“I will say this with great confidence. This coach is a unicorn. I can’t predict outcomes but I know from thousands of miles on the rv highway that this rig is the real deal. The new owners will have both a show piece and an amazing coach. In the rv world these coaches in well preserved form are showstoppers.”

“Great to see such an excellent example of the car that reset the standard of what to expect from a small car. Not enough people understand how the Accord raised the bar for attractive design and basic equipment. The rustproofing material is most typical of any car sold in western Pennsylvania, where salt use and rust were commonplace… probably instrumental in keeping this car on the road and on your screen today. “Lets talk about tires. It was noted that I spend tons of money restoring these Elans and then use cheap tires. There is a very limited selection of 13″ tires available. You can’t just go to Tire Rack and get Michelin Pilot Sports. They just don’t make them in 13”.
The original tire on an early Elan was a bias ply 145 series. Very narrow. Although you can get some 145 or 165X80 series tires, I prefer the slightly wider but not any taller 165X65X13 tires. They fit the wheel well and still have…”

“Man oh man, nobody writes any more like these guys did. Never knew it was anything other than as-expected and normal when I’d wait for my Car and Driver, Road & Track and Auto Week magazines to arrive in the mail to immediately read from front to back beginning as a 6 or 7 year old in the 70’s.
No wonder I became a car nut. It can be attributed to the brilliant authors of the articles written by these guys.

“Over the past fifty years, we’ve owned too many Saabs to count and a few Porsches along the way. An older perfectly maintained low miles Porsche comes through BaT every week. “Happy 9/28! I’ve owned many cars since I started driving in 2009, and the 928 remains my favorite car of all time. I’ll occasionally go lengthy periods without driving one (months at a time), and begin to question whether something else is worthy of that mantle in my own mind. Then I’ll hop into one and go for a drive, immediately erasing any doubt that it remains top dog.”

“This 599 is an earlier production as in the later production for 2007 the ceramic brakes became standard. Also, Ferrari jacked up the base price from $258k to $321k base price. Significantly increased the cost. These cars are appreciating fast. F-1 transmission is a very nice transmission in my opinion even though general public prefers the clutch version. Good luck.”

“Lauterbach hulls are indeed special as is the family. Thanks for the heads up about the book and reunion. If there was a way to get to the event it sure would be fun.
Back in the 1970’s on Seattles Green Lake were some special times. We would sit on the beach with a battery operated B&W 2 inch TV screen watching Indy and at the same time enjoy the boat races. Some hard core racing with Larry Lauterbach and then Tom D’Eath piloting Lauterbach hulls against John Leach’s Buccaneer.…”

“Did you know that the US Spec engine has a 9.5:1 compression ratio and the Euro spec has 10.3:1 ? Let me tell you, you can feel the difference. Also, did you know that the ’84, with it’s hold over “SC interior” is the lightest of the ’84 to ’89 Carreras?
