Actor Monica Barbaro has opened up about what she believes is the biggest warning sign in modern dating while continuing to attract attention for her relationship with actor Andrew Garfield.

The 36-year-old actor shared her views during the red carpet premiere of her upcoming film One Night Only, where she was asked about relationship habits that immediately raise concerns.

Barbaro said one of the clearest red flags is when a person shows no curiosity about their date and spends the entire conversation talking only about themselves. She explained that several of her friends have experienced similar situations, describing it as a common complaint in today’s dating culture.

According to Barbaro, meaningful conversations require mutual interest. She said it is a warning sign when someone fails to ask even a single question about the other person, as it reflects a lack of genuine interest in getting to know them.

The actor added that healthy relationships are built on communication, attentiveness and equal participation in conversations. In her view, a one-sided discussion can reveal important aspects of a person’s personality early in the relationship.

Barbaro’s comments come as public interest in her romance with Andrew Garfield continues to grow. The pair first sparked dating speculation after they were seen together around the 2025 Academy Awards, with fans closely following their appearances over the past year.

Most recently, Garfield attended the premiere of One Night Only to support Barbaro, further fuelling interest in their relationship. Although the couple has largely kept their personal life private, their public appearances together have continued to attract attention from fans and entertainment media.

    Iran’s National Security Council chief Mohsen Rezaei has warned that the interests of countries assisting the United States in its economic war against Iran could be targeted. In an interview, Major General Mohsen Rezaei urged Iran’s neighbouring countries not to cooperate with Washington against Tehran. He warned that Iran could consider them hostile if they joined the US economic campaign. Rezaei said Iran did not want to escalate the conflict. According to Rezaei, the US had expected to end the conflict within a few days and take control of Iran’s oil and gas resources. He claimed that around 1,200 oil tankers had become unusable during the conflict, affecting 15 per cent of the global fleet. He said Tehran should reconsider its approach to the conflict and its diplomatic engagement with the international community. Rezaei accused Washington of failing to honour its commitments. Rezaei said Iran was no longer the same country it was before the conflict. He described new military appointments by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei as a sign that Iran was preparing for war. He added that the perception of the United States among Iranian youth had also changed. According to him, many young Iranians no longer view America as a country committed to peace. Rezaei accused Washington of betraying negotiations, diplomacy and agreements it had signed. He also warned that US policies could encourage more countries to seek nuclear weapons. He criticised US President Donald Trump and claimed that the world had begun viewing Iran differently. Rezaei said Iran would change its approach to warfare and use the lessons learned from the current conflict in any future war. Asked about the Makkah agreement involving Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, Rezaei said it indicated that the United States had informed those countries of its intention to leave the region. On former Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, Rezaei said those who believed his return would turn Iran into a “paradise” should reconsider their view. He claimed that bringing Pahlavi back to power could instead lead to Iran being divided into five parts.

    The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has decided to keep its benchmark policy interest rate unchanged at 11.50% following the latest meeting of its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). The decision reflects the central bank’s cautious approach as it continues to monitor inflation, economic growth, and global developments that could influence Pakistan’s financial outlook. The policy rate has remained at 11.50% since April 27, with policymakers choosing to maintain the current stance despite recent inflationary pressures. During the meeting, the committee reviewed key economic indicators, inflation trends, and the potential impact of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East on Pakistan’s economy. Speaking at a press conference, SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad said inflation had eased significantly during the first half of the fiscal year. Average inflation between July and February stood at 5.5%, remaining within the lower end of the central bank’s target range. However, rising global oil prices, higher food costs, and increased shipping expenses triggered by tensions in the Middle East placed renewed pressure on prices in the following months. According to the central bank, inflation rose to 11.7% in May before easing slightly to 11.1% in June. The governor expressed optimism that inflation would begin to decline again from July, with a more noticeable improvement expected after September. For the current fiscal year, the SBP projects average inflation to remain close to 7%. The governor also highlighted improvements in Pakistan’s broader economic indicators. He noted that the country’s current account deficit narrowed significantly during the previous fiscal year to $139 million, while the current fiscal year’s deficit is expected to remain between zero and one percent of GDP. Strong remittance inflows have played a major role in supporting the external sector, with overseas Pakistanis expected to send around $44 billion this fiscal year, up from $41.6 billion in the previous year. The SBP also expects exports to improve gradually with government support, stronger performance from the information technology sector, and growth in food exports. While imports have increased, improved external financing has helped meet the country’s payment needs without creating excessive pressure on foreign exchange reserves. Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves are projected to remain around $20.2 billion by the end of the year, while the country is expected to meet its external debt obligations through a combination of repayments, refinancing arrangements, and continued financial inflows. The central bank reaffirmed that it will continue to monitor domestic and international economic developments before making any future changes to monetary policy.

    Zeeshan Rokhri claims Sangeeta offered low pay for film Makho

    Pakistani singer Zeeshan Rokhri has claimed that he turned down an acting offer for the upcoming film Makho because of what he described as an unacceptably low payment. The singer claimed that during discussions, Sangeeta’s team informed him that Moammar Rana, one of Pakistan’s most recognizable film actors, had been signed for the project for PKR 500,000. Rokhri said he was surprised by the figure and decided not to join the film. Expressing his disappointment, Rokhri argued that paying a senior actor such a modest amount does little to support the country’s entertainment industry. He said artists deserve compensation that reflects their experience and contribution, adding that better financial investment is necessary if Pakistan’s film industry hopes to compete with larger regional markets. “If we want our film industry to grow and compete with Bollywood, then the budgets also need to match that ambition,” Rokhri said during the interview. He added that performers should be compensated accordingly if the industry expects high-quality productions and long-term development.     110 stranded Pakistani students return from Afghan…

    Another group of 110 Pakistani students has safely returned from Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing following efforts to facilitate the repatriation of citizens affected by tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Earlier, around 70 Pakistani students were also repatriated through the same crossing about a month ago. The repatriation process was carried out smoothly under agreed arrangements aimed at addressing humanitarian concerns. In addition to the return of students, authorities also permitted 592 Pakistani cargo trucks to re-enter the country through the Torkham border. The move is expected to provide relief to transporters and traders whose commercial activities had been disrupted due to restrictions at the border. Border officials said the phased return of students and commercial vehicles was made possible through coordinated efforts involving diplomatic representatives, border security authorities from both countries and local facilitators working to improve cross-border movement.

    Pakistani artist and fashion designer Misha Japanwala has achieved a major international milestone, collaborating with the creative team behind director Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster epic The Odyssey to design two custom sculptural pieces worn by Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o. ​In Nolan’s cinematic adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek poem, Nyong’o portrays the iconic role of Helen of Troy—mythology’s “face that launched a thousand ships.” The collaboration came about directly through Nyong’o, who previously wore a custom breastplate designed by Japanwala to the 2023 Tony Awards and personally recommended the Pakistani designer to the film’s Oscar-nominated costume designer, Ellen Mirojnick. ​Speaking about the creative process, Mirojnick explained that capturing the essence of Helen of Troy required balancing an enigmatic, regal presence with the film’s grounded realism. To achieve this look, Japanwala created an asymmetrical neck and shoulder plate crafted in bronze, designed to resemble a sculpted piece of classical statuary. Nyong’o wears the metallic structure as a capelet layered over a draped gown during a pivotal scene where Helen hosts Telemachus (played by Tom Holland) in Sparta. ​For Helen’s final scene in the film, Japanwala designed a second piece: a gleaming bronze choker paired with a heavy chainmail caftan-gown.
