Gold prices fall in global and Pakistan markets as…

In the international bullion market, the price of gold fell by $10 per ounce, bringing it down to $4,040 per ounce. The decline in global prices was mirrored in Pakistan’s local bullion market, where the price of 24-karat gold dropped by Rs. 1,000 per tola, settling at Rs. 426,436.

Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold in the domestic market decreased by Rs. 857, reaching Rs. 365,600. The latest adjustment follows fluctuations in global bullion markets, where investor sentiment and international economic developments continue to influence precious metal prices.

While gold registered a decline, silver prices moved in the opposite direction. In the international market, silver gained 68 cents per ounce, pushing its price to $58.12 per ounce.

The increase in global silver prices was also reflected in Pakistan’s local market. The price of silver per tola rose by Rs. 68, reaching Rs. 6,291, while the price of 10 grams of silver increased by Rs. 58 to Rs. 5,393.

Market analysts say fluctuations in precious metal prices are primarily driven by movements in international bullion markets, changes in investor demand, currency trends, and expectations regarding global economic conditions. Gold often experiences price volatility as investors respond to inflation data, interest rate expectations, and geopolitical developments, while silver prices are influenced by both investment demand and industrial consumption.

Jewellers and bullion traders in Pakistan closely monitor international price movements, as domestic gold and silver rates are largely determined by global market trends along with the exchange rate of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar.

The latest decline in gold prices may provide some relief for buyers planning jewellery purchases or investment in physical gold. However, traders caution that bullion prices remain highly volatile, and future movements will depend on developments in the global economy and financial markets.

With gold easing and silver continuing to strengthen, investors are expected to keep a close watch on international market trends before making further investment decisions in precious metals.

Accepting the request, the court adjourned the proceedings to a later date, allowing both parties sufficient time to prepare their arguments. While postponing the hearing, the Islamabad High Court announced that its previous order would continue to remain in force until the next hearing. As a result, authorities have been restrained from collecting the additional 50 percent toll tax from vehicles that either do not have an M-Tag installed or have insufficient balance in their M-Tag accounts. The interim relief means that motorists falling into these categories cannot be charged the extra amount until the court issues further directions. However, the regular toll charges applicable under existing rules may still be collected. The dispute centers on the National Highway Authority’s policy requiring motorists to register their vehicles with the M-Tag electronic toll collection system. Under the authority’s regulations, vehicles that are not registered with M-Tag are subject to a 50 percent higher toll fee when using motorways and designated highways. Similarly, vehicles with an M-Tag account that does not have sufficient balance may also be charged the additional amount under the same policy. The NHA introduced the M-Tag system to modernize toll collection, reduce congestion at toll plazas, promote cashless payments, and improve the efficiency of traffic management on Pakistan’s motorway network. The electronic system enables vehicles to pass through toll plazas more quickly, minimizing delays and reducing manual cash transactions. Despite these objectives, the policy of imposing an additional 50 percent toll charge has faced criticism from some motorists and legal experts. Opponents argue that the surcharge is excessive and places an unnecessary financial burden on drivers, particularly those who have not yet registered for the M-Tag system or encounter technical issues with their accounts. They also contend that such a financial penalty should have a clear legal basis and should not be enforced without proper safeguards.     PML-N secures AJK majority, says Sanaullah

    Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured a simple majority in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly after winning 13 of the 20 seats contested in the first two phases of the elections. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad alongside Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam, Sanaullah said the election process had so far been completed on 20 constituencies. He said polling was first held on 13 seats and later conducted on seven more seats during the second phase. According to Sanaullah, the PML-N won 13 seats, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured seven seats. He added that the PML-N also emerged victorious on 10 of the 12 refugee seats, taking the party’s total strength in the 45-member AJK Legislative Assembly to 23 seats. He said the party now has the required numbers to form a simple majority government in Azad Kashmir. Sanaullah congratulated PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, party workers and all successful candidates on what he described as a major electoral success. The adviser said the victory reflected the confidence of the people of Azad Kashmir in the policies and leadership of the PML-N.
