Elizabeth Hurley has opened up about her relationship with Miley Cyrus, revealing that she admired the singer long before she began dating Miley’s father, country music star Billy Ray Cyrus. The actress shared that while she had never met Miley before her romance with Billy Ray, she already felt she knew the Grammy-winning star thanks to her son, Damian Hurley. 

Speaking during an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Hurley explained that Damian was a huge fan of Hannah Montana and Miley’s music while growing up. As a result, she became very familiar with the pop icon’s career and personality long before their families became connected.

“I always knew who she was,” Hurley said, adding that her son frequently played Miley’s music and watched her videos. She joked that she had seen the music video for “Wrecking Ball” countless times because of Damian’s enthusiasm. Looking back, Hurley admitted she had a feeling she would get along with Miley if they ever met—and that prediction turned out to be true. 

The Bedazzled actress described Miley as “adorable” and said she genuinely enjoys spending time with her. Hurley’s comments offer a glimpse into the positive relationship developing within the blended family since she and Billy Ray Cyrus confirmed their romance in early 2025. 

Hurley and Billy Ray first crossed paths while filming the 2022 holiday movie Christmas in Paradise. Although they remained friends for some time, their relationship eventually blossomed into romance, which they made public in April 2025. Since then, the couple has frequently spoken about how much they enjoy each other’s company and the peaceful lifestyle they share between Tennessee and the English countryside. 

Miley has also publicly expressed support for both of her parents finding happiness following their separation. Reports indicate that she has welcomed Hurley warmly, helping create a positive atmosphere within the extended family. Hurley and Billy Ray even attended the London premiere of Miley’s visual album in 2025, showing their support for the singer’s career. 

Hurley’s heartfelt remarks suggest that her admiration for Miley began years before her romance with Billy Ray. Rather than seeing Miley only as a global superstar, the actress remembers her through the joyful memories she shared with her son. Now that their paths have crossed personally, Hurley says her first impression was right—she always believed she would like Miley, and today, she says that feeling has only grown stronger.

    DSP among three killed in Balochistan attacks

    Three people, including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), were martyred in separate attacks across Balochistan, officials said. The incidents were reported in Barkhan, Kech and Chagai districts. A truck driver was also injured during one of the attacks. Six labourers were abducted in Kech. Meanwhile, five trailers and two gas bowsers were set on fire in Chagai. In Barkhan, DSP Rakhni Murid Bugti was killed when armed men opened fire on his police vehicle. The incident occurred near Khatta Chowki on Tuesday evening. The DSP was reportedly patrolling the area when the attackers targeted his vehicle. Police, Frontier Corps (FC), Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel and other security forces reached the area after the attack. The security personnel launched a search operation to trace the attackers. Authorities also increased security around the area. Another deadly incident occurred near Kalatak in Turbat, the district headquarters of Kech. According to officials, armed men stopped a vehicle carrying seven labourers on Monday night. The attackers opened fire on the vehicle. Javed Khan, a resident of Swabi district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, was killed in the attack. The attackers then abducted the other six labourers. Four of those abducted belong to Punjab, while two are from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. A passer-by was also caught in the crossfire. Abdul Razzaq, a resident of Solband, was killed in the incident. Police and security agencies launched a search operation after receiving information about the abduction. Efforts were underway to locate and recover the missing labourers. In another incident, armed men blocked the N-40 highway in Chagai during the same night. The highway connects Quetta with Taftan and is an important route in the region. The attackers reportedly blocked the road at Padag. They also opened fire outside a roadside hotel. The assailants later set five trailers and two gas bowsers on fire. A truck driver sustained injuries during the firing. Law enforcement personnel reached the area soon after the attack. Police and other security agencies launched a search operation to locate those responsible. Investigators also cordoned off the affected area and began collecting evidence.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs stated that the vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile, confirming that the cargo ship later sank. The ministry added that all crew members were safely rescued and no loss of life occurred. As of now, no group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack. However, the incident comes amid heightened security concerns in the Red Sea, where commercial shipping has faced repeated threats in recent months. Several previous attacks on merchant vessels in the region have been claimed by the Iran-backed Houthi movement, although no evidence has yet linked this specific incident to any particular group. The Red Sea has become one of the world’s most sensitive maritime routes due to ongoing regional tensions. Commercial vessels transiting the area have encountered increased security risks, prompting many shipping companies to strengthen safety measures or alter their routes. Recent months have also seen warnings and threats against ships passing through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a strategic waterway connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden. Disruptions in this corridor can have significant consequences for global trade, particularly the transportation of oil, gas, and other essential commodities. The Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait rank among the world’s busiest shipping lanes, serving as critical links between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Any disruption in these waters can affect international supply chains, increase shipping costs, and impact global energy markets. Investigations into the cause of the attack are expected to continue as maritime authorities gather evidence. Despite facing repeated challenges during the academic year, the family celebrated their achievements, describing education as a source of hope and resilience. The students said the difficult conditions often made it emotionally exhausting to continue studying. However, they remained focused on their academic goals and credited their family for providing encouragement throughout the year. They said their success represented not only personal achievement but also a reward for months of perseverance. The family’s journey was particularly challenging because two of the siblings have physical disabilities, making regular attendance at private tuition difficult. Their parents arranged for teachers to conduct lessons at home, ensuring they could continue their studies despite mobility challenges and the difficult security situation. Their mother said years of continuous support, confidence and determination helped her children overcome obstacles. She expressed pride in their achievements, saying their success proved that dedication and family support can help students overcome even the most difficult circumstances. Education officials said nearly 89,000 students from the occupied Palestinian territories took the Tawjihi examinations this year, while thousands of Palestinian students living abroad also participated. Authorities added that more than 36,000 students from Gaza alone sat for the examinations despite the ongoing humanitarian crisis. Officials also noted the heavy impact of the conflict on the education sector. Hundreds of schools have reportedly been damaged, while many educational institutions remain unusable because of destruction. In many areas, students attended lessons inside temporary shelters, tents or partially damaged buildings where classrooms lacked desks, chairs and basic learning facilities. Teachers continued providing instruction despite the challenging conditions. Many educators said they had to support students emotionally as well as academically because many had lost family members or been forced to leave their homes during the conflict. One mathematics teacher said students often arrived carrying emotional trauma, making psychological support just as important as classroom instruction. She explained that teachers tried to encourage students, helping them remain focused on their studies despite the hardships surrounding them. Several students also shared deeply personal stories of loss. One student who lost multiple close family members during the conflict said completing her examinations became both an emotional struggle and a tribute to her loved ones. Although she celebrated passing the exams, she said the moment was bittersweet because many family members were no longer alive to witness her achievement.

    Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has called for the immediate end of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s solitary confinement and urged authorities to shift him to a hospital following recommendations in his latest medical report. In a statement posted on social media platform X, Chaudhry expressed concern over Imran Khan’s health and conditions at Adiala Jail. He said the medical report made it necessary for authorities to end the former prime minister’s solitary confinement and provide him with better medical facilities. Chaudhry criticised the decision to keep Imran Khan in isolation and alleged that denying adequate medical care to a major political leader was unacceptable. He urged the authorities to follow the recommendations of medical experts and ensure that all necessary treatment and facilities were provided without delay. A medical report submitted to the Supreme Court reportedly contains recommendations from a medical board that examined Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. According to the report, the medical board recommended several measures to help manage Imran Khan’s blood pressure and anxiety. The doctors recommended that the former prime minister be allowed to walk for at least one hour every day. The board said some relaxation in the prison environment was necessary in view of his current health condition. The medical team also recommended providing Imran Khan with newspapers, magazines, books and television facilities. The measures are intended to keep him mentally engaged during his imprisonment. The medical board also made recommendations regarding his meetings with family members and his wife. It suggested that meetings with his family and wife should take place more regularly and for longer than the currently prescribed duration, subject to the applicable rules. According to the recommendations, regular physical activity, access to reading material and greater interaction with family members could help reduce Imran Khan’s anxiety and assist in keeping his blood pressure under control. Fawad Chaudhry has called on the authorities to implement the medical recommendations and ensure that Imran Khan receives appropriate treatment and a suitable environment during his imprisonment.

    22 dead, 183 injured in Punjab rains

    Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director General Umar Abbas has said that 22 people have died and 183 others were injured in various rain-related incidents across Punjab. Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Abbas said the Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions received the highest rainfall during the recent spell. He added that the water situation in the Ravi and Sutlej rivers remains normal. According to the PDMA chief, a breach developed in an embankment in Sheikhupura, but authorities immediately repaired it and filled the gap. Abbas said new machinery had been acquired under the Punjab Development Programme to improve the province’s ability to respond to emergencies. He claimed that water accumulation this year was three times lower than last year. He said the authorities had also completed the cleaning of major drains before the monsoon season to reduce the risk of urban flooding and waterlogging. The PDMA director general said Punjab’s electricity infrastructure is outdated, and relevant authorities are reviewing several issues concerning the power system. He further said that encroachments and people living in riverbeds have been removed as part of measures to prevent casualties during flooding. According to Abbas, protective embankments are also being constructed at several locations along rivers to strengthen flood protection and minimise the impact of rising water levels. The latest figures highlight the continuing risks posed by heavy monsoon rains across Punjab, while authorities are monitoring rainfall, river levels and vulnerable areas to prevent further loss of life and property.
