    “This example is all steel. The Fulvia coupe 1.2 were all steel up to VIN 018988 and all aluminium panels to the last one VIN 021436 So 2448 coupe 1.2 with aluminium panels.
    This one looks very original througout. For now I can only see that the tyres are not the original height 185/70R14 The original size is 145/80R14.”

    The Über had just dropped me off at the McBungalow when my phone rang. Saw that it was Klaus so I picked up. Let myself into the house while he grimly gave me the bad news. As suspected, the code the TT had thrown translated to something serious. Evidently Bank 1 had reported itself rich at idle and upon inspection Klaus had discovered the strong odor of fuel in the crankcase, a sure sign of a failing mechanical fuel pump. So I’d need a new one installed toot-sweet and unfortunately that job wouldn’t be cheap. Said he couldn’t get to it right away so I had a couple days to think about what I wanted to see happen, then he cleared his throat. Coldly reminded me we were talking about a fourteen-year-old Audi with over one-hundred thirty thousand ticks on the clock that wasn’t worth throwing a lot of money at anymore. Told me that, with respect, if it were him he’d sell it as is and find a newer replacement. Something with lower miles. Something maybe still under warranty. Okey-doke, Klaus. I’ll think about it.     “I have an extensive amount of hands on detailing and reconditioning experience with the W126 model over the past 25 plus years, and its so nice to see such a well preserved low mileage example. This is such a period cool color combination, and the brown leather is so clean and well preserved !!!
    I would LOVE to personally own a car like this, but I would probably double the mileage within the first year if I did. Such a great driving car, and in my opinion the W126 is way up high at the top…”

    The wagon sat crooked beneath the diner sign like a grounded cruise ship from the Nixon Administration. Mesa Tan paint. Fake woodgrain peeling near the tailgate. Chrome roof rack big enough to carry sheet metal or emotional baggage. The thing looked less parked than abandoned by history.

    1. Light gray colored dash panels
    2. Passenger airbag has Supra name on it
    3. VVTi featured on the 2JZ-GE engine (first time we see it before IS300)

    “This is amazing and as others have said should at least anchor a Fox collection. I especially appreciate @CoastsideCat ‘s comment noting that 131HP in 1979 was actually a big deal. We’ve become completely spoiled by the evolving technology that now gives us 1,000HP with clean emissions, albeit typically in 4,500lb behemoths.
    I nearly became a new Ford follower rather than jumping on the FWD Mopar developments at the time. The Fox chassis intrigued me as it solved the troublesome loading…”

    “Call me crazy, but I prefer this over the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport. You simply can’t use the Bugatti nor remotely explore the limits. This Prelude you can drive at 10/10 and have a blast. Driving a slow car fast is more appealing and easily doable during everyday driving.”
