Here’s the Rennsport Collection, from Group C Curation

Over the years, Porsche has more or less laid claim to the term “rennsport,” but it simply refers to motorsport or “racing sport” in their native German. The Rennsport Collection, represented by BaT Local Partner Group C Curation, reappropriates the term in that broader sense, as it features eight late-model sports cars from one owner and his immediate family, all of which are inspired by racing in the grand European tradition. Porsches are not underrepresented, as they comprise more than half of the collection, and the pair of Ferraris and the Ford GT are models that squared off with contemporary 911s in various racing series.

433-Mile 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Weissach and 4k-Mile 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS

In recent generations, the twin-turbocharged, rear-wheel-drive GT2 RS has been the highest-performing regular production 911—substantially lighter than the Turbo, and significantly more powerful. The Rennsport collection features two examples; the first is a 2018 model with the $18k lightweight Weissach Package and magnesium wheels. This car is finished in white (like the “Plastic Porsche” prototypes of the factory racing team of yore) and features grippy Alcantara upholstery with Silver Grey, Platinum Grey, and Guards Red interior accents.

The second car is a 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, number 438 of 500 examples built, and is finished in GT Silver Metallic over a black and red leather and Alcantara interior. It is a Canadian-market example that came to the US in 2013 and seems to have been optioned with pretty much everything, if such a thing is possible with a Porsche. Equipment includes Adaptive Sport Seats, Sound Package Plus, Sport Chrono Package Plus, and PCM with navigation. Center-lock wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes were standard, and this car’s performance intentions were broadcast to fellow drivers with a high fixed rear wing along with a bare carbon fiber hood and rear intakes.

1,300-Mile 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, 2,800-Mile 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and One-Owner, 9,500-Mile 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Of GT3s there are three, all in RS trim. The first of the 991 generation is a 1,300-mile car from 2019 in Miami Blue over black leather and Alcantara. The 991.2 engine managed to squeeze an incredible 520 horsepower out of its 4.0-liter flat-six, sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed PDK transaxle. The 991.1 car is a 2016 model in Lava Orange over black leather and Alcantara, and is equipped with body-color seatbelts, the Lighting Design Package, and Sound Package Plus.

The 997.2 car is from 2011 and is finished in Gray Black with ample use of red graphics and accents both inside and out. This particular model is often lauded for being the last “analog” GT3, and 541 examples were made for the US market. The car in the Rennsport Collection has been with its original owner since new, and has covered less than 10k miles. This is a six-speed, three-pedal car, and its dry-sump, 3.8-liter Mezger engine was factory rated at 450 horsepower.

4,100-Mile 2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale and 3k-Mile 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista

This pair of mid-engine, V8-powered Ferraris is a perfect example of “similar, but different.” The 2015 car is a 458 Speciale, a package introduced in 2014 that improved upon the 458 Italia by reducing weight and boosting output to 605 horsepower thanks to a hypertensive 14:1 compression ratio and revisions to the intake system. Most importantly, the Speciale features a suite of active aero components. This example features blue and white NART-style striping over the top, and has been with its current owner for 10 years.

The 488 took the already-dizzying performance of the 458 to new heights by adding twin turbochargers to its flat-plane V8 and even more downforce to keep things in check. This example is a 488 Pista—lighter than the “base” model by some 200 lb. thanks to revised carbon fiber bodywork, and more powerful than even the 488 Challenge race car, with peak output of 710 horsepower and 567 lb-ft of torque. Its Rosso Corsa paint is accented by a black and silver center stripe, and the black cabin features large-sized carbon fiber racing seats selected by the original owner.

22k-Mile, One-Owner 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition

The Heritage Edition paid homage to the Gulf Oil livery of John Wyer’s Le Mans-winning GT40s, which were also the first racing cars to wear the iconic blue and orange scheme. Three hundred and forty-three cars were produced in the Heritage Edition in 2006, and this example accumulated 22k miles with its original owner.
