Koh Samui French Zoo Owner Sought After Deportation Order Issued

SURAT THANI, Thailand – Immigration authorities in Surat Thani are actively searching for French national K. Dimino on Koh Samui to formally notify him of a deportation order signed by Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, as officials believe the zoo operator may be in hiding after learning of the directive. The Ministry of Interior order directs that Dimino be deported from the kingdom, citing alleged threatening and harassing behaviour, physical aggression, causing public nuisance, creating serious racial and religious division among tourists, and reckless conduct that could endanger others.

Thailand Orders French National Deported Over Samui Dispute

Dimino, who co-owns Samui Exotic Park on the resort island with his Thai wife, was seen driving a BMW sedan at high speed before parking at the zoo and disappearing from view, according to reports. A reporter who visited the site found the area quiet, with no tourists and no apparent activity from staff or Dimino’s wife. Immigration records show Dimino has operated a pet cafe on Koh Samui for approximately nine years.

The case follows a dispute involving an Israeli national who was ordered deported after a court conviction for intimidation. The Israeli is currently being detained at Koh Samui Police Station pending removal from Thailand. Speaking through a close associate, he denied threatening anyone, stating he respects Thailand and its legal system and never thought he would be deported for expressing opposition to a Palestinian flag on the island.

The dispute centred on Samui Exotic Park, where Dimino displayed a Palestinian flag and barred Israeli visitors following what operators described as repeated problems with some Israeli tourists. Videos circulated online appearing to show Dimino confronting and headbutting an Israeli man during an altercation.

The zoo later posted social media images showing an Israeli flag marked with a red no-entry symbol beside a shooting target and a Free Palestine flag. The park operator filed a police complaint alleging a group of Israeli tourists had repeatedly violated zoo rules and later harassed her and threatened to harm her family and burn down her home and zoo.

Both men have the right to appeal the deportation order directly to the prime minister within seven days of being notified. Prime Minister Anutin, who also serves as interior minister, has stated that Thailand welcomes tourists from across the world but expects them to respect Thai laws, customs and culture, adding that those who behave inappropriately may be asked to leave the country.

Israeli man deported from Koh Samui under Thailand’s new deportation rules

Authorities have stressed that foreigners living on or visiting Koh Samui must follow Thai law strictly and must not create problems for Thailand or island residents, urging the public not to judge whole nationalities by the actions of individuals.

    PML-N challenges Rathore’s victory in AJK consti…

MUZAFFARABAD: PML-N candidate Chaudhry Mohsin Aziz has challenged the election result of Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s LA-17 Haveli-Kahuta constituency, alleging irregularities in the compilation of results and seeking a recount of votes. The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has accepted the petition for hearing and summoned the relevant parties in Muzaffarabad. Mohsin has alleged that the official result was changed through manipulation of election documents. He claimed that results received from polling stations showed him winning the constituency by a significant margin. According to his claim, the results compiled by presiding officers showed him leading by around 8,600 votes. He alleged that there was a substantial discrepancy between those results and the figures later submitted to the returning officer. The PML-N candidate said he had approached the returning officer and requested a recount but his request was rejected. He has also called on PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to support a recount. Mohsin said he would leave politics if a transparent recount showed that he had not won the constituency by a substantial margin. The disputed constituency was won by PPP candidate and AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, according to the officially issued result. Form-27 showed Rathore securing 33,872 votes, while Mohsin Aziz received 32,354 votes. Independent candidate Tariq Saeed stood third with 12,538 votes. Mohsin has disputed these figures and alleged that the result was altered after the polling process. He also alleged that armed individuals intimidated voters at some polling stations during election day. He claimed tensions increased after the rival camp realised that it could face defeat. The PML-N candidate has vowed to pursue the matter through the electoral process and said he would not accept what he described as an attempt to deprive him of his mandate. The election commission’s decision to hear the petition has formally brought the disputed result before the relevant electoral forum. The proceedings will determine whether a recount or any further action is warranted. Political tensions in the constituency have also continued following the election. Several vehicles parked along a roadside in Hoter village were reportedly vandalised. Local residents said the windows of the vehicles were smashed during an alleged attack. The vehicles were reportedly parked outside the residence of senior PPP leader Zahid Hashmi, who is also president of the International Kashmir Peace Forum Europe. According to local sources, individuals associated with the PML-N and an independent candidate were allegedly involved in the incident. The allegations have not been independently verified. Some of the affected vehicles reportedly belonged to people who had travelled from Saudi Arabia to participate in the election. The affected individuals alleged that, besides damaging their vehicles, the attackers took passports and cash from some of them.

Trump targets birthright citizenship again after c…

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has signed two executive orders seeking to restrict birthright citizenship, renewing his administration’s challenge to a constitutional provision just weeks after the Supreme Court rejected his earlier attempt. The new orders, signed on Thursday, take a narrower approach than Trump’s previous directive and focus on specific categories of children born in the United States. The administration argues that the measures fall outside the scope of the Supreme Court’s June 30 ruling. Birthright citizenship has been a central issue in Trump’s immigration agenda, with the White House particularly targeting what it describes as “birth tourism” — a practice in which pregnant foreign nationals travel to the US to give birth so their children can obtain American citizenship. At the signing ceremony in the Oval Office, White House aide Stephen Miller said the administration was formally moving to end the practice, declaring that “birth tourism” was banned under the new orders. The executive orders also seek to restrict citizenship rights for children born to certain foreign government employees and children of people classified as “alien enemies.” They could potentially have implications for people born in US territories if Congress approves proposed legislation seeking to end automatic citizenship there. Trump’s latest move comes only weeks after the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 against his earlier attempt to restrict birthright citizenship. His first executive order, issued in 2025, instructed federal agencies not to recognise citizenship for children born in the US when neither parent was an American citizen or lawful permanent resident. The 14th Amendment has traditionally been interpreted as guaranteeing citizenship to people born on US soil, with limited exceptions including children of foreign diplomats and members of an enemy occupying force. Trump criticised the Supreme Court ruling, calling it a “very unfortunate decision” and arguing that businesses and individuals were exploiting the citizenship system through birth tourism. However, legal experts and immigrant rights groups have questioned whether the new orders can withstand judicial scrutiny. The American Civil Liberties Union predicted that the administration’s latest effort would fail in court, while advocates accused Trump of attempting to bypass the Supreme Court. Deborah Fleischaker of UnidosUS said the high court had recently reaffirmed that birthright citizenship was a constitutional guarantee and argued that presidents could not alter it through executive action. The 14th Amendment’s Citizenship Clause states that all persons born or naturalised in the United States and subject to its jurisdiction are US citizens. The Supreme Court’s June ruling, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote, reaffirmed the principle that citizenship represents the right to participate fully in the country’s political community. The latest orders are therefore expected to trigger another legal battle, potentially putting Trump’s immigration policies and the constitutional interpretation of birthright citizenship back before the courts.
