Tom Holland hints at Spider-Man future as Sony hop…

Tom Holland has opened up about the future of his time as Spider-Man, admitting that he has started thinking about life beyond the beloved superhero role. However, Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman has made it clear that he hopes the British actor will continue wearing the famous red-and-blue suit for years to come.

The conversation comes shortly after the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has become one of the biggest box office hits of 2026. While promoting the film, Holland reflected on his decade-long journey as Peter Parker and revealed that he has begun considering the next chapter for the franchise. Although he is not officially retiring, the actor suggested he would be content “swinging off into the sunset” when the right time arrives. 

Holland explained that he does not want Spider-Man to become a role he outgrows. Instead, he hopes to help introduce the next generation of heroes, particularly fan-favorite Miles Morales. The 30-year-old actor said he would love to remain involved in the franchise by mentoring a future Spider-Man, much like Robert Downey Jr. supported him during his early years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

Despite Holland’s comments, Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman is optimistic that the actor’s journey as Spider-Man is far from over. Speaking after the massive success of Brand New Day, Rothman acknowledged that discussions about the character’s future are ongoing but stressed that no final decisions have been made. He also expressed his hope that Holland will continue portraying the web-slinger, praising his contribution to the franchise’s remarkable success. 

Holland’s recent remarks differ slightly from comments he made earlier this year, when he admitted that saying he should stop playing Spider-Man after turning 30 was something he no longer believed. Looking back, he explained that those earlier statements were made at a different stage in his life and that he now feels grateful for the opportunities the character has given him. He added that he would happily continue if the story remained exciting and meaningful. 

The overwhelming response to Spider-Man: Brand New Day has only strengthened fans’ hopes that Holland will stay with the franchise. The film has earned praise for presenting a more mature Peter Parker while opening the door to future storylines involving new Marvel characters. Many viewers have described it as the beginning of an exciting new era rather than the end of Holland’s journey. 

For now, neither Sony nor Marvel has confirmed when Holland’s final appearance as Spider-Man will come. While the actor is openly thinking about eventually passing the torch, he has also made it clear that he wants to ensure the character is left in good hands. With studio executives eager to keep him and audiences continuing to embrace his portrayal, Holland’s future as Spider-Man remains bright—even if he is already thinking about what comes next.

      The federal detention facility in Miami where social media personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate are being held has faced several problems in recent months, including issues with water, air conditioning and an incident involving detainees and prison staff. The United States Bureau of Prisons (BOP), which manages the facility, confirmed that these problems occurred but maintained that the brothers’ current conditions are reasonable and lawful. Andrew Tate, 39, and his brother Tristan, 38, were arrested in Miami on July 18 following an extradition request from Britain, where they face rape charges. Both men, who hold dual American and British citizenship, have denied the allegations. Their lawyers have criticised the conditions at the Federal Detention Centre Miami, claiming that the brothers are being kept in harsh solitary confinement. Andrew Tate, who has built a large online audience by promoting controversial views about masculinity, has complained about his treatment through posts on X. He has claimed that he was forced to drink dirty water, which caused stomach problems, and that loud shouting from nearby prisoners prevented him from sleeping. He has also alleged that he was not given his daily opportunity for exercise. Prosecutors in Miami responded in a court filing on August 10, saying the brothers are being kept in the facility’s Special Housing Unit for their own protection. They argued that although the detention centre is not a luxury facility, the brothers’ living conditions remain constitutional and within the authority of the Bureau of Prisons. The BOP said an annual water-quality test found the facility’s water safe for drinking. Officials also rejected claims that the brothers lacked basic necessities, stating that they have appropriate beds, food and access to drinking water. Prosecutors further said the brothers are permitted recreation time and can meet with their lawyers. The Tate brothers’ lawyers, however, have described different conditions. They claimed that the brothers’ beds are shorter than their height and that they were not provided with pillows. According to their legal team, the brothers spent 11 of their first 15 days without leaving their cells. The detention centre has also experienced broader maintenance problems. Defence lawyer Paul Petruzzi, who represents several detainees at the facility, said some rooms used for meetings with lawyers became unavailable after water damage caused ceilings to collapse. The BOP said repairs were underway, while several other legal-visit rooms remained available. There have also been problems with the facility’s water pressure and cooling system. Officials said a water-pressure problem occurred on July 1 but was resolved the following day, with bottled water supplied to inmates. An air-conditioning chiller also malfunctioned on July 6 and was later repaired. On July 11, some immigrant detainees reportedly resisted orders to remain in their cells because of the heat. According to the BOP, the situation became confrontational and staff used pepper spray in the air to restore order. The incident remains under investigation. The Tate brothers are expected to ask a federal judge in Miami for bail while they challenge their extradition to Britain.

    PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has called for the provincial police to be equipped with modern weapons, advanced technology and additional resources to strengthen their ability to counter terrorism. He maintained that better resources and welfare measures were essential for strengthening the force. He said K-P’s long border with Afghanistan had created additional security challenges, while the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps were contributing significantly to border protection. He urged the government to provide comprehensive support to all law-enforcement agencies engaged in counterterrorism operations. Addressing a question about cross-border terrorism, Kundi said attacks originating from Afghan territory were unacceptable. He claimed that evidence had surfaced regarding the involvement of some Afghan nationals in terrorist incidents in K-P and said the repatriation of undocumented Afghan nationals was continuing.
