Nine terrorists killed in Balochistan intelligence…

More than nine terrorists have been killed in intelligence-based operations in different areas of Balochistan, according to security sources.

The operations were conducted under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3. Security forces carried out targeted actions after receiving intelligence about the presence and movement of terrorists.

A major intelligence-based operation was conducted in the mountainous area between Ziarat and Harnai. Security forces surrounded a suspected terrorist hideout after receiving credible intelligence.

The operation resulted in the killing of eight terrorists. Their hideout was also destroyed during the action.

Security forces also conducted an operation in Hajika village in Surab district. One terrorist was killed in the operation.

According to security sources, the movement of terrorists between Dasht-e-Katai and Hajika had been detected before the operation. Security forces tracked their movement and launched the action after confirming their presence.

Weapons and other equipment were recovered from the possession of the killed terrorists. The recovered items included ammunition, magazines, hand grenades, a walkie-talkie, a motorcycle and other material.

Security sources said operations against terrorist groups would continue across Balochistan. They said security forces remained determined to eliminate terrorism and establish lasting peace in the province.

The latest operations are part of continued efforts to prevent terrorist activities and disrupt militant networks. Security forces have intensified intelligence-based actions to target terrorist hideouts and movements.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the successful operations. He said the personnel who foiled the terrorists’ plans deserved the nation’s appreciation.

Naqvi said the operations reflected the security forces’ commitment to protecting national security. He added that the nation stood firmly with the security forces in the fight against terrorism.

The interior minister said operations against Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij were continuing. He made it clear that such actions would continue until the threat of terrorism was eliminated.

    The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for August, raising the cost for both domestic and commercial consumers across Pakistan. The regulator also revised the price of the standard 11.8-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder, which will now cost Rs3,000.92 following the latest increase. The revised prices will come into effect for the entire month of August under Ogra’s monthly pricing mechanism. The increase is expected to place an additional financial burden on households that rely on LPG for cooking and heating, particularly in areas without access to natural gas. Commercial users, including restaurants, hotels and small businesses that depend on LPG, are also likely to face higher operating costs. Ogra reviews LPG prices every month based on prevailing market conditions and other relevant pricing factors before issuing revised rates through official notifications. Consumers are expected to pay the updated prices from the beginning of August unless further revisions are announced by the regulator.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez pushed back against the growing pressure, accusing several EU countries of a selfish, polarizing and unlawful response to the crisis. In a letter sent to Brussels, Sanchez said some European states have chosen to target Spain and push for its temporary removal from the Schengen area, driven by what he described as prejudice, misinformation, ignorance or political motives. EU officials were scheduled to hold an emergency meeting Saturday afternoon to determine next steps in addressing the unfolding migration crisis in Ceuta. The dispute highlights a long running fault line within the European Union over migration policy, as border states facing the brunt of new arrivals often clash with governments pushing for stricter continent wide controls, a tension that has resurfaced repeatedly during major migration episodes over the past decade.

The 25-year-old vessel, carrying an estimated 800,000 barrels of sanctioned Russian crude, ran aground at Qabiliyah Island on 30 June after experiencing an unexplained explosion off Yemen earlier in the month. Severe weather conditions from the regional Khareef monsoon season have accelerated the spread of the slick, which has expanded across more than 2,000 square kilometers of sea. Oman’s Environment Authority confirmed that crude pollution has reached shoreline sediments in the Ras Madrakah area, more than 200 kilometers north of the grounding site, and warned that the slick threatens sensitive habitats including the protected Hallaniyat Archipelago reserve. Environmental advocates and maritime experts have warned that the disaster could worsen dramatically if the increasingly submerged hull breaks open completely, potentially releasing tens of millions of gallons of crude into the Arabian Sea. Recovery efforts remain hindered by monsoon conditions and the vessel’s lack of recognized Western insurance coverage.

    More than 4,000 police personnel will be deployed in Rawalpindi division to ensure security during the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections on August 2. Police officials have prepared a detailed security plan for polling in four constituencies of the division, including Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Murree. A total of 4,029 police officers will be assigned duties at 175 polling stations. The polling stations have been divided into three categories according to their security requirements. Category A includes highly sensitive stations, Category B covers sensitive locations, while Category C consists of normal polling stations. Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa said providing voters with a safe and peaceful environment is the top priority. He added that all available resources would be used to ensure free and transparent elections. He said strict monitoring would be carried out at sensitive polling stations. Additional patrolling and surveillance measures would remain active throughout the polling process. Police officials will also monitor suspicious activities, illegal weapons and any violations of the election code of conduct. Legal action will be taken against individuals involved in disrupting the electoral process. In Rawalpindi district, more than 3,100 police personnel and 200 traffic police officials will be deployed at 100 polling stations. These stations are located in different areas, including Rawalpindi city, Taxila, Wah Cantt, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedan and Kahuta. Among the 100 polling stations, 18 have been declared highly sensitive, 45 sensitive and 37 normal. Security arrangements have also been made for the safe transportation of polling materials. City Police Officer Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera said the police would ensure implementation of the Election Commission’s rules and maintain law and order until the completion of the election process. The AJK elections are being conducted in phases due to security concerns. Authorities have increased security measures after previous election-related tensions and allegations of irregularities.
