Robert Pattinson to end Batman journey after Matt Reeves trilogy

Robert Pattinson appears set to hang up the Batman cape after completing the upcoming trilogy directed by Matt Reeves, bringing his journey as Gotham City’s iconic vigilante to an end.

Pattinson first stepped into the role of Bruce Wayne in 2022 with The Batman, directed by Reeves. The film offered a darker and more grounded interpretation of the legendary DC character, focusing on a young Batman still finding his place as a crime fighter while confronting corruption across Gotham City.

Following the success of the first installment, Pattinson is returning for The Batman Part II. The highly anticipated sequel is scheduled to arrive in 2028 and will continue the story of Bruce Wayne as he faces new challenges following the events of the first movie. A third film in Reeves’ planned trilogy has also been announced, setting the stage for the conclusion of Pattinson’s version of the character.

According to recent reports, Pattinson has indicated that he intends to portray Batman one final time after completing Reeves’ trilogy. If the plan remains unchanged, the third installment would mark the actor’s last appearance as the Caped Crusader in this particular series.

Pattinson’s debut Batman movie featured a star-studded cast, including Paul Dano as the Riddler and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, better known as the Penguin. Jeffrey Wright portrayed Gotham police officer James Gordon, while Andy Serkis appeared as Alfred Pennyworth.

The first film followed Batman as he investigated the murder of Gotham City’s mayor. His investigation gradually uncovered a larger conspiracy involving some of the city’s most influential figures. As Bruce dug deeper, he was forced to confront disturbing connections between Gotham’s criminal underworld, political corruption and his own family history.

The movie ended with Batman defeating the Riddler’s plans and helping rescue Gotham’s citizens after the city was devastated by flooding. The Riddler was eventually taken to Arkham State Hospital, where he encountered another mysterious inmate.

That brief scene fueled widespread speculation that the prisoner was the Joker, played by Barry Keoghan. Although the character’s appearance was limited, the moment opened the door for a possible larger role in future installments.

The Joker is widely expected to become an important figure in the upcoming storyline, although many details surrounding his involvement remain under wraps. Pattinson’s Batman will also face the challenge of dealing with the consequences of the first film while continuing to protect Gotham.

The Batman Part II is currently scheduled for release on February 18, 2028. Alongside Pattinson, the movie is expected to feature several returning cast members, while Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have also been linked to the project.

AJK police accuse banned JAAC of armed violence, b…

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Police have alleged that the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) is pursuing a coordinated agenda to disrupt peace and destabilise the region, claiming recent clashes with security forces demonstrate that the group has transformed into an armed organisation. Addressing a press conference in Rawalakot, AJK Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Khawar Ali Shaukat said the violence of the past two days contradicted claims circulating on social media that the movement was peaceful. He alleged that armed individuals occupied buildings, established fortified positions and opened fire on police and security personnel using automatic and sophisticated weapons. According to the police, law enforcement personnel had been deployed across various parts of Rawalakot to maintain public order when they came under attack. Shaukat said authorities had exercised restraint throughout the situation but were compelled to respond in accordance with the law after security forces were targeted. The police spokesperson maintained that the nature of the weapons used and the organised tactics adopted during the clashes suggested the involvement of more than an ordinary protest movement. He further claimed that the group’s activities were intended to damage social harmony, weaken the atmosphere of brotherhood in AJK and create instability in the region. Officials said the confrontation claimed the life of a Rangers official, while around 15 police officers and other law enforcement personnel were injured during the exchanges. Police have reiterated that operations are being carried out under the law to restore order, while investigations into the incidents and the alleged network behind the violence remain ongoing.

Ayesha Zafar shines as Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in final T20I

Although Pakistan claimed the final match, Sri Lanka secured the three-match T20I series 2-1 after winning the opening two encounters. Chasing a modest target of 114, Pakistan reached 117 for six in 18.2 overs, with Ayesha leading the run chase through a composed 39 off 31 balls. Her innings featured six boundaries and came at a crucial stage when Pakistan needed stability after losing early wickets. Young batter Shawaal Zulfiqar provided valuable support with a quick 21 from just 12 deliveries, striking three fours and a six to keep the momentum firmly in Pakistan’s favour. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu and Kavisha Dilhari picked up two wickets each, but the hosts were unable to defend their total as Pakistan finished the chase with 10 balls to spare. Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Sri Lanka posted 113 for six in 20 overs. Athapaththu was once again the standout performer for the home side, scoring 34 runs and hitting five fours during her innings. Pakistan’s bowling attack was led by 23-year-old Momina Riasat, who delivered an impressive spell of 2 for 18 in four overs. Ayesha Zafar also contributed with the ball, claiming one wicket before making the decisive impact with the bat. The victory gave Pakistan a much-needed confidence boost after a difficult tour, where they managed two wins from six matches across the ODI and T20I series. Despite losing the T20I series, the final-match triumph offered encouraging signs, particularly through the performances of Ayesha Zafar and Momina Riasat. North Korean missile unit reportedly deploys to Russia for Ukraine war

Ukraine’s military intelligence claims that a North Korean missile unit has started deploying to western Russia, marking what could become a major expansion of military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang. According to Ukrainian officials, the unit may eventually be equipped with up to 120 ballistic missiles and six launchers for use in attacks against Ukraine. Andrii Cherniak, an official with Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence, said around 90 North Korean personnel are expected to be stationed in Russia’s Voronezh region as part of the Russian military’s 112th Missile Brigade. He added that discussions between senior Russian and North Korean officials next month are expected to determine the final deployment plan and missile numbers. Ukraine says North Korea has already delivered another batch of 40 KN-23 and KN-24 ballistic missiles along with military personnel. These missiles reportedly have a longer range and larger payload than Russia’s Iskander missiles, although Ukrainian military sources believe they are less accurate and have caused significant civilian casualties during previous strikes. The reported deployment comes as Russia has resumed using North Korean-made ballistic missiles after nearly a year. Ukrainian authorities say two such missiles were launched last week, including one that struck the village of Radushne in central Ukraine, reportedly killing at least five members of the same family. Ukraine remains heavily dependent on advanced air defence systems, particularly US-made Patriot batteries, to intercept ballistic missiles. Military analysts warn that an increase in North Korean missile supplies would place additional pressure on Ukraine’s already stretched air defence network, especially ahead of the winter months when Russia has previously targeted the country’s energy infrastructure. Cherniak said intelligence suggests Russia intends to integrate North Korean missile forces into its operations, although the exact role of North Korean personnel has not yet been confirmed. He also stated that about 9,500 North Korean troops remain in Russia’s Kursk region, though they are not currently taking part in direct combat operations against Ukraine. Russia and North Korea have strengthened military ties since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The two countries signed a mutual defence agreement in 2024, while Kyiv accuses Pyongyang of supplying millions of artillery shells, ballistic missiles and thousands of troops to support Russia’s war effort.
