“This is Gene Winfield and VooDoo Larry quality imo. I like how there is just enough chrome trim left on the beltline, rear valance, and bumpers. With it being nosed, decked, shaved door handles, and the sectioned trunk lid. That and the frenching of the headlights and taillights. Leaves just the right amount of chrome.
The interior is super clean, the center console around the shifter, and the shifter itself reminds me of a mid 70s Camaro or Firebird.

“These California Highway Patrol Mopars were special cars. There were over 50 modifications Chrysler let CHP order on each of these cars that wasn’t available to the public. Things like presetting the torsion bars higher to compensate for the push bars on the front and the 413 wasn’t available on a civilian 880. These old Mopar squad cars are underrated and the best driving cars they made.”

“I’ve seen these cars in person when they were new at Straman’s over next to the Orange County Airport. The workmanship is superb. No one believes me when I say that there was a convertible CRX.
More importantly than that, no one believes there was EVER a teddy bear wheel made for any car – and I’ve told stories about them on a Volkswagen Cabriolet I once had. I have only ever seen ONE at a tire dealer. Never a complete set.

“Awesome car. I love pic 149 because it tells a story of what likely happened to most radio delete Camaros in the early 80s when these cars were cheap enough to be purchased by teenagers who would not be caught dead in a car with no tunes. I can see the kid with his dad’s hacksaw, tin snips and pliers lying on his back in that trunk going to town. A couple hours later, with his brand new Jensen Tri-Axials installed, he’s cruising around town with tunes blaring. Radio delete option be damned!!”

I got to see this car in person, and all I can say is WOWW!! This car is spectacular. Down to details like proper hose clamps, it’s just done so nicely and correctly. “Drag racing in the south in the 60’s I watched the advent of the lightweights. Lakeland Drag strip in Memphis had among others Herb McCandless aka Mr 4 Speed. I swear he could shift faster than an automatic! ! Car just shuttered when he slammed into gear. As I remember also circa 63 NHRA outlawed aluminum front caps? At the nationals people would tech and then go switch the entire front cap. NHRA got hip and would wait in staging area. With magnet in hand! Truth or consequence time!!”

“I kind of feel like the 997.2 Turbo S is a hidden menu item. So many people talk about 997.1 Turbos and 991.1 Turbos, but this remains akin to a secret for enthusiasts.
It has the smaller, more nimble feel of the 997 chassis coupled with the ferocity and traction of the PDK and AWD, and although these aren’t the Mezger engines they are stout.
This generation remains somewhat of a ‘if you know you know’ type of Porsche, and there is SO MUCH to absolutely love about it. GLWTA!”

“I have driven my black over red for 15 years, many times during Pebble car week and not once has anybody figured out it was an Ostermeir. The fuel door is perfectly contoured to the car,sits. Eli’s the belt line and it’s so small it’s barely noticeable. Very small deviation for an otherwise perfect recreation.

“John Weinberger had one of these in white at Continental Imports in La Grange, IL back in 1970. My dad was considering buying it, but I think at 5’-11” he couldn’t get comfortable in it. He ended up buying the fly yellow De Tomaso Mangusta John had, instead. That’s the car in which he picked me up at Orange County Airport when I was discharged from the Army in 1971. Sure wish he’d kept that car, or either of the two E-Types he owned (one of which he’d bought from Mr. Weinberger).”
