Mark Zuckerberg’s $300m superyacht faces scrutiny after ignoring distress call from stranded vessel in Alaska

Questions have been raised regarding Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg after his $300 million vessel reportedly ignored a call to assist a stranded boat off the coast of south-east Alaska.

The 387-foot luxury yacht, named Launchpad, was positioned closer to the helpless 21-foot skiff than the commercial cruise vessel that ultimately stepped in to provide aid.

According to an eyewitness account shared on Bluesky by a traveler on the Wilderness Legacy (operated by UnCruise Adventures), the captain informed guests that maritime authorities had tried reaching the billionaire’s vessel first.

The passenger noted that their vessel performed the rescue after the US Coast Guard tried contacting Mark Zuckerberg’s yacht, which sat at a shorter distance, and reported that the crew repeatedly ignored the radio broadcasts.

Representatives for Zuckerberg and his partner, Priscilla Chan, have strongly disputed the claim that the crew knowingly ignored a distress signal.

Spokesperson Brian Baker clarified to Forbes that neither Zuckerberg nor Chan were present on Launchpad during the incident. He further stated that the crew was monitoring a different radio frequency at the time and maintained that rescue operations were already under way by the time the message was reviewed.

The small skiff had been left immobilised after running out of fuel while traveling between Petersburg and Juneau.

Zuckerberg, who heads Meta Platforms, has not issued any personal statement concerning the event.

He described meetings with family members, doctors and lawyers as Imran Khan’s fundamental legal right. He urged the judiciary to address the matter and ensure that the former prime minister received appropriate medical attention. Gohar said the party’s concerns would not end until Imran Khan was provided proper medical treatment and regular access to his family and legal team. He also criticised what he described as a prolonged dispute over access to the PTI founder. Gohar said the situation had continued since October and called for an end to what he termed a “cat and mouse game”. The PTI’s demands came shortly before the Supreme Court was scheduled to hear matters concerning Imran Khan. The jail report had recommended increasing family interaction to help manage his anxiety and blood pressure. It also contained details of his medical examinations and treatment. PTI leaders argued that the reported health concerns should be treated seriously and that hospitalisation would ensure closer medical supervision. The party has also continued to call for access to Imran Khan’s personal physicians, saying they should be allowed to assess his condition independently. He argued that the items belonged to the estate and sought financial compensation.  However, the High Court rejected Mitch’s claims after hearing evidence from both sides. Naomi Parry and Catriona Gourlay maintained that the belongings had either been gifted to them by Amy herself or already belonged to them. The court accepted their explanation and ruled that there had been no deliberate attempt to conceal the auction sales.  Deputy High Court Judge Sarah Clarke was also critical of Mitch Winehouse’s handling of the case. According to the judgment, the court found that he had pursued weak claims without properly checking the facts before initiating legal proceedings. The judge further stated that he was an unreliable witness and awarded legal costs on an indemnity basis, a decision that reflected the court’s disapproval of the way the litigation had been conducted.  Following the ruling, Mitch was ordered to make interim payments totaling just under £1 million toward the legal costs incurred by Parry and Gourlay. In addition to those payments, reports indicate that Mitch also accumulated substantial legal expenses of his own during the lengthy court battle.  Naomi Parry welcomed the verdict, saying the judgment completely cleared her name after years of accusations that she described as deeply damaging to her reputation. She also expressed relief that the legal dispute had finally come to an end.  Amy Winehouse remains one of Britain’s most celebrated musical talents, remembered for iconic songs including Rehab and Back to Black. Although the legal dispute has concluded, the case has once again drawn public attention to the management of her legacy and the challenges surrounding the preservation of her personal belongings.
