President orders stronger monsoon preparedness nat…

President Asif Ali Zardari has directed all federal, provincial, and local authorities to strengthen emergency preparedness and speed up rescue and relief operations as heavy monsoon rains continue to affect several parts of Pakistan.

The president issued the instructions as the country enters a critical phase of the monsoon season. Weather experts have warned that continued rainfall could increase the risk of flash floods, river flooding, urban flooding, landslides, cloudbursts, and glacial lake outburst floods in vulnerable regions.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and the destruction caused by recent rains, President Zardari extended his condolences to the affected families. He also expressed concern over the damage to homes, roads, public infrastructure, agricultural land, and other property caused by the ongoing severe weather.

The president instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), district administrations, and other relevant agencies to maintain close coordination throughout the emergency. He said all institutions should work together to ensure a timely and effective response to any weather-related incident.

He directed authorities to issue early weather warnings without delay and ensure that information reaches people living in high-risk areas. He stressed that advance warnings can help communities take precautionary measures and reduce the loss of lives and property.

President Zardari also ordered continuous monitoring of rainfall, river flows, reservoirs, and water levels, especially in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where heavy rains have increased the possibility of flash floods and landslides. He instructed authorities in downstream districts to complete all necessary preparations for possible flooding.

The president further directed emergency agencies to deploy rescue teams, heavy machinery, medical staff, and relief supplies in vulnerable areas before conditions worsen. He also called for special measures to protect tourists, travellers, and local residents in mountainous regions where landslides, flash floods, and glacial lake outburst floods pose serious risks.

He emphasised that all government departments must remain on high alert and respond immediately wherever human lives, homes, or critical infrastructure are threatened. He said protecting citizens should remain the highest priority during the ongoing monsoon season.

President Zardari also appealed to the public to follow official weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel to areas facing heavy rainfall or flood warnings. He urged citizens to cooperate with rescue teams and local authorities during emergency operations.

The president appreciated the efforts of rescue workers, emergency personnel, volunteers, and officials who continue to assist affected communities despite difficult weather conditions. He also prayed for the safety of people across the country.

The ongoing monsoon spell has caused widespread destruction in several provinces. At least 37 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents, while many others have been injured. Heavy rainfall has triggered flash floods and landslides, damaging houses, roads, bridges, crops, livestock, and public infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab.

Hrithik Roshan reacts amid Kangana Ranaut’s CJP controversy

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has found himself back in the headlines after social media users claimed he liked a post mocking Kangana Ranaut amid the actress’ ongoing controversy involving her remarks about the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and student protests in India. The speculation began after a Reddit user shared a screenshot allegedly showing Hrithik’s verified Instagram account liking a meme directed at Kangana. Although the original Instagram post has since been deleted and the like cannot be independently verified, the screenshot quickly went viral, reigniting public interest in the former co-stars’ long-running feud. The meme referenced Kangana while addressing Hrithik directly. It read, “Hrithik Bhai, you could’ve taken one for the team. Kyun khula chhod diya ise desh par?” The post jokingly suggested that Hrithik should have prevented Kangana from becoming a public figure, prompting widespread discussion online after the alleged like surfaced. The viral claim emerged as Kangana continues to face criticism over her comments regarding student-led protests linked to the NEET paper leak controversy. The actress had criticised the protest videos circulating on social media, describing them as “puke-inducing.” Her remarks led to a public exchange with Cockroach Janta Party spokesperson Saurav Das, whom Kangana criticised by questioning his identity as a student. Speaking about Das, Kangana reportedly said, “I googled this person and he is 28 years old. How he claims to be a student I have no clue!” Responding to the actress, Das issued a statement to ANI, correcting her claims. He said, “Even Google provides incorrect information to Kangana Ranaut. It suggests I am 28, but I am actually 27. I am not a student either; Google would confirm that I am not a student. I am a journalist, and I have never claimed to be an active student. I am a student of life… She should also strive to be one.” While Hrithik has not publicly commented on the controversy, the alleged Instagram activity has fuelled speculation that the actor may have subtly reacted to the ongoing trolling surrounding Kangana. However, because the original post has been deleted, there is no independent confirmation that the like was genuine. Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut have shared one of Bollywood’s most high-profile public disputes, dating back to 2016. Their feud began after Kangana referred to Hrithik as her “silly ex” during an interview, implying the two had previously been in a relationship. Hrithik strongly denied the claim and sent the actress a legal notice demanding an apology. The dispute later escalated, with Kangana alleging that the actor had pursued her during the filming of Krrish 3, while Hrithik consistently maintained that no romantic relationship had existed between them. Over the years, the legal and public battle between the two actors has remained one of Bollywood’s most talked-about celebrity feuds, and the latest viral social media claim has once again brought their long-standing dispute back into the spotlight.

Uganda backs sending troops to planned Gaza peace …

Uganda’s Parliament has approved a government proposal to deploy troops to a planned international peace and stabilisation force for Gaza, marking the country’s first commitment to the proposed multinational mission. The resolution was introduced by Uganda’s Minister of Defence and received parliamentary approval following debate among lawmakers. With the decision, Uganda joins Morocco, which has also announced its willingness to contribute troops to the proposed force. The Ugandan government has not publicly disclosed the diplomatic discussions or political considerations behind its decision. However, the move sparked debate in Parliament, with opposition members expressing concerns about the potential implications for Uganda’s foreign policy and regional relationships. Opposition lawmaker Hassan Kiromera questioned the mission’s objectives, asking which parties Ugandan troops would ultimately be expected to confront if deployed. He argued that the government should provide greater clarity regarding the mandate of the proposed force before committing military personnel. Defence Minister Jacob Oboth-Oboth defended the proposal, stating that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) possess extensive experience in international peacekeeping operations, including missions in Somalia and other conflict zones. He said that this experience would enable Ugandan troops to contribute effectively to efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in Gaza. According to the report, the proposed Gaza International Stabilisation Force is expected to consist of approximately 20,000 personnel from multiple countries. The force is reportedly planned under a proposal associated with US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace and would be commanded by US Major General Jasper Jeffers. The mission is intended to help maintain law and order in Gaza following the end of hostilities between Israel and Hamas. Reports indicate that the proposal was first introduced earlier this year as part of broader discussions on post-conflict governance and security arrangements in the territory. The development follows recent announcements regarding a reported agreement under which Hamas would disarm and Israel would gradually withdraw its military forces from Gaza. Under the reported framework, the international stabilisation force would be deployed after the phased Israeli withdrawal. However, uncertainty remains over the implementation of the proposed arrangement. Israeli officials have reportedly expressed serious security concerns after reviewing the reported agreement, arguing that certain provisions could pose risks to national security. As a result, questions remain about the timeline and conditions for the deployment of the multinational peace force despite Uganda’s parliamentary approval.
