Mayor of Takhian Tia Prioritizes Elderly Care with Vision Screening Drive: “See Clearly, Live Confidently”
TAKHIAN TIA, Thailand – August 14th, 2026 – Mr. Mitchai Prakobtham, Mayor of Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality, presided over the official opening of the Eye Abnormality Screening and Vision Correction Project for the Elderly for Fiscal Year 2026. The event took place at the Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality Office Building.
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Mayor Mr. Wachira Suchoe, municipal executives, council members, heads of government sections, Dr. Malinee Singhasuwit (a member of the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization), administrative officials, and a large number of local senior citizens.
The project was launched out of concern for the health and quality of life of elderly residents in the area. Its main goals include screening for eye abnormalities, measuring visual acuity, referring those with irregularities to ophthalmologists for confirmation, and providing appropriate eyeglasses to address unclear vision.
In his remarks, Mayor Mitchai stated: “Good vision is a fundamental foundation for living safely and with quality.” He stated that older people frequently experience age-related issues such as presbyopia, blurred vision, or other eye abnormalities. Regular screening, he noted, enables early detection and timely care.
During the initiative, elderly residents of Takhian Tia Subdistrict received vision screenings, eye examinations, and eyeglasses for those found to have problems. The program was carried out in cooperation with Sap Charoen Optical Center.
Takhian Tia Subdistrict Municipality reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to supporting residents of all ages, with particular attention to the elderly, regarded as vital pillars of families and the community, so they can “see clearly, travel safely, live confidently, and enjoy a good quality of life.”
