would also remain available throughout the polling process. In the event of any emergency or disturbance, the quick response teams would immediately intervene to control the situation and maintain peace. The chief election commissioner expressed confidence that the security arrangements would help ensure a smooth and transparent election process. He emphasized that all necessary measures were being taken to protect voters, polling staff, and election officials. Meanwhile, preparations for the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections have been completed. Polling will be held in three districts of the Muzaffarabad division as well as on 12 seats reserved for Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan. According to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission, the Muzaffarabad division consists of three districts: Muzaffarabad, Neelum, and Jhelum Valley. More than 890,000 registered voters are eligible to cast their ballots across these areas. A total of 208 candidates are contesting elections in nine constituencies across the three districts. The voting process will also include refugee seats representing Jammu and Kashmir Valley migrants who are currently residing in Pakistan. The Election Commission stated that six seats representing Jammu and six seats representing the Valley will be contested by Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan. These seats are part of the legislative structure of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and allow displaced communities to participate in the political process. Authorities have increased security arrangements across polling areas to prevent any disruption and ensure that voters can exercise their right peacefully. Election officials have also directed security agencies and administrative departments to remain alert throughout polling day. The second phase of voting is being closely monitored due to the importance of the constituencies involved and previous concerns regarding security. Officials have assured that all necessary steps have been taken to conduct free, fair, and peaceful elections in the region.

The latest export highlights Afghanistan’s growing interest in developing its mining sector, which is considered one of the country’s most valuable economic resources. The country possesses significant deposits of marble, gemstones, precious metals and other industrial minerals that have the potential to boost exports and generate foreign exchange.
