Netflix finally unveils Pakistan’s biggest series

Pakistan’s first original Netflix series, “Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samait Lo,” is reportedly set to premiere by the end of 2026 after facing repeated delays that left fans uncertain about its future.

The series is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by acclaimed writer Farhat Ishtiaq. First published as a serialized story in 2009, the novel later appeared in book form in 2013 and became one of Pakistan’s most popular contemporary romance novels.

The project marks a major milestone for Pakistan’s entertainment industry as it is the country’s first original production created specifically for Netflix. Unlike several Pakistani television dramas that were added to the streaming platform after airing locally, this series was developed exclusively as a Netflix original.

The drama features one of the biggest ensemble casts in Pakistani television. It stars Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Bilal Ashraf, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Hania Aamir, Iqra Aziz, Sanam Saeed, Ahad Raza Mir, Nadia Khan, along with several other well-known actors. The series has been directed and produced by Momina Duraid.

The project was initially expected to debut in 2025, but its release was postponed without any official explanation. The delay led to widespread speculation among viewers, with many questioning whether the series would ever reach the streaming platform.

Fresh reports now suggest that post-production work is nearing completion. The final editing process is said to be underway, while promotional activities involving the cast are expected to begin in the coming weeks ahead of the planned release.

Despite the latest update, many fans remain cautious after the long wait.     Petrol, Diesel prices rise as govt announces fresh…

    ISLAMABAD: The federal government has increased prices of both petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), citing adjustments under the country’s petroleum pricing mechanism. According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy, the price of petrol has gone up by 45 paisa per litre, while high-speed diesel has become Rs1.16 more expensive per litre. Following the latest revision, petrol will now cost Rs325.43 per litre, compared with the previous rate of Rs324.98. The price of high-speed diesel has risen from Rs382.79 to Rs383.95 per litre. The revised rates were determined after the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) reviewed petroleum product prices in line with the government’s pricing framework, which takes international oil market movements and other relevant costs into account. The latest increase comes shortly after the previous price review, when the government raised the HSD rate by 54 paisa per litre while reducing petrol prices by 94 paisa per litre. The new prices will apply from Friday, August 14, as the government continues its periodic adjustments to petroleum rates in response to changes in global energy markets and domestic cost factors.

Official data obtained through freedom of information requests revealed that police received 16 reports of sexual offences linked to the college during the year ending in June. The reported incidents included allegations of sexual assault, exposure and voyeurism. Separate Ministry of Defence figures showed that 176 complaints involving inappropriate sexual behaviour were recorded at the college between January 2018 and June 2025. Most complaints involved junior soldiers, while dozens concerned permanent staff members. The British Army described the allegations as extremely serious and distressing, stating that criminal or unacceptable behaviour has no place in the armed forces. It said several reforms have been introduced to improve victim support and strengthen the handling of serious offences, including specialist investigations conducted outside the normal chain of command. The Army also said it encourages anyone who has experienced or witnessed misconduct to report it and maintained that the college remains committed to providing a professional, safe and supportive environment for all recruits. However, concerns have grown over the safety of young recruits following previous convictions involving Army personnel for sexual offences and wider reports highlighting sexual misconduct within the armed forces.

Chaudhry said rising fuel costs have severely affected the transport sector, increasing operational expenses and reducing the income of vehicle owners and drivers. Both transport associations urged the government to reconsider the current fuel pricing policy and take steps to provide relief to transporters.
