Jennifer Garner sends heartfelt message as Ben Aff…

Jennifer Garner has seemingly paid a touching tribute to Ben Affleck’s late mother, Chris Anne Affleck, during a difficult time for the actor and his family. Although Garner did not release an official statement, fans quickly noticed a subtle yet meaningful gesture that many believe was dedicated to the beloved family matriarch following her passing.

Over the weekend, the 13 Going on 30 actress was spotted at the Brentwood Farmers Market in Los Angeles wearing a casual white T-shirt featuring the French phrase, “Maman Je T’aime,” which translates to “I love you, Mom.” The heartfelt message sparked widespread speculation online, with many interpreting it as a quiet tribute to Chris Anne Affleck, who died peacefully in her sleep on June 2 after battling pancreatic cancer. She was 83 years old.

Chris Anne Affleck, a Harvard graduate and longtime elementary school teacher, was admired not only for raising Oscar-winning actors Ben and Casey Affleck but also for her lifelong dedication to education, civil rights, and community service. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2025 and spent her final months surrounded by family. One of her last wishes was to attend her grandson’s high school graduation, a milestone she proudly celebrated just two days before her passing.

Garner and Ben Affleck were married from 2005 until their separation in 2015 and finalized their divorce in 2018. Despite ending their marriage, the former couple has remained committed to co-parenting their three children—Violet, Fin, and Samuel—and has often been praised for maintaining a respectful and supportive relationship.

Jennifer also shared a close bond with Chris Anne throughout her marriage and long after the divorce. The two were frequently photographed together at family gatherings, school events, and outings with the children, highlighting a relationship that extended beyond legal ties. Friends and fans have long admired the warmth and mutual respect they shared, making Jennifer’s recent gesture even more meaningful.

Ben Affleck has often credited his mother for shaping his life and career. In past interviews, he praised her intelligence, dedication to public education, and unwavering encouragement as he pursued acting. Her influence extended beyond her family through decades of teaching and activism, leaving behind a legacy that touched countless lives.

While Jennifer Garner has not publicly addressed Chris Anne Affleck’s passing, her understated message has resonated with many fans. At a time when Ben Affleck and his family continue to grieve, the simple expression of love serves as a reminder that meaningful relationships and lasting family bonds often endure, even after life takes unexpected turns.

18 terrorists killed in Balochistan operation: ISP…

Eighteen suspected terrorists were killed in Balochistan’s Surab district after an explosives-laden vehicle detonated prematurely, followed by a security operation against fleeing militants, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident occurred on the morning of August 12 while the militants were preparing a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED). The premature explosion killed eight militants at the site, while several others were reportedly injured. ISPR said additional explosives stored by the militants also detonated. The blast reportedly caused the deaths of three civilians living or working near the area. Following the explosion, security forces and Balochistan Police launched a joint clearance operation. The objective was to identify those involved in the incident and locate other militants and their facilitators. During the operation, security personnel detected several militants attempting to flee the area. Ten more militants were subsequently killed in an exchange of fire, according to ISPR. The military said the combined death toll among the militants involved in the incident had reached 18. Two security personnel were also injured during the operation. Security forces have continued sanitisation activities in the area to search for any remaining militants and clear possible threats. The military said counter-terrorism operations would continue under the government’s broader Azm-e-Istehkam framework. It said security and law-enforcement agencies remained committed to preventing terrorist groups from establishing a foothold in the country. The latest operation comes a day after security forces reported killing five militants during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Panjgur district. Balochistan has remained one of Pakistan’s key security challenges, with militant groups repeatedly targeting security personnel, civilians and government installations. The province has witnessed several major attacks in recent months, prompting increased coordination between the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and Balochistan Police. Security officials say operations are being conducted to disrupt militant networks, identify facilitators and prevent further attacks. The authorities have also repeatedly warned that militant groups operating in Balochistan pose a threat to both civilian life and national security.

IHC reserves decision on Imaan Mazari, Hadi Chatth…

The Islamabad High Court on Friday reserved its decision on whether petitions seeking the suspension of prison sentences awarded to lawyers and human rights activists Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha can proceed. The petitions relate to the couple’s convictions in a case involving alleged controversial social media posts under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). The hearing was conducted by Justice Muhammad Azam Khan, who considered preliminary arguments from both the prosecution and the defence before reserving his ruling on the maintainability of the petitions. During the proceedings, lawyers representing the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) argued that the requests for suspension of sentence had been filed too early. They maintained that the court should first decide the prosecution’s objection challenging the admissibility of the petitions before considering any request for relief. The prosecution submitted that hearing the suspension petitions before deciding its objection would make its legal challenge ineffective. It therefore requested the court to first determine whether the petitions were legally maintainable. Counsel for Imaan Mazari and Hadi Chattha opposed the objection and said he was ready to argue the prosecution’s application immediately. He suggested that both the objection and the suspension requests should be heard together to avoid unnecessary delays in the proceedings. The judge advised the defence to fully prepare its arguments, observing that doing so would better protect the legal rights of the convicted lawyers. However, the defence maintained that it was prepared to proceed without delay and formally waived any request for additional preparation time. After hearing submissions from both sides, Justice Azam Khan stated that the court would first determine whether the petitions seeking suspension of sentence were legally maintainable. Only after resolving that issue would the court consider the merits of the requests for suspension of the sentences. At the end of the hearing, the Islamabad High Court reserved its decision on the prosecution’s objection. The ruling will determine whether the petitions can move forward for further consideration. Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha were convicted by a sessions court earlier this year and received a combined sentence of 17 years’ imprisonment on multiple charges under PECA

UK faces potential red weather alerts as fifth heatwave of 2026 brings 36C temperatures

The United Kingdom is preparing for a fifth heatwave this summer, with temperatures projected to reach 36C and prompting the Met Office to consider issuing rare red weather alerts. The extreme heat poses severe risks of disruption across railway lines and power networks, whilst compounding growing concerns over drought and food security. Following a temporary drop in temperatures on Monday, heat levels across England and Wales are expected to climb rapidly. Sunday marked the 35th day in 2026 where British temperatures exceeded 30C, hitting a peak of 30.6C. Met Office meteorologist Tom Morgan indicated that mid-30s temperatures will become widespread on Wednesday and Thursday, with Thursday currently tracking as the hottest day of the week and holding a small chance of exceeding 36C. The prolonged period of dry conditions has left half of England and Wales grappling with near-drought environments, and officials warn that further regions could soon be declared affected zones. Alongside potential infrastructure damage, authorities are highlighting risks to health and agricultural output. The Met Office confirmed that formal amber and red warnings are under active consideration as the situation develops. Meanwhile, the UK Health Security Agency has put yellow heat-health alerts in place across the East Midlands, West Midlands, South East, South West, East of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, and London. These health advisories remain active through Tuesday evening, with potential extensions if extreme conditions persist.

The 2026 programme will offer 16 scholarships for master’s degree programmes and one scholarship for a doctoral programme. The initiative is primarily aimed at young officers serving in Pakistan’s Federal Civil Service and Ex-Cadre services. The scholarship programme is designed to enhance the professional expertise of government officials by providing them with opportunities to acquire advanced academic knowledge and specialized skills in Japan. Officials who benefit from the programme are expected to contribute to policymaking, public administration and Pakistan’s broader socio-economic development after completing their studies. The two countries have maintained development and economic cooperation for decades, with Japan supporting Pakistan through grants, technical assistance, training programmes and other capacity-building initiatives. The continuation of the JDS programme is expected to further deepen bilateral cooperation while equipping Pakistani public-sector officials with knowledge and skills that can support more effective governance and economic development.

Experts call for gender-responsive water policies …

LAHORE: The growing impact of water insecurity and climate change on women took center stage at a dialogue titled “Women and Water,” jointly organized by Women in Struggle for Empowerment (WISE) and the University of Home Economics, Lahore. The event brought together academics, development professionals, and civil society representatives to advocate for inclusive and gender-responsive water governance in Pakistan. Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor of the University of Home Economics, Prof. Dr. Zaib-un-Nisa, underscored the urgent need to tackle water pollution, plastic waste, and inadequate water treatment systems. She stressed that sustainable solutions require greater investment in scientific water management, wider adoption of rainwater harvesting, improved household water storage, advanced recycling technologies, and university-led awareness campaigns to encourage responsible water use. Executive Director of WISE, Bushra Khaliq, said that Pakistan’s water challenges cannot be effectively addressed without recognizing their disproportionate impact on women and girls, who often bear the greatest burden of water scarcity. She emphasized the importance of drawing lessons from organizations working directly in urban water management and called for stronger collaboration among government institutions, academia, civil society, and local communities. She also urged policymakers to ensure women’s voices, experiences, and leadership are fully integrated into water governance at every level. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Iram Rubab, Head of the Sociology Department at the University of Home Economics, described water as a multidimensional issue linked to health, agriculture, family welfare, livelihoods, sociology, and environmental sustainability. She encouraged interdisciplinary dialogue and collaborative research, noting that adopting a gender perspective in water management leads to more effective identification of challenges and practical solutions, particularly as women remain the primary managers of household water resources. The participants agreed that addressing Pakistan’s growing water crisis requires policies that not only strengthen water management but also recognize the vital role of women in ensuring sustainable and equitable access to this essential resource.
