“A Volvo PV544 has been my dream car since I was a teenager. I belong to a women’s vintage car club here on the CA Central Coast called the Highway Honeys. “Lemondrop” as I am calling this beauty would be a perfect addition to my life!”

“I owned an ‘85 nearly identical to this. I drove it the way Carroll Shelby intended. I quickly installed the Mopar Performance logic module and after getting the timing dialed in and an AutoMeter boost gauge installed, I was even more ready to “Go Like Hell.” So, one Friday evening in the spring, I was laying down rubber in first and second gear at each stop.
It must have took a while for the officer to catch up from following the squealing Euro T/A’s, as I don’t believe he ever saw…”

“Automatics are great – First, generally driven less spiritedly over their lifetime. Second, the automatic is actually very good. My auto on back roads, 2nd gear could go from about 25 mph to 70 mph. Often with a group of other 02s, I would be pushing the car in front of me that was modified. Third, the auto works while you find that 5 speed that is wider than a 4 speed and what else is wider? The tunnel in an automatic. No hammer needed for installation.

“Back In 1971 fresh out of high school and still 17 worked with my uncle at a local auto repair garage. My job lowest of lowest was the under the car stuff. In came one of these with a transmission leak. My job clean of all the dirt and grime from years of driving so the mechanics could find the leak. Upon getting the OK was told to go clean up and put on a clean set of coveralls. Upon returning was given the keys and told to drive to a nearby by town and back. My jaw dropped to the ground. 17…”

@benzog Looks to be a Larry JR. / Alfa Parts Exchange bellhousing. A very robust casting.
@Stockpat97 Assuming you’re asking about cam belt replacement, the belt & tensioner are easily accessed with the radiator removed.
@Alfaman Right, not easy maneuvering the V6 into place but I’ve done it solo 3 times during the build. Once its in access around the engine is really not bad at all.”

“Dean Batchelor and Phil Hill agreed that if one has only one Ferrari, make it a 330 GTC. It does everything so well. As said, not only does it NOT need power steering, leave off all options including AC and Borrani wire wheels on these cars. The AC in this era had an ugly compressor, was very heavy and not very effective. Borrani’s are certainly beautiful but along with the attaching hardware are much heavier than the race proven Campagnolo disc wheels with their P car style provenance.…”

Brings back wonderful memories as I learned how to drive on my Dad’s ‘60 Bonneville convertible ..He was a “car guy”having several Chrysler letter cars before I talked him into the Bonneville. Our neighbor had a ‘59 Bonneville convertible and he took me for a ride on a warm summer night with the top down …When he hit the gas and I heard that VROOOM of the carbs opening I was smitten !!

The car enthusiasts either had SHOs, fox body Mustangs or a Porsche (if you were willing to take the abuse from the neanderthal managers who were “only buy Ford” zealots). Once the first year gremlins were sorted, they were reliable (for a Ford) and perhaps the best all purpose sport sedan of the time. I love that Yamaha power plant and it is bulletproof, making sweet sweet sounds all the way to the little…”
