Fawad urges Imran Khan’s immediate hospital tran…

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has called for the immediate end of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s solitary confinement and urged authorities to shift him to a hospital following recommendations in his latest medical report.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Chaudhry expressed concern over Imran Khan’s health and conditions at Adiala Jail.

He said the medical report made it necessary for authorities to end the former prime minister’s solitary confinement and provide him with better medical facilities.

Chaudhry criticised the decision to keep Imran Khan in isolation and alleged that denying adequate medical care to a major political leader was unacceptable.

He urged the authorities to follow the recommendations of medical experts and ensure that all necessary treatment and facilities were provided without delay.

A medical report submitted to the Supreme Court reportedly contains recommendations from a medical board that examined Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.

According to the report, the medical board recommended several measures to help manage Imran Khan’s blood pressure and anxiety.

The doctors recommended that the former prime minister be allowed to walk for at least one hour every day. The board said some relaxation in the prison environment was necessary in view of his current health condition.

The medical team also recommended providing Imran Khan with newspapers, magazines, books and television facilities. The measures are intended to keep him mentally engaged during his imprisonment.

The medical board also made recommendations regarding his meetings with family members and his wife.

It suggested that meetings with his family and wife should take place more regularly and for longer than the currently prescribed duration, subject to the applicable rules.

According to the recommendations, regular physical activity, access to reading material and greater interaction with family members could help reduce Imran Khan’s anxiety and assist in keeping his blood pressure under control.

Fawad Chaudhry has called on the authorities to implement the medical recommendations and ensure that Imran Khan receives appropriate treatment and a suitable environment during his imprisonment.

World Cup hero Vozinha joins Chilean giants Colo-Colo

SANTIAGO: Cape Verde’s inspirational goalkeeper Josimar Jose Evore Dias, widely known as Vozinha, has completed a remarkable transfer to Chilean football powerhouse Colo-Colo, capping off an extraordinary rise that began with his unforgettable performances at the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Chilean Premier Division leaders confirmed the signing on Monday after the veteran goalkeeper successfully passed his medical examination. The 40-year-old has signed a six-month contract, with the club holding an option to extend his stay for another year if both parties agree. Vozinha became one of the biggest surprise stars of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Cape Verde made history by reaching the knockout stage in their debut appearance at football’s biggest tournament. Although the African side eventually bowed out after a narrow Round of 32 defeat to eventual finalists Argentina, the team’s fearless performances won admiration across the globe. At the heart of Cape Verde’s historic campaign was Vozinha, whose spectacular reflex saves and commanding presence between the posts frustrated some of the world’s strongest teams. He played a decisive role in helping his nation secure impressive draws against eventual champions Spain and two-time world champions Uruguay during the group stage, earning widespread praise from fans and football pundits alike. His World Cup heroics also transformed him into a global social media phenomenon. Before the tournament, Vozinha had a modest online following of around 50,000 on Instagram. Within weeks of his standout performances, that number had skyrocketed to nearly 29.5 million followers, making him one of the fastest-rising football personalities of the year. According to Chilean media, Vozinha could make his much-anticipated debut for Colo-Colo on August 16 against O’Higgins as the club looks to maintain its lead in the domestic league and strengthen its title challenge. Adding another heartwarming chapter to his story, Chilean football authorities approved Colo-Colo’s request to allow the goalkeeper to wear his famous nickname, “Vozinha,” on the back of his jersey. Rival clubs reportedly supported the application, ensuring the fan-favourite identity remains part of his football journey. Interestingly, the nickname means “little grandmother” in Portuguese. It originated during his childhood when older boys teasingly called him by the name because he would often run home to the grandparents who raised him after losing neighbourhood football matches. Before arriving in Chile, Vozinha represented Portuguese second-division side Chaves and previously played club football in Angola, Cyprus, Moldova and Slovakia. His latest move marks another remarkable milestone in a career defined by perseverance, resilience and an unforgettable World Cup fairytale.

US revokes over 600 visas in crackdown on birth to…

The United States has revoked more than 600 visas from foreign nationals over the past month as part of a sweeping campaign against birth tourism operations, the State Department announced Wednesday. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on social media that American citizenship is not for sale, accusing criminal organizations of profiting by coaching foreign nationals to defraud the visa system and forge documents in order to secure citizenship for their children. He said these networks have systematically exploited weaknesses in US immigration law for financial gain. The State Department recently launched a dedicated Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force tasked with identifying and dismantling these networks. Rubio said the unit will continue reviewing the activities of visa holders to put an end to what he called a heinous abuse of national law, and said the department intends to use every tool available to dismantle birth tourism networks and protect the integrity of American citizenship. The crackdown follows an executive order President Donald Trump signed on August 6 that describes birth tourism as a calculated exploitation of immigration policy and casts it as a threat to national security. The order gives the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security authority to permanently bar entry and revoke documentation for individuals found to be facilitating these schemes. Trump signed two executive orders on August 6 in a narrower attempt to limit birthright citizenship, again testing a constitutional provision even after the Supreme Court rejected an earlier version of his effort. Curbing birthright citizenship has remained one of the central goals of Trump’s broader immigration crackdown, with the White House specifically targeting birth tourism, in which pregnant foreign nationals travel to the United States specifically to give birth on American soil. Following the Supreme Court setback on June 30, Trump initially urged Congress to pass legislation addressing the issue before ultimately turning to executive orders instead, a route that allows the administration to set policy directly but carries less legal weight than legislation passed by Congress.
