Mark Consuelos reveals why Kelly Ripa is missing f…

Fans tuning in to Live with Kelly and Mark this week quickly noticed that Kelly Ripa was absent from her usual spot beside husband and co-host Mark Consuelos. Addressing viewers at the start of the show, Consuelos explained that Ripa is taking time off to recover from a painful gum graft surgery and is following strict medical advice as she heals.

Opening Monday’s episode alongside guest co-host Kevin Jonas, Consuelos reassured fans that Ripa is doing well despite the discomfort. “Kelly sends her love,” he said before revealing that she had recently undergone the dental procedure. He added that doctors have instructed her not to talk during her recovery, making it impossible for her to return to the show until she has healed properly.

According to Consuelos, Ripa’s dentist first recommended the surgery nearly five years ago. At the time, she decided to postpone it, joking that she did not think she would still be hosting the daytime talk show years later. Now, with the procedure finally behind her, she is focused on following every instruction to ensure a smooth recovery.

Although Ripa is known for having an exceptionally high tolerance for pain, Consuelos admitted that this surgery has been especially challenging for her. He shared that she has been limited to soft foods and has even been warned not to inspect the surgical area while it heals. The television host also joked that staying quiet might be the hardest part for his famously talkative wife.

With Ripa temporarily sidelined, Live with Kelly and Mark has welcomed a lineup of celebrity guest hosts. Kevin Jonas stepped in to co-host the first episodes of the week, while Mila Kunis, Pamela Adlon and Scott Foley are also scheduled to appear alongside Consuelos during Ripa’s absence. The rotating guest hosts will keep the show running until she is ready to return.

A gum graft is a common dental procedure used to treat receding gums by attaching healthy gum tissue to areas where it has thinned. While the surgery helps protect teeth and improve long-term oral health, recovery can take one to two weeks and often requires patients to avoid talking, strenuous activity and certain foods.

For now, Ripa is expected to remain off the air for about a week while she continues healing at home. Consuelos assured viewers that she appreciates all the well wishes and looks forward to returning once she has fully recovered. Until then, fans can expect her husband to keep them updated while steering the show with a series of special guest co-hosts.

Trump backs Infantino as FIFA power struggle intensifies

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind embattled FIFA president Gianni Infantino, warning that removing the football chief would be a “terrible mistake” as opposition to Infantino grows within several major football confederations. Trump’s intervention came after UEFA, CONCACAF and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) jointly criticised Infantino in an unusually strong open letter, accusing him of damaging trust and placing his authority above the wider football community. “If, for any reason, they even considered replacing President Gianni Infantino,” Trump said on Truth Social, “FIFA would be making a terrible mistake.” The US president described Infantino as “fantastic” and praised his leadership of the expanded 2026 World Cup, which was hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Trump also argued that the tournament had been the most successful World Cup ever and warned that FIFA could struggle to maintain the same level of success and profitability without Infantino. The public backing is significant because Infantino is facing growing resistance over a controversial proposal to bring private investment into FIFA competitions, including the World Cup. The plan was eventually withdrawn after fierce opposition from European football authorities. UEFA had threatened to boycott future World Cups if the investment proposal went ahead, describing the arrangement as an opaque and questionable deal. The pressure ultimately played a major role in Infantino abandoning the plan. The FIFA president received renewed support from senior officials during an emergency meeting in Morocco last week. However, UEFA, CONCACAF and AFC dismissed that backing, arguing that the meeting did not address the concerns raised by the confederations. The three bodies accused Infantino of failing to uphold the principles of accountability and collective leadership. They stressed that football’s governing structure should not revolve around one individual. The dispute could have major consequences ahead of the FIFA presidential election scheduled for March 2027. Infantino, who has led FIFA for a decade, is seeking a fourth and final term. Candidates must declare their intentions by November 18. CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani is regarded as a potential challenger, although Infantino continues to enjoy support from several influential football bodies. The Confederation of African Football has backed him, while South American governing body CONMEBOL remains broadly supportive. Several individual national associations have also expressed support. However, FIFA’s voting system means individual member associations—not confederations—will ultimately decide the election. Infantino’s position had appeared secure after the successful 48-team World Cup, but the private investment controversy has dramatically changed the political landscape. The latest confrontation has therefore turned the road to the 2027 FIFA election into an increasingly intense power struggle, with Trump now openly backing Infantino while several major football authorities demand greater accountability and collective decision-making.

India denies role in Sheikh Hasina’s planned vir…

NEW DELHI: India has firmly denied any government involvement in a virtual address that former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to deliver to mark two years since the political uprising that forced her from office. The clarification came after reports suggested that the online event, scheduled to be held in New Delhi, had official backing. India’s Ministry of External Affairs rejected those claims, insisting the government has no connection with the programme. Speaking at a weekly press briefing on Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the event was being organised by a private media organisation and not by the Indian government. “The Government of India has no role in organising this event,” Jaiswal said. He added that New Delhi neither endorses nor supports the views that may be expressed during the programme. The statement comes amid heightened political sensitivity surrounding Sheikh Hasina, who has been living in self-imposed exile in India since her government was toppled following student-led protests in 2024. According to media reports, the 78-year-old former premier is expected to make her first public appearance since leaving Bangladesh, addressing supporters and viewers via video link from New Delhi. The event is being hosted by the Foreign Correspondents Club of South Asia. Her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, is also expected to participate alongside other speakers. Meanwhile, authorities in Dhaka have reportedly instructed local media outlets not to broadcast or provide live coverage of Hasina’s virtual speech. The move reflects the continuing political tensions surrounding the former prime minister and her Awami League. Sheikh Hasina remains one of the most influential and controversial figures in Bangladesh’s recent political history. After losing power, she was convicted in 2025 on charges of crimes against humanity linked to a crackdown on anti-government protesters. A court sentenced her to death, a verdict she has rejected as politically motivated and legally invalid. Her planned address is expected to draw significant attention across South Asia, with supporters viewing it as a symbolic return to the political spotlight, while critics see it as another chapter in Bangladesh’s ongoing political divide. India’s latest statement appears aimed at distancing itself from any perception of official involvement, as New Delhi seeks to avoid diplomatic friction with Dhaka while continuing to host the former Bangladeshi leader. With regional attention focused on the event, Sheikh Hasina’s speech is likely to reignite debate over Bangladesh’s political future and her possible role in it.

Their first player maintained a consistent tempo throughout, comfortably defeating his Swiss opponent without dropping a game. The momentum continued in the second match as Pakistan once again displayed superior skill, movement, and composure on court. The Swiss player struggled to match the pace and precision of the Pakistani representative, who wrapped up the contest in straight games to give his team an unassailable 2-0 lead. With the tie already secured, Pakistan’s third player completed the clean sweep in equally convincing fashion. Producing another composed display, he claimed victory in straight games to seal a 3-0 triumph for the team. The result highlighted Pakistan’s strong form in the tournament, with every player contributing to back-to-back victories during the group stage. Shadab Khan sees bowling boost ahead of Champions Cup final

MULTAN: Pakistan Greens captain Shadab Khan believes his bowling is steadily improving as his unbeaten side prepares to face Pakistan Gold in the final of the National Champions Cup 2026. Greens have enjoyed an impressive run through the tournament, winning all three of their matches under Shadab’s leadership. Their consistent performances have also been powered by a strong batting display from Fakhar Zaman, who has emerged as one of the competition’s standout performers. Fakhar has scored two successive centuries and currently leads the tournament’s run-scoring charts with 238 runs at an outstanding average of 119. Shadab praised his team’s overall approach, saying the players had adapted well to local conditions and successfully carried forward the work completed during the recent National Cricket Academy (NCA) white-ball camp. “Our attitude in the field has been really good,” Shadab told the Pakistan Cricket Board’s digital platform. He said the squad contained several players familiar with the conditions and credited the entire team for building on their preparations at the NCA. “The whole team has put in a great effort and for me they all stand out,” the all-rounder added. Despite Greens’ unbeaten record, Shadab is not taking Gold lightly. He warned that their opponents’ route to the final made them particularly dangerous, with Gold securing qualification after taking advantage of a narrow opportunity. “We will try to keep things simple in tomorrow’s final while also knowing that a team like Gold that got into the final through a small opportunity can be dangerous,” he said. The final will provide another important test for Shadab, who is looking to make a bigger contribution with both bat and ball. He has so far taken two wickets in three matches, while his batting scores have included an unbeaten 34, 61 and seven. Shadab said he was encouraged by the gradual improvement in his bowling and remained focused on contributing whenever his team needed him. “I feel my bowling is also improving gradually, and with the bat I try to stand up whenever the team needs me,” he said. With Fakhar in outstanding form and Greens carrying an unbeaten record, Shadab’s side will enter the final with confidence. However, the captain knows Gold can upset the odds if his players lose focus in the decisive contest.

After releasing one hit, he would wonder what would come next, while another successful track could still leave him questioning whether audiences would continue to appreciate his work. However, as his career progressed and his albums gained recognition, he began to understand the responsibility that came with being a major artist. Atif also acknowledged the significant role Bollywood played in expanding his popularity. His songs for Indian films introduced his voice to an even wider audience and contributed to his international recognition.
