Update on Fatal Bangkok Pub Fire, Started at Stage Say Witnesses, Most of the 27 Dead Found in Bathrooms, At Least 18 People Injured

A fire at Rong Beer Na Ladprao, a popular restaurant and pub on Lad Phrao Road in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district, has claimed at least 27 lives, according to the latest update from Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). The blaze broke out around midnight, turning a lively evening venue into a scene of chaos and loss.

Of the deceased, 9 were male and 18 were female, most reportedly young. Another 18 people were injured and transported to nearby hospitals, including Chulalongkorn, Rajavithi, Rama IX, Paolo Kaset, Phramongkutklao, Petchavej, and Police Hospital. Patients were triaged into red (critical), yellow (moderate), and green (minor) cases.

Survivors and a musician performing at the venue described the fire starting near the stage. Smoke was reportedly seen coming from a circuit breaker or electrical area by the stage, followed by an explosion and thick black smoke that rapidly filled the space. The flames spread quickly, catching many patrons off guard, filling the club and turning into what some witnesses called a blowtorch like blaze through the front doors as visible in viral videos.

Many of those who perished were found in the restrooms, where people had apparently sought refuge or became trapped as visibility dropped and exits were overwhelmed by smoke and panic. Officials continue to investigate the exact cause, with preliminary indications pointing to possible electrical issues. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the scene as forensic teams work to identify victims and determine what went wrong. There will also be a full inspection to determine if the venue had proper and unlocked and working fire exits, sprinklers, fire extinguishers, alarms, and other precautions.

Authorities are still inspecting the site and confirming identities of the deceased. DDPM stated it will release further updates as more information becomes available. This incident has shocked Bangkok residents and raised fresh questions about safety standards in entertainment venues.     Injection marks found on woman who died at Lahore …

    Medical board sources have revealed that injection marks were found on the arm and wrist of one of the two women who died at Township Police Station in Lahore. According to sources, around three and a half hours passed between the time the women were brought to the police station and their deaths. The sources said there was no significant difference in the post-mortem reports of the two women. The exact cause of death, however, has not yet been established. Police sources said the two women were not searched after being brought to the police station. They added that no female police personnel were present when the women were brought to the station. According to sources, both women were brought to the police station following a call made to emergency helpline 15. They reportedly remained seated near the station’s muharrir for around two hours. The muharrir was preparing to send the women to the female lock-up when the situation changed, sources said. Police officials said a case had been registered and the women were subsequently handed over to the investigation wing. They were reportedly being prepared for transfer to jail when both women collapsed. Sources further said there was no CCTV camera installed in the room of the investigation wing where the women were present. Police said female officers assigned to the station were deployed on duty at Data Darbar at the time. Officials maintained that women are searched before being placed in the female lock-up. Meanwhile, medical experts have suggested that the women may have died after consuming or being given a poisonous substance. Experts said the actual cause of death can be determined through forensic examination of samples collected during the investigation. The deaths have raised questions about the circumstances in which the women died while in police custody. Authorities are expected to rely on forensic evidence, post-mortem findings and other available evidence to establish the exact cause of death.

    VC calls for global support to Kashmir cause at UO…

    The University of Okara (UO) commemorated Kashmir Exploitation Day on Wednesday by organizing a seminar and a solidarity walk to reaffirm unwavering support for the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (OJK) in their struggle for the right to self-determination. The event was organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs and attended by a large number of faculty members, administrative staff, and students. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Okara, Prof. Dr. Sajjad Mubin, presided over the ceremony. Addressing the participants, Prof. Mubin highlighted the decades-long suffering of the Kashmiri people and called upon the international community to play its role in ensuring the implementation of the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir. “Kashmir is the lifeline of Pakistan and an issue that remains central to peace and stability in South Asia. The resilient people of Kashmir have made unprecedented sacrifices for their legitimate right to self-determination, and the global community must not remain a silent spectator to their plight,” he said. The VC also paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces for safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “Our armed forces have rendered unparalleled sacrifices to make Pakistan impregnable. Their commitment to national security enables us to stand firmly with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their just struggle,” he added. Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar of the University of Okara, Jamil Asim, said that observing Kashmir Exploitation Day serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to raise awareness about the humanitarian situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. “We stand in complete solidarity with the people of Kashmir and reaffirm our support for their internationally recognized right to determine their own future. Universities have an important role in educating the younger generation about issues of justice, peace, and human rights,” he remarked. The Pro VC, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wajid, and the DSA, Dr. Shoaib Saleem, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of maintaining national unity and continuing moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmiri people. A one-minute silence was observed to honor the sacrifices of the people of Kashmir and to express solidarity with those who have lost their lives during the prolonged conflict. The seminar concluded with a solidarity walk in which the participants carried placards and banners expressing support for the Kashmiri cause and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to the right of self-determination for the people of Kashmir.

    NCCIA summons Lahore resident over alleged social …

    MULTAN: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has issued a notice to a Lahore resident, directing him to appear before its Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in Multan in connection with an inquiry into alleged social media activity. According to an official notice issued under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), Syed Imran Shafqat has been asked to appear before investigators as part of Enquiry No. ENQ-CCRC-MTN-1549/26, registered on July 24, 2026. The notice states that the inquiry concerns allegations that the individual shared false, fabricated, malicious, and baseless content targeting government institutions and public dignitaries through social media platforms. Investigators have instructed him to present himself at the NCCIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre in Multan along with his original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) to record his statement. The agency warned that failure to appear could result in the inquiry proceeding on the basis that no defence or explanation was offered by the recipient of the notice. The notice was issued by Sub-Inspector Tahir Mehmood of the NCCIA Cyber Crime Reporting Centre, Multan, as part of the agency’s ongoing investigations into alleged cybercrime-related offences. It is important to note that the issuance of a notice for appearance forms part of an inquiry process and does not, by itself, establish guilt or liability.

Aseefa expressed deep sorrow over the killing and conveyed her condolences to Hina’s family. She said those responsible for the crime must be identified and brought to justice. Hina Javed was found dead inside the bathroom of her apartment in Askari Apartments, Lal Kurti, on Thursday evening. Police said the initial examination indicated signs of violence and a mark around her neck. Aseefa urged the provincial authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the case. She stressed that the circumstances surrounding Hina’s death must be fully established and that no aspect of the investigation should be overlooked. She said the perpetrators must face the law and called for strict action to ensure that such incidents are not repeated. The First Lady also expressed concern over increasing incidents of violence against women in Pakistan. She called for stronger measures to protect women and prevent violence against them. According to the first information report registered at Civil Lines Police Station on August 20, Hina’s brother, Fahid Javed, accused her husband, father-in-law and a domestic servant of being involved in her death. Fahid told police that he received a call from Hina’s father-in-law at around 6:53pm on Thursday. He was informed about an emergency at the apartment. He then reached the residence with other family members at around 7:23pm. The complainant said he found his sister’s body in the bathroom. He alleged that Hina had been subjected to severe violence and mistreatment. He also raised suspicion that she may have been given a poisonous substance before her death. The FIR was registered under Sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The complaint states that Hina married the main suspect in November 2025. An initial postmortem examination reportedly found a strangulation mark around her neck, an injury below her right lip and bleeding. Police have detained Hina’s husband and a domestic servant in connection with the murder. Her father-in-law is also being questioned as part of the investigation.
