“This 599 is an earlier production as in the later production for 2007 the ceramic brakes became standard. Also, Ferrari jacked up the base price from $258k to $321k base price. Significantly increased the cost. These cars are appreciating fast. F-1 transmission is a very nice transmission in my opinion even though general public prefers the clutch version. Good luck.”

“My dad also has a Judson in his ’56 lowlight and got me hooked on 36hps. I currently have an Okrasa and just pulled a ’58 T2 36hp out of my Brasilia science project. I see at one point in picture 507 this Ghia had an Okrasa setup. I would have loved to talk to the owner/builder and hear their feedback on the differences. Does the motor still have the Okrasa 69.5 crank or upgraded (356/custom) camshaft with the Judson setup? Does it by chance have a the uber rare “high compression” domed VW…”

Among his fabulous cars (e.g. the first production Cobra) is the SWB Berlinetta that won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1961, the highest placing of a SWB at Le Mans.”

“A few years ago I took one down the Oregon coast, right after some seat time in a GT3. Same engine DNA, same urgency to rev, but the experience couldn’t be more different in the best way. Top down, rowing your own gears, flat-six at 9k RPM echoing off the cliffs… it turns every mile into an event. What a great Porsche. Here’s to the next owner racking up the miles on it.”

“I owned two 1976 Trans Ams back in the ’80s and ’90s: a 400 4spd and a 455 4spd. They are really special cars. I often notice TA owners leave the shaker hood scoops sealed, and I wonder why. It takes a few minutes to remove the plate and the intake noise completely changes the driving experience and adds some power. My friends would ask me to get on it just so they could hear the roar from the shaker scoop which sounded like it would suck in animals and small children if they were too close.…”

“The previous owner was a good friend of mine that has now gone to the garage in the sky. Seeing this brings up some great memories and I like to think he’s watching the auction from above. This was his final sale before he passed, he was pretty much in his last days during the auction. I was so pleased the auction went so well for him at the time.
