Pakistan High Commission London launches direct digital property transfer service for British Pakistanis

In a major step to improve consular services for overseas Pakistanis, the Pakistan High Commission in London has launched a digital property transfer facility, enabling British Pakistanis to transfer property in Punjab without travelling to Pakistan.

Introduced in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directives to enhance services for the Pakistani diaspora, the initiative allows overseas Pakistanis to complete the property transfer process directly at the High Commission after verifying their identity.

Under the new system, applicants are no longer required to issue a Power of Attorney or appoint an agent to handle property transfers on their behalf, reducing the risk of fraud and unnecessary legal expenses.

The digital property transfer process is designed to be transparent, secure, efficient and cost-effective, offering overseas Pakistanis a streamlined alternative to the traditional method of property transactions.

The service is part of a collaboration between the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) and Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, bringing digital land record services closer to the Pakistani community in the United Kingdom.

Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernising public services and facilitating overseas Pakistanis by allowing them to manage property matters from London without the need to travel to Pakistan.

He said the observance of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir reflected the nation’s unwavering commitment to standing with the people of Kashmir and supporting their legitimate right to self-determination. He urged young people to remain informed, responsible, and actively engaged in promoting truth, human rights, and national cohesion. The organisers said the event formed part of the Directorate of Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s continued efforts to engage young people in constructive civic activities while fostering patriotism, national unity, and awareness of issues of national importance.

    RABAT: FIFA has thrown its full support behind president Gianni Infantino despite growing criticism over the now-abandoned proposal to privatise the commercial rights of the FIFA World Cup, while admitting that serious mistakes were made during the handling of the controversial plan. The proposed project, known as the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), aimed to create a new commercial subsidiary responsible for managing tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup and Club World Cup. FIFA estimated the venture could generate up to $4.2 billion, based on a valuation of $20 billion, while significantly increasing financial support for its 211 member associations. Under the proposal, each member nation would have received a one-time payment of $20 million in 2027, with regular funding for the 2027–2030 cycle rising from $8 million to $20 million. However, instead of winning support, the initiative sparked fierce opposition from football stakeholders worldwide. UEFA strongly criticised the plan, describing it as an opaque agreement that lacked transparency, while CONCACAF questioned Infantino’s leadership and governance. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also publicly expressed doubts about Infantino’s ability to continue leading world football. Facing mounting pressure, Infantino withdrew the proposal last weekend, saying FIFA’s primary goal had always been to unite and strengthen the global game. In Wednesday’s statement, FIFA admitted that member associations and the FIFA Council should have been more closely involved from the outset. It also acknowledged mistakes made after the proposal became public and pledged to improve transparency in future decision-making. A formal review of the process will now be conducted, with findings expected to be presented at the next FIFA Council meeting. Officials confirmed that the FFE proposal has been permanently shelved. Many drivers do not follow traffic rules and drive at very high speed. As a result, they lose control of their vehicles and cause serious accidents. Innocent people are injured or even lose their lives, and the drivers themselves also become victims of these accidents. Most of these accidents can be prevented if drivers drive carefully and obey traffic laws. The government should strictly enforce traffic rules, impose heavy fines on reckless drivers, and create awareness about road safety. Drivers should always wear seat belts, avoid using mobile phones while driving, and keep their speed within the legal limit. I hope the concerned authorities will take immediate action to reduce road accidents and make our roads safer for everyone.

    Raja denies authority to remove Mashal from Senate

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja has said he had no authority to remove Mashal Yousafzai from the Senate. He said he chose to overlook the matter to prevent divisions within the party. Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad, Raja said Mashal Yousafzai was not acting alone and had a group supporting her. He said the facts would eventually come before everyone. He added that he would not further fuel an issue that had already been given unnecessary attention in the past. Raja also said he did not know who had made Mashal Yousafzai a senator. Speaking to journalists at the Adiala Jail factory checkpoint in Rawalpindi, Raja said that allegations should be backed by evidence. He said false allegations remained false regardless of who made them. He said he had been practising law and continued to do so. He described some of the statements made against him as completely baseless. Raja said such allegations would have to be answered. He added that the party would take action over the matter. Comments on political developments Speaking about the political situation, Raja said September 27 was not a distant date. He said political activity was continuing on a daily basis. He said time passes quickly and described September 27 as an important date. Raja also said that a revolution could not be brought about by a single political party. He said it required the participation of the entire nation. On negotiations with the government, he said there was currently no formal offer from the government. However, Raja said PTI had not rejected negotiations on principle at any level. He described reports of an alliance with the Pakistan Peoples Party as premature. He said two parties could have similar positions on a particular issue without forming an alliance. PTI denies link with terrorism Raja strongly rejected any alleged connection between PTI and terrorism. He said PTI had never had any association with terrorism. Referring to the person killed in Rawalpindi, he said the party did not know which group the man belonged to or what activities he had been involved in. Raja described PTI as a peaceful political party. He said the party opposed terrorism and had never been part of any violent activity. He maintained that PTI was continuing its political struggle within the framework of the Constitution and the law.

    Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to establish new defence cooperation mechanisms

    ANKARA: Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are set to establish new political and military coordination mechanisms following the signing of a landmark joint defence agreement, as the three countries move to strengthen strategic cooperation amid growing security concerns in the region. Türkiye’s Defence Ministry said on Thursday that the framework agreed by the three countries would bring senior political and military leadership into a structured mechanism aimed at enhancing coordination on defence and security matters. The three nations signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement on August 7, marking a significant development in their security relations. The agreement comes at a time of heightened tensions across the Middle East, with the escalation of regional hostilities raising security concerns among Gulf states and other countries in the region. Under the agreement, an armed attack against any one of the three countries would be treated as an attack against all members. The provision establishes a collective-defence commitment similar in principle to the collective security arrangement contained in Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). High-level political and military coordination According to the Turkish Defence Ministry, the new mechanisms will involve the defence ministers, foreign ministers and military chiefs of Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The arrangement is expected to provide the three countries with a regular platform for consultations on regional security developments, defence policy and potential threats. It could also facilitate closer coordination between their armed forces and government institutions. The agreement reflects the growing strategic importance of cooperation between the three Muslim-majority countries, particularly as regional security challenges continue to evolve. Joint military exercises planned The Turkish ministry also said the three countries were planning joint military exercises under the new defence framework. Such exercises could provide opportunities for their armed forces to improve interoperability, exchange operational experience and strengthen their ability to coordinate during potential security crises. Defence cooperation is also expected to extend beyond military exercises. The Turkish side said the agreement could pave the way for greater collaboration in the defence industry, including joint production, technology sharing and other forms of industrial cooperation. The expanded defence-industry partnership could allow the three countries to explore opportunities for developing and producing defence equipment together while sharing technical expertise and capabilities. Agreement follows rising regional tensions The pact was signed against the backdrop of heightened tensions in the Middle East, which have raised concerns over the security of Gulf countries and critical energy infrastructure. The escalation has also highlighted the importance of collective security arrangements and closer coordination among regional powers. For Pakistan, the agreement represents another step towards strengthening defence and strategic ties with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. Islamabad has traditionally maintained close military and diplomatic relations with both countries. The agreement is therefore expected to broaden cooperation from traditional bilateral defence relations towards a more structured trilateral framework involving political consultations, military coordination and defence-industrial collaboration. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has also clarified the scope and intent of the Makkah agreement, stressing the nature of the arrangement and its broader security objectives. The three countries are now expected to work out the details of the new mechanisms, including the structure of ministerial consultations, military coordination and proposed joint exercises.
