We were thrilled to join our friends at FCP Euro a few weekends back for their “Bavs & Brits” event, hosted on the iconic front straight of Lime Rock Park.
This collection of 11 cars and one truck comes to us courtesy of longtime BaT seller Private Collection Motors, who is representing them on behalf of the estate of F_Tundra. All but two are BaT alumni, and together make up but a fraction of the 58 auctions that F_Tundra won here in his nine years as a BaT member. This eclectic group of vehicles includes models from Germany, Italy, the UK, and the US covering the years 1954 to 2000. As part of the collection, some have sat idle and may be in need of sorting—we’ll note that in the individual listings where applicable. F_Tundra will certainly be missed, but we’re honored that the seller has brought this selection of cars back to rehome them with other members of the BaT community by selling them at no reserve.
Obscure 1950s sports cars always get our attention—the weirder, the better—and few are quirkier than the 760-pound, motorcycle-engined, front-wheel-drive Berkley Sports. Two examples sold here last year, and, curiosity piqued, we turned to the back issues of our favorite auto magazines to learn more about these funky pocket cars. We found ourselves fascinated by this illuminating road test from the February 1958 issue of Sports Cars Illustrated (now Car and Driver), and just had to share it with the BaT community.
