Iran says US-Israel attacks damaged 100 commercial aircraft

Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh has claimed that Iran lost around 100 commercial aircraft during the US-Israeli attacks on the country.

She made the remarks during a press conference in Tehran, according to Iranian media.

Sadegh said the aviation sector suffered major losses during the conflict. She said airports and other important infrastructure were targeted during the attacks.

She added that Iran Air continued operating Hajj flights despite the difficult circumstances. According to the minister, the airline used eight aircraft to operate the flights during the conflict.

Sadegh said the damage was not limited to the aviation sector. She claimed that electricity and water facilities were also targeted. Several other key infrastructure installations were reportedly affected.

Despite the attacks, transport services continued to operate in several parts of the country.

The minister said railway services remained active during the conflict. Road transport also continued. Port operations were also maintained despite the security situation.

Sadegh further claimed that the United States and Israel attacked around 400 cities across 25 Iranian provinces.

She said the attacks caused extensive damage to civilian and commercial infrastructure. According to her, around 100,000 commercial and residential units were damaged during the conflicts imposed on Iran.

The Iranian minister described the damage as extensive. She said the country’s transport infrastructure faced serious pressure during the fighting.

The aviation sector was among the areas affected by the conflict. Damage to aircraft and airport infrastructure created additional challenges for domestic and international air travel.

Despite these difficulties, Iranian authorities said essential transport operations continued. Railway networks, roads and ports remained operational during the conflict.

The Iranian government has repeatedly accused the United States and Israel of targeting civilian infrastructure. Washington and Tel Aviv have presented their own justifications for military operations against Iran.

    Lahore: A shocking alleged sexual assault inside Lahore’s Ghaziabad Police Station has triggered the suspension of the entire station staff, including the Station House Officer (SHO), as authorities investigate the incident. According to police officials, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Imran allegedly brought a young woman to the police station on the pretext of questioning her. A sentry on gate duty reportedly asked about the woman, and the ASI claimed she was a suspect being taken in for investigation. He then allegedly took her into an investigation room, where the assault is said to have occurred. Police said the officer later dropped the woman back home. Her family had gone to the police station to report her missing but were informed during the process that she had already returned. Following the allegations, the accused ASI was arrested, while the investigation in-charge was also suspended. The incident prompted the suspension of all 78 personnel posted at Ghaziabad Police Station, including the SHO. DIG Operations Faisal Kamran said that although different police units operate within a station, the SHO is ultimately responsible for maintaining discipline and oversight. He added that all activities taking place inside the station should fall under the SHO’s knowledge and supervision. Police also confirmed that the alleged victim is mentally vulnerable, and an investigation into the case is underway.

Researchers are now comparing before-and-after images of the lunar surface to identify the exact location of the strike. NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and South Korea’s Danuri lunar spacecraft are expected to capture images of the impact site in the coming days. Scientists say processing and analysing the data could take several days or even weeks before the first confirmed images are released. Experts describe the incident as a valuable scientific experiment because the size, speed and mass of the object were known in advance. Unlike natural meteor impacts, the predictable nature of the collision allows researchers to better understand how craters form and how lunar material behaves after a high-speed impact. However, astronomers also say the incident highlights the growing problem of space debris. Thousands of human-made objects now remain on or around the Moon, and experts warn that increasing congestion in space could pose challenges for future exploration missions if debris is not managed more effectively. Meanwhile, SpaceX continues its regular launch operations. The company successfully launched another Falcon 9 rocket from Florida on a separate mission carrying satellites into orbit, underscoring the growing pace of space activity as agencies and private companies expand their exploration programmes.
