Nadia Khan issues blunt warning to Sajal fans

Pakistani television host and actress Nadia Khan has spoken about the online criticism she says she has faced from some fans of actress Sajal Aly.

The discussion took place during a recent episode of Nadia’s programme Kya Drama Hai, where she addressed reactions to her comments about the drama Zanjeerain.

Nadia explained that she had previously pointed out what she considered a technical mistake by the director while discussing the drama. According to her, she did not make a direct criticism of Sajal Aly, but some of the actress’s fans nevertheless brought her name into the discussion.

She said the situation became more noticeable after she praised actress Dur-e-Fishan Saleem for her performance in Dar-e-Nijat. Nadia claimed that some users then began discussing her comments on her other programme and linking the matter to Sajal Aly.

The host questioned why her comments about one actor or a director were being connected to another actress. She maintained that her original remarks were focused on the work and direction rather than on Sajal Aly personally.

Nadia also urged social media users to show more patience and avoid creating unnecessary controversies around actors. She suggested that fans should focus on supporting their favourite artists rather than targeting other people online.

According to Nadia, online fan conflicts can ultimately have a negative impact on the celebrities whom fans are attempting to defend. She said that social media discussions are widely visible and can affect how the public perceives an actor.

The television host also clarified that she was not accusing the actors themselves of creating the controversy. She attributed the situation to sections of their fan communities and said that the behaviour could unintentionally damage the reputation of the celebrities they support.

Nadia has remained a prominent figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry for years. Alongside her television work, she has developed a significant digital presence through her YouTube platform and social media accounts.

She is currently associated with programmes including Kya Drama Hai and Rise & Shine, where she regularly discusses television, entertainment and current trends in the industry.

The letter was signed by senior PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Sarfraz Cheema, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Ijaz Chaudhry and Mahmood-ur-Rasheed. In their letter, the detained leaders appealed to the public to participate in the Jamaat-e-Islami sit-in. They urged citizens to support the protest and raise their voices on political and public issues. The support from the imprisoned PTI leaders comes as Jamaat-e-Islami continues its protest and demands action on issues highlighted by the party. The letter was presented to participants at the sit-in, conveying the PTI leaders’ position despite their detention at Kot Lakhpat Jail. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore has called for the release of all political prisoners. The party has also specifically demanded the release of PTI founder Imran Khan. Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore maintained that political prisoners should be released and called for political issues to be addressed through democratic and legal means.

    Bus crash on Hungarian highway kills twelve Polish…

    Twelve people died and dozens more sustained injuries after a bus carrying Polish pilgrims veered off a motorway in Hungary and crashed into a ditch early Sunday. Police said the bus overturned after leaving the M3 motorway, which links the Hungarian capital Budapest with the northeastern city of Nyíregyháza, at around 1:00 a.m. local time, or 2300 GMT Saturday. Investigators believe the driver fell asleep at the wheel, and he has since been taken into custody. State media reported that firefighters have rescued 35 of the 57 passengers and two drivers who were aboard the bus. According to the Hungarian news agency MTI, emergency crews initially worked to lift the rear axle of the 24 tonne vehicle to free people trapped underneath before cranes arrived on scene to lift the entire bus. Hungary’s ambulance service said it treated one person with life threatening injuries, nine others with serious injuries and 37 more with minor injuries following the crash. Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar offered his condolences to the victims’ families and wished the injured a swift recovery. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk echoed those sentiments and said he had ordered a special Polish aircraft carrying foreign ministry officials and medical personnel to travel to the scene, saying Poland stands together with those affected during the difficult moment. The bus had been returning from Bosnia and Herzegovina and was carrying pilgrims from Poland’s southernmost region of Podkarpacie, according to the Polish news agency PAP. Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski said his Hungarian counterpart informed him that police had already begun questioning the driver as part of the investigation into the crash.

The senior actor has become one of the most recognisable faces in the industry, not for playing a hero or a villain, but for the very specific and endlessly repeated role of the Nikah Khuwan, the marriage officiant who presides over the wedding ceremonies that are a staple of Pakistani television storytelling. In a recent interview with BBC Urdu, Abu Rohan finally spoke at length about how this unusual acting career began, and the story is as unexpected as the career itself. It started not in a drama studio but in a jewellery shop. Abu Rohan is, by profession, a successful jeweller based in Karachi.     Heavy rain disrupts traffic, floods low-lying area…

    Heavy rainfall disrupted routine life across Lahore on Saturday, leaving several roads, underpasses and low-lying neighbourhoods inundated and causing difficulties for motorists and pedestrians. The downpour led to significant water accumulation in different parts of the city, slowing traffic and making several routes difficult to navigate. Residents in low-lying areas faced particular inconvenience as rainwater gathered on streets and roads. According to rainfall figures recorded by the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), Lahore received an average of 24.6 millimetres of rain. The highest rainfall was recorded at Lahore Airport, where 104mm was reported. Kahna received 75.6mm, while 62.6mm was recorded at Hadiara Defence Road and 58.6mm at Manawan. Rainfall was also recorded in Tajpura, Mughalpura, Shadipura, Defence Phase-VI, Farrukhabad, Saggian, Lakshmi Chowk, Chowk Nakhuda and other areas. Although the rain provided relief from the prevailing heat and brought cooler weather, waterlogging created problems for commuters and once again highlighted the challenges faced by Lahore’s low-lying areas during heavy showers. Wasa Lahore mobilised field teams and heavy machinery to remove accumulated water from affected locations. Officials continued drainage operations at several underpasses, major roads and low-lying points across the city. Wasa Managing Director Ghufran Ahmed inspected drainage activities at several key locations, including Mubeen Shaheed Underpass, Noor Jehan Road, MM Alam Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Qaddafi Stadium and Liberty Chowk. He also reviewed operations at Kalma Chowk Underpass and other emergency drainage facilities. Officials said disposal stations in areas affected by power outages were being operated with generators to ensure that drainage work continued without interruption. Wasa Vice Chairman Chaudhry Shehbaz Ahmed also inspected water drainage arrangements at several locations, including Shalimar Link Road, Bhagwanpura, UET and nearby areas. Meanwhile, Chief Traffic Officer Abdul Rahim Shirazi directed traffic officials to remain present in the field and closely monitor traffic flow and vulnerable points during the rainfall. Traffic police coordinated with Wasa teams to facilitate the removal of standing water and advised motorists to drive carefully on slippery roads. Drivers were urged to maintain a safe distance, avoid sudden braking and reduce speed. Motorcyclists were advised to wear helmets and avoid unnecessary overtaking. Citizens were also warned against entering roads where floodwater appeared deep or unsafe.
