Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce’s pets struggle after wedding

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce may have settled comfortably into married life, but their beloved pets are reportedly taking a little longer to adjust to their new family dynamic.

The pop superstar and NFL champion exchanged wedding vows on July 3, 2026, at Madison Square Garden in what was described as a dreamy and intimate ceremony. Since then, the newlyweds are believed to have been enjoying married life and settling into their relationship with ease. However, their pets appear to be facing an entirely different kind of adjustment.

According to people familiar with the couple, Swift’s cats are still getting used to Kelce’s dog, Wendy, who has become part of their shared household. While the couple themselves have reportedly adapted quickly to married life, their four-legged companions are finding it harder to establish a comfortable routine together.

Swift’s cats have spent years enjoying their familiar surroundings and are reportedly not particularly impressed by the arrival of an energetic dog. Wendy, whom Kelce adopted last year, is said to be eager to interact and play with the cats, but the feeling does not appear to be mutual.

The biggest challenge seems to be their very different personalities. Wendy reportedly wants to play and socialize throughout the day, while Swift’s cats prefer a quieter environment where they can relax and have their own space.

The situation has reportedly become a humorous part of life inside the couple’s home, with the animals slowly learning how to coexist under the same roof.

Despite the difficulties, there is reportedly no serious concern among Swift and Kelce’s friends. The couple are said to be handling the situation patiently and allowing their pets to adjust at their own pace rather than forcing them to become close immediately.

The animals are gradually becoming more comfortable around one another and are eventually able to spend time in the same room. Although they may not have reached the stage of cuddling together just yet, their progress is reportedly encouraging.

The situation is also being viewed as a normal part of blending two households after marriage. While Swift and Kelce have already established their rhythm as a couple, their pets are still learning how to share their space and routines.

Interestingly, the pets’ slow adjustment comes as Swift and Kelce mark another important milestone in their relationship. The couple recently reached the one-year anniversary of their engagement, which they publicly announced on August 10, 2025.

For now, the newlyweds appear to be giving their pets plenty of time to settle into their new reality. If their owners’ relationship is any indication, there may be plenty of time for the cats and Wendy to eventually find their own version of harmony.

Brandon King injured after brilliant Babar Azam run-out

TRINIDAD: West Indies endured a significant setback on day three of the second Test against Pakistan after opener Brandon King was forced off the field with a painful lower back injury moments after producing a brilliant run-out to dismiss Babar Azam. The dramatic incident unfolded during Pakistan’s first innings when Babar, who resumed play on an overnight score of 84, looked well placed to end his long wait for a Test century. However, a costly mix-up with fellow batter Abdullah Shafique brought his innings to an abrupt end. Attempting a quick single after guiding the ball into the off side, Babar found himself stranded halfway down the pitch as King reacted sharply from cover. The West Indies fielder gathered the ball cleanly and unleashed a direct hit that caught the Pakistan star well short of his crease. While the dismissal gave the hosts a much-needed breakthrough, it came at a heavy price. King appeared to injure his lower back during the throwing action and immediately collapsed to the ground in visible pain. Medical staff rushed onto the field, and after several minutes of treatment, the 31-year-old was taken off on a stretcher, leaving teammates and spectators concerned. Cricket West Indies later confirmed that King had suffered lower back muscle spasms and would take no further part in day three’s play as a precaution. Team officials added that his condition would continue to be monitored by the medical staff before a decision is made on his availability for the remainder of the match. Earlier in the day, Pakistan resumed on 266-2, with Babar and Abdullah adopting a cautious approach as the West Indies bowling attack maintained disciplined lines and restricted scoring opportunities. The pressure eventually paid off with Babar’s dismissal in the 75th over after he added just two runs to his overnight total. King’s injury has added fresh concern for the West Indies camp at a crucial stage of the Test, with the hosts now awaiting further medical updates while trying to keep Pakistan’s batting lineup under control. The coming days could prove decisive not only for the outcome of the match but also for King’s immediate cricketing future.

Amanda Knox defends comedy show after backlash from Meredith Kercher’s sister

Amanda Knox is standing by her Edinburgh Fringe comedy show, pushing back against claims from Meredith Kercher’s sister that the performance trivializes violence against women. Knox, 39, was convicted and later acquitted of murdering her British roommate Kercher in Italy 19 years ago. She took to Instagram on Thursday to say her show “honors Meredith Kercher’s memory” and “calls out the violence that was done to her and to me.” The show, titled “Cartwheel,” debuted Friday evening and runs for 11 nights straight at the Scottish festival. Its title nods to a widely repeated claim that Knox did cartwheels at the police station after Kercher’s death. The show is being pitched as the story of a woman nearing forty, balancing motherhood while finally processing her wrongful imprisonment. The backlash follows a BBC interview with Kercher’s sister, Stephanie, who said the show “normalizes and trivializes violence against women.” She acknowledged that Knox is free to live her life however she chooses, but argued that turning this particular story into comedy crosses a line. Stephanie stressed that her objection is not about guilt or innocence. She said the same discomfort would apply even if someone else were behind the show, though she admitted it stings more knowing it’s Knox herself. She said she feels strongly that the project shouldn’t be given a platform at all. An online petition demanding the show’s cancellation has gathered more than 4,400 signatures so far. It accuses the show of mocking the tragedy surrounding Kercher’s death and turning it into entertainment. Knox has previously defended the project in other interviews too. She told The Telegraph she believes Kercher would have “appreciated” the show, calling it an honest look at what it means to be a young woman, and even guessed her late roommate would have found parts of it funny. Despite the criticism, Knox appears set on moving forward with the run as planned. The show continues through the rest of its scheduled dates in Edinburgh, with public reaction still divided over whether the format is appropriate for such a painful and personal subject. For now, the controversy has added extra attention to a performance that was already drawing curiosity given Knox’s unusual path from headline-making legal saga to stand-up stage.

PCB warns former cricketers over participation in …

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken strict notice of the participation of several former Pakistani cricketers in the Asian Legends League 2026 being held in Zambia, warning that players who take part in unapproved overseas events without obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) will face disciplinary action. According to the PCB, the tournament has not received official approval from the International Cricket Council (ICC). Reports also indicate that the Zambia Cricket Union has not formally sanctioned the event. Under ICC regulations, current and former players are required to obtain permission from their home cricket board before participating in overseas cricket competitions. The board emphasized that compliance with ICC rules is mandatory and that any violation could result in serious consequences. The PCB stated that individuals who participated in the unapproved league without prior approval would be subject to disciplinary measures in accordance with existing regulations. As part of the announced penalties, those found in violation may be denied an NOC for participation in any overseas cricket league for up to two years. In addition, they may become ineligible for assignments associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board and the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) during the same period. The restrictions could extend beyond playing opportunities and also apply to coaching, mentoring, commentary, administrative roles, and other official responsibilities offered by the PCB. The board said these measures are intended to protect the integrity of cricket administration and ensure compliance with international governance standards. The ICC has also reportedly advised its member cricket boards to take appropriate action against players who participate in unauthorized cricket events. Such guidance aims to maintain uniform enforcement of regulations governing international and domestic cricket activities. Reaffirming its commitment to global cricket regulations, the PCB urged all current and former Pakistani cricketers to obtain the necessary NOC before accepting invitations to participate in overseas tournaments. The board stressed that prior approval is essential regardless of the format or location of the competition. The PCB further stated that it will continue working closely with the ICC and other member boards to ensure consistent implementation of international cricket regulations. Officials believe that adherence to these rules is necessary to preserve the credibility of the sport and maintain professional standards across all levels of cricket. The latest warning serves as a reminder that participation in overseas leagues must follow established approval procedures. The PCB has encouraged players to verify the official status of tournaments and secure the required permissions before committing to any international cricket event to avoid disciplinary action.

Indian youth protest alleged exam irregularities in Jharkhand

Thousands of students and unemployed young people marched toward the state legislature in India’s eastern Jharkhand state on Monday. The protesters were demanding action over alleged irregularities in civil services recruitment examinations. Police used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators as they moved toward the state assembly in the state capital, Ranchi. The protesters accused authorities of failing to ensure transparency in government recruitment exams. They also raised concerns over alleged question paper leaks. The demonstrations began on July 25 and have grown in size in recent days. Thousands of young people had earlier gathered at a stadium in Ranchi as the campaign gained momentum. The protesters are demanding major changes to the state’s examination system. They have also called for the cancellation of certain examinations and a federal investigation into the alleged irregularities. On Monday, demonstrators moved toward the legislature despite heavy security arrangements. Some protesters climbed over police barricades while carrying placards and Indian flags. They chanted slogans and called for action against those responsible for the alleged examination problems. The protests reflect growing frustration among students and unemployed youth in Jharkhand, one of India’s less economically developed states. The state government has held talks with representatives of the protesters. Officials have said that many of their demands have already been accepted. The government has also indicated that it is willing to continue discussions to address the remaining concerns. The demonstrations in Jharkhand come amid wider anger among Indian youth over alleged corruption in recruitment examinations. Similar protests were held in New Delhi in recent weeks. Those demonstrations focused on alleged irregularities and paper leaks involving national-level examinations. The protests eventually contributed to the resignation of India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan last month, following controversy surrounding alleged leaks in a national medical entrance examination. The growing demonstrations have highlighted concerns over unemployment and limited job opportunities for young people. Students and job seekers argue that examination irregularities can damage their career prospects after years of preparation. The protests also reflect broader concerns about transparency in public recruitment and the credibility of competitive examinations.

Gold climbs back near 10-week peak, investors awai…

LONDON: Gold prices rose on Wednesday as investors reduced expectations of tighter US monetary policy and turned their attention to upcoming inflation data that could influence the Federal Reserve’s next interest-rate decision. Spot gold gained 0.6 per cent to $4,391.82 an ounce by 0535 GMT, while US gold futures for December delivery advanced 0.2pc to $4,451.90. The precious metal had reached a 10-week high a day earlier before encountering technical resistance around $4,387, near its 100-day moving average. It subsequently closed lower for the second time this month. Market analyst Kelvin Wong of Oanda said the recent strength in gold was largely driven by changing expectations about Federal Reserve policy. He noted that prices had also gained momentum after breaking above the $4,200 level late last week. Gold recorded its strongest weekly gain since January on Friday after weaker-than-expected US employment figures prompted traders to reduce their expectations of further interest-rate increases. According to the CME FedWatch Tool, markets are now assigning roughly a 50 per cent probability to a rate hike in September, down from about 60pc before the jobs report. Lower interest rates generally benefit gold because the metal does not generate interest, making it relatively more attractive when yields decline. Investors were awaiting the latest US Consumer Price Index figures later on Wednesday for further clues about the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy. Chicago Fed President Austan Goolsbee has meanwhile said inflation remains a greater concern for him than weakness in the labour market. Oil prices also extended their gains after the United States and Houthi forces reported separate attacks involving shipping on Tuesday. Meanwhile, hopes of an end to the Iran conflict appeared to weaken after Tehran indicated that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed unless certain conditions were met.

Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of Sri Lanka Tests

NEW DELHI: India have been dealt a significant setback ahead of their two-match Test series against Sri Lanka after star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out with a knee injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Monday. Bumrah, widely regarded as India’s pace spearhead, has not fully recovered from the left knee injury he sustained during the One-Day International series against England last month. In a statement, the BCCI said the 32-year-old remains unavailable for selection as he continues his rehabilitation. Bumrah has not bowled competitively since the second ODI against England in Cardiff on July 16, where he suffered the injury.   His absence is a major setback for India, particularly with the challenging conditions expected in Sri Lanka, where Bumrah’s experience and ability to strike with the new ball have often made the difference in Test matches.   Replacing him in the 15-member squad is promising fast bowler Aquib Nabi, who receives his maiden senior international call-up after an impressive run in domestic cricket. The 29-year-old pacer from Jammu and Kashmir has emerged as one of India’s brightest bowling prospects, claiming 104 wickets across the last two Ranji Trophy seasons. He also impressed during India A’s recent tour of Sri Lanka, taking six wickets in two first-class matches, performances that earned him a place in the senior squad. India, led by Shubman Gill, will play a warm-up match before the opening Test begins in Galle on August 15. The second and final Test is scheduled to be played in Colombo from August 23 to 27. The series now presents a golden opportunity for Nabi to showcase his talent on the international stage, while India will hope their emerging pace attack can compensate for the absence of one of the world’s premier fast bowlers. With Bumrah sidelined and a new face joining the squad, all eyes will be on India’s bowling unit as the visitors aim to begin their Sri Lanka campaign on a winning note. India squad Shubman Gill (capt), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sai Sudharsan*, Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal, Saransh Jain, Auqib Nabi.
