JPMC doctor seeks relief amid patient death contro…

A senior doctor at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) has asked to step down from her responsibilities amid controversy surrounding the death of a 65-year-old patient who was shifted from the hospital’s emergency department to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) on July 28.

Dr Sanobar Sikandar, JPMC’s only senior emergency medicine specialist, submitted a request to the hospital’s Executive Director seeking relief from her duties as an assistant professor of medicine. She cited mounting professional pressure, internal interference and what she described as an unhealthy working environment.

Dr Sanobar said the hospital administration criticised her after asking her to explain the circumstances surrounding the patient’s death. She said the situation had made it increasingly difficult for her to continue managing her medical, teaching and administrative responsibilities effectively.

In her application, she highlighted what she described as a lack of professional respect in the emergency department, political interference and inappropriate conduct by some junior doctors. She said these issues had caused her severe mental stress and made it difficult to continue working under the prevailing conditions.

The Young Doctors Association (YDA) Sindh has backed Dr Sanobar and urged the JPMC administration to address the dispute immediately.

YDA Sindh Chairman Dr Mehboob Noonari said Dr Sanobar is the hospital’s only FCPS assistant professor in emergency medicine. He noted that she also serves as faculty for the FCPS programme and supervises trainee doctors.

Dr Noonari warned that her departure could seriously disrupt emergency medicine training at JPMC and may even put the FCPS programme at risk of closure.

He also alleged that the administration was pressuring Dr Sanobar to protect the doctor who was in charge of the night shift when the incident occurred. He questioned why the night-shift in-charge was being shielded and demanded that hospital authorities clarify the matter.

The YDA chairman further claimed that senior doctors had questioned Dr Sanobar over her decision to issue an explanation regarding the patient’s death, raising concerns about the handling of the case within the hospital.

Eight Sindh public university vice chancellors see…

The vice chancellors of eight public-sector universities in Sindh have reportedly begun efforts to secure extensions as their first terms in office are set to expire over the coming months. The development follows the reported extension granted to Professor Dr Nusrat Shah, vice chancellor of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University Larkana and daughter of former Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. According to reports, the first four-year term of Dr Nusrat Shah is due to end on January 1, 2027. Sources at the Sindh Chief Minister’s House said a summary seeking her extension has reached the chief minister while reports suggest that approval may already have been granted. However, the reported approval has not been independently confirmed. The extension issue is expected to become a major challenge for the Sindh government which serves as the controlling authority for public universities in the province. Sources said that the reported development regarding Dr Nusrat Shah has encouraged other vice chancellors whose tenures are also approaching completion to seek extensions. The vice chancellors of several universities are expected to complete their current terms between January and March 2027. Among them are Dr Iqbal Uddin Aijaz of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro and Dr Zahid Hussain Khand of Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design and Heritage Sukkur. Their five-year terms are expected to end on January 1 and January 19, 2027, respectively. Sources said summaries concerning their possible extensions could also be forwarded to the provincial government soon. The report also mentions a controversy involving Dr Iqbaluddin Aijaz with questions reportedly being raised over multiple gold medals awarded to his son at the university. The issue could potentially affect consideration of his extension, according to sources. Other university heads whose terms are approaching completion include Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro University Vice Chancellor Arabela Bhutto, IBA Sukkur Vice Chancellor Dr Asif Sheikh, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Vice Chancellor Dr Taha Hussain, Nusrat Bhutto Women University Sukkur Vice Chancellor Tehmina Nungraj and Dawood University of Engineering and Technology Karachi Vice Chancellor Dr Samreen Hussain. The provincial government has recently extended the tenure of only one vice chancellor, Dr Amjad Siraj Memon of Jinnah Sindh Medical University. Meanwhile, extension proposals for Dr Khalid Iraqi and Dr Farooq Hassan have reportedly been rejected. The emerging situation is likely to place further attention on the Sindh government’s policy for appointing and extending the terms of public university vice chancellors.

Kylie Kelce opens up about difficult pregnancy fas…

Kylie Kelce is never afraid to keep it real, especially when it comes to motherhood. The podcast host recently opened up about one of the least glamorous parts of pregnancy—finding comfortable clothes—and admitted that she simply “didn’t like” most maternity fashion. During a recent episode of her podcast, Not Gonna Lie, Kylie reflected on dressing through her pregnancies and explained that comfort always came before style. As the mother of four daughters, she said she quickly learned that traditional maternity clothing often failed to meet her expectations, leaving her searching for easier and more practical alternatives.  Rather than filling her wardrobe with maternity outfits, Kylie revealed that she frequently turned to her husband Jason Kelce’s oversized XXL T-shirts. The retired NFL star unknowingly became her fashion lifesaver, with his loose-fitting shirts offering the comfort she couldn’t find elsewhere. Laughing about her approach, Kylie summed up her pregnancy fashion philosophy in one simple sentence: “If it fits, you wear it.” She admitted she still borrows Jason’s shirts even after giving birth because they remain some of the most comfortable pieces in her closet.  Although Kylie owned maternity jeans, they were far from her favorite choice. She confessed that she rarely wore them because they never felt as comfortable as she had hoped. Instead, she preferred lightweight maternity dresses, explaining that they offered better airflow and were much easier to wear throughout pregnancy, particularly during warmer months.  The 33-year-old also recommended one wardrobe staple that carried her through different stages of motherhood: Lululemon Align high-rise leggings. According to Kylie, the stretchy pants worked well before, during and after pregnancy, making them one of the few items she considered a worthwhile investment.  Kylie has built a loyal following by speaking honestly about motherhood, pregnancy and postpartum life without trying to present a picture-perfect image. Whether discussing body changes, parenting challenges or everyday mishaps, she has consistently encouraged women to embrace practicality over unrealistic expectations. Earlier this year, she also spoke openly about the emotional challenges of postpartum body changes, reminding mothers that adjusting to a new body takes time and patience.  Married to former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce since 2018, Kylie often credits her husband for supporting her through every stage of parenthood. While borrowing his clothes may have started as a practical solution during pregnancy, it has become a humorous reminder of how the couple navigates family life together. Kylie’s candid reflections have resonated with countless mothers who have struggled with maternity fashion. By sharing both the frustrations and the funny moments, she continues to remind women that pregnancy isn’t about looking perfect—it’s about finding what makes you feel comfortable, confident and supported.
