Saif Ali Khan opens up about Haiwaan role

Saif Ali Khan is looking forward to the release of his upcoming film Haiwaan, which brings him together with filmmaker Priyadarshan and actor Akshay Kumar. The film has generated interest not only because of its star-studded cast but also because of the unusual character Saif plays.

In Haiwaan, Saif portrays a visually impaired musician and martial arts coach. The actor has described the role as one of the most interesting characters he has taken on in recent years, particularly because of the character’s layered past and the contrasting influences of his parents.

Saif revealed that he discovered an unexpected personal connection between Priyadarshan and his late father, legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, popularly known as Tiger Pataudi. Both Priyadarshan and Pataudi experienced the loss of an eye but continued to achieve success in their respective careers. For Saif, this similarity made his association with the director even more meaningful.

The actor also spoke warmly about Priyadarshan’s personality and working methods. According to Saif, the director’s calm, disciplined and focused approach reminded him of his father. He admired the filmmaker for maintaining a fast pace on set and not giving actors too much time to overanalyse their scenes.

Saif suggested that Priyadarshan’s efficient style can help performers remain natural because they have less opportunity to become overly conscious of their acting. Rather than spending too much time thinking about every detail, actors are encouraged to trust their instincts and deliver their performances.

Haiwaan also marks the seventh collaboration between Saif and Akshay Kumar. The two actors share a long professional history, having first worked together in the 1994 romantic drama Yeh Dillagi. Looking back at their early days, Saif recalled how that film played an important role in bringing the two actors closer and developing their friendship.

This time, however, their roles are expected to create a very different dynamic. Saif believes Akshay’s decision to take on the role of the villain has added another layer of excitement to the project. The actor feels that seeing Akshay in a negative role will make the film more intriguing for audiences.

Saif also offered some insight into his character’s background. His character is shaped by two very different parental influences. While his mother encouraged him to pursue music, his father wanted him to develop skills in martial arts. These influences eventually become an important part of the character’s identity and journey.

The actor has spoken highly of the film and described it as his best work in a long time. His comments suggest that he is particularly confident about the project and eager to see how audiences respond to it.

Saif recently celebrated his 55th birthday on August 16. During his conversations, he also opened up about his family life and noted that his four children have distinctly different personalities. Despite sharing the same family, he said each of them has developed a unique character and identity.

With its combination of action, music, drama and an unusual storyline, Haiwaan is shaping up to be an important project for Saif. His collaboration with Priyadarshan and Akshay has further raised expectations surrounding the film.

Umera Ahmed urges fans to avoid AI-generated content

Renowned Urdu novelist Umera Ahmed has appealed to readers and content creators to stop producing and sharing AI-generated visuals based on her literary works, saying such content diminishes the emotional and spiritual depth of her stories. In a statement shared through her official Instagram page, Ahmed’s team thanked readers for their continued love and support but expressed concern over the growing number of AI-generated images, videos and reels portraying scenes, characters and dialogues from her novels. The statement urged fan pages and digital creators to refrain from using artificial intelligence to recreate her books. According to the team, literature offers every reader a unique and personal experience, while AI-generated visuals limit that imagination by presenting a fixed interpretation of characters and events. Special concern was raised over Ahmed’s acclaimed novel Peer-e-Kamil, which the team described as a deeply spiritual and emotionally sensitive work. They said its message, beauty and sanctity should not be diluted through artificial intelligence-generated content. While appreciating the passion and dedication of fan communities, the statement encouraged readers to experience and share the author’s work in its original form, allowing the stories to leave their intended emotional impact without technological alteration. The appeal comes as artificial intelligence continues to spark debate within Pakistan’s creative and entertainment industries. Concerns over the misuse of AI have grown in recent months, with artists and public figures warning about its impact on originality, artistic integrity and personal image rights. The discussion intensified after an AI-generated promotional music video released by the Ministry of Planning and Development drew widespread criticism. Separately, television personalities Tauseeq Haider and Farah Saadia were forced to deny false rumours after AI-created images depicting their alleged wedding circulated online. Actor Hira Tareen has also urged fellow performers to carefully review contract terms, warning that some agreements may allow studios to use an actor’s likeness for AI-generated productions without adequate safeguards.

Bilawal rejects AJK election results, demands re-p…

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has rejected the results of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections, alleging widespread electoral irregularities and demanding fresh polling in the constituency contested by senior PPP leader Chaudhry Yasin. Addressing a workers’ convention in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday, Bilawal said his party would not accept what it  described as a manipulated election outcome. He claimed there was substantial evidence of irregularities in several polling stations and called on the election authorities to order an immediate re-poll in the disputed constituency. Bilawal alleged that around 30 polling stations in Chaudhry Yasin’s constituency were unlawfully occupied during the voting process. According to him, videos circulating on social media and obtained by the party show individuals allegedly stamping ballot papers illegally and interfering with the electoral process. He further claimed that these polling stations recorded an unusually high voter turnout of approximately 90 percent, raising questions about the credibility of the results. The PPP chairman argued that the reported turnout, combined with the alleged video evidence, justified a fresh vote to ensure transparency and public confidence in the electoral process. Criticizing the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Bilawal accused the party of benefiting from electoral manipulation. He also made sharp political remarks against the ruling party, alleging that it had a long history of relying on rigged elections. His comments have further intensified the political dispute surrounding the AJK election results. The PPP leadership has urged the relevant election authorities to investigate the alleged irregularities and review the evidence presented by the party. Bilawal maintained that a transparent inquiry and re-polling in the affected constituency are essential to protect the integrity of the democratic process. The PML-N has not issued a detailed response to Bilawal’s latest allegations at the time of writing. Election authorities have also not announced any decision regarding the demand for re-polling. The dispute has added to the political tension following the Azad Kashmir elections, with rival parties exchanging accusations over the fairness of the electoral process. The coming days are expected to be crucial as the Election Commission reviews complaints submitted by political parties and determines whether any further action is warranted. If approved, re-polling in the disputed constituency could have implications for the final political landscape in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

Imran Khan breaks silence on gender stereotypes, feminism and Bollywood’s portrayal of men

Ahead of his much-anticipated return to the big screen, Indian actor Imran Khan has spoken candidly about gender stereotypes, feminism, masculinity, fatherhood and the influence cinema can have on social attitudes. In a recent conversation, the actor explained that his growing concern over the way gender-based assumptions have become part of everyday discussions played an important role in shaping his decision to speak more openly about these issues. Khan said he had become increasingly interested in examining the expectations society places on both men and women. According to him, certain assumptions about how people should behave based on their gender have become so common that they are often expressed without being questioned. The actor said he felt a personal responsibility to contribute to conversations surrounding these issues. Rather than remaining a passive observer, he wanted to use his public platform to encourage people to reconsider ideas that have gradually become normalised in society. Khan also discussed the relationship between feminism and conversations about men’s rights. He argued that debates surrounding both subjects can sometimes become trapped within the same stereotypes they are attempting to challenge. In his view, some men who criticise feminism for being problematic may fail to recognise that their own arguments can be influenced by patriarchal thinking or ideas associated with toxic masculinity. For Khan, feminism should not be understood as an attempt to marginalise men or exclude anyone from the conversation. He stressed that discussions about feminism and masculinity should ultimately focus on equality and creating a society in which people are not restricted by traditional gender expectations. The actor also turned his attention to the portrayal of men in Indian cinema, particularly characters who struggle to cope with romantic rejection. Khan argued that Bollywood has repeatedly presented emotionally immature male characters in a sympathetic manner, often encouraging audiences to overlook their problematic behaviour because the characters are experiencing heartbreak. He criticised films in which a male protagonist responds to rejection with anger, obsession or inappropriate behaviour, while the narrative continues to portray him as a victim deserving sympathy. According to Khan, these stories can unintentionally normalise unhealthy emotional responses and send the wrong message about relationships and masculinity. Khan suggested that cinema has a significant cultural influence and therefore filmmakers should consider how their characters and storylines may shape public perceptions. Instead of constantly justifying problematic behaviour through a character’s emotional pain, films could present more mature and realistic portrayals of men dealing with rejection, relationships and vulnerability. His comments come as he prepares to make his return to acting after a prolonged break from the industry. Khan’s decision to step away from films had kept him largely out of the public eye, making his comeback a significant moment for fans who have followed his career. Now, as he prepares to return to the screen, Khan appears interested not only in acting but also in engaging with wider social conversations. His recent remarks reflect his desire to use his experiences and public platform to question established ideas about gender, relationships and masculinity. With his comeback approaching, audiences will be watching closely to see whether Khan’s renewed presence in cinema also brings a different perspective to the kinds of stories and characters he chooses to be part of.

Martha Stewart row leaves Meghan Markle facing fresh backlash

Meghan Markle continues to face intense media scrutiny following her return to England with Prince Harry. Much of the latest controversy stems from comments made by Martha Stewart. The lifestyle icon claimed Meghan discussed her recent trip at an LA dinner party. Stewart also made pointed remarks about Meghan’s career shift from actress to princess to lifestyle personality. The controversy prompted TalkTV host Kevin O’Sullivan to sit down with commentator Kinsey Schofield to unpack where the story likely originated. Schofield suggested Stewart may not have realised her comments would create problems for Meghan. She described the moment as appearing to be a genuine, unplanned remark from Stewart. According to Schofield, it seems more suspicious that an anonymous source later contacted People magazine specifically to dispute parts of the story. She questioned why someone claiming to have hosted the dinner party would rush to correct the narrative while insisting on staying anonymous. The timing and motive behind that pushback struck her as unusual. O’Sullivan added his own take, acknowledging much of this remains speculation rather than confirmed fact. Still, he said it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Meghan herself being invested enough to want the story corrected. He suggested Stewart likely is not preoccupied with Meghan at all, given her own established status. However, he believed she may feel mildly annoyed by someone stepping into territory she’s long considered her own. O’Sullivan pointed out that Stewart spent decades building her reputation around cooking and home economics expertise. He argued that reputation makes her uniquely qualified in the eyes of the public. He then referenced Meghan’s Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” suggesting it revealed gaps in her lifestyle expertise once viewers actually watched it. According to O’Sullivan, that contrast is likely what mildly irritates Stewart the most. The commentary adds another layer to the ongoing public discourse surrounding Meghan’s post-royal career and public image. With opinions sharply divided, the story shows no signs of fading from tabloid coverage anytime soon.
