    sludgo’s Mile Markers—Mile 223 You Should Know

This last Saturday evening I met my youngest at the rib place over by the mall. We’ve made it a regular date ever since he moved out of the McBungalow however many years ago. I enjoy seeing him and think he enjoys seeing his dear ol’ dad, but I know full well that in light of his instant-ramen-level cooking skills what he likely enjoys most is having a decent meal once a week, especially if I’m springing for it. No matter. I don’t mind. It’s become a highlight of my week. I always buy a couple of scratch-off tickets for us—the five dollar kind—and we sit in our favorite booth scratching away, hoping to win big bucks as we chat about this and that and nosh on our racks of baby backs and stacks of sweet Vidalia beer-battered onion rings before washing everything down with a Long Island iced tea for me and a Dr. Pepper for the kiddo. It’s a good time. Like I said, a highlight of my week.

These really are spectacular cars in every respect. Once you drive one, you never forget it. @seller needs no introduction here so bid with confidence. These have been woefully undervalued compared with similar era cars, but I believe all that is about to change as more people wake up to US landed examples like this, and the amazing amount of fun one can…”

This project has certainly helped me as a 15T Blackhawk mechanic to pick up aviation terminolgy easier. I wouldn’t have had the start I did without your help. My projects started small LOL, but have gotten bigger over the years. If anyone has any remaining questions, feel free to ask. “The Lexus LS430 was built at the moment when the pursuit of perfection and the economics of mass production briefly coincided. That window has closed; it may not open again in our lifetime. And so these cars matter—not for what they are worth in dollars, but for what they prove: that it was possible, that once, for six years in a factory in Tahara, Japan, human beings got as close to perfect as human beings have ever got in the building of a motorcar. And then they stopped, and we moved on……”

  • BaT Auction Success Story: bamiot’s Sunburst Gold M3 Boomerang — Explained

This Success Story comes to us from bamiot, who won this Sunburst Gold F80 M3 from casciomotors in a December 2025 BaT auction:
I had the fortune of winning this 2016 Sunburst Gold Metallic BMW M3, one of just two F80 M3s originally collected via Euro Tourist Delivery.  My younger brother originally built it for a client, who turned and sold it—it’s the second of his BMW builds that I’ve won. In this case, my brother and his shop Parts Score in Scottsdale, Arizona, had previously installed Pure Turbos Stage 2 turbochargers and KW4 coilovers, among other tweaks. The car had been further modified after a subsequent purchase in 2016 by other shops in California, I believe.

  • Yesterday’s comments of note: A Practical Look

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:

“Jimmy Don Ventura had owned enough unusual automobiles over the years to believe he understood the public. He’d driven a lime-green AMC Gremlin, a Triumph Spitfire that leaked oil with the determination of an East Texas mosquito, and a Plymouth Barracuda that had once stranded him in front of the Dairy Twin during the lunch rush. Every one of them had attracted comments, questions, and unsolicited mechanical advice from complete strangers.
    Then he bought Fred.
    Officially, it was a 1949…”

  • A Look at yesterday’s comments of note

A few of the comments that stood out to us yesterday:

“So an observation of a very obscure Honda factoid. This car has the dealer installed, recall program Takata black plastic guides still in place on the front seat belt latches. The Honda and Acura recall notice back then stated there were complaints about the front seat belts not latching properly. This was Takata’s solution. There was a rumor published at the time saying Honda’s president attributed the problem to us Americans spilling our soft drinks into the latches. Funny, he was…”

I tend to break the Gen V ACRs into three general categories. First are the more race-focused 3-speaker ACRs, with 456 produced. Second are the factory Special Editions — GTS-R, VooDoo II, Snakeskin, 1:28 and Dealer Edition — which account for 214 cars in total. Finally, there are the 290 GTC ACRs, a little over 100 of which…”

This Success Story comes to us from BaT member dustydangler24, who won this Porsche 930 Turbo Slant Nose from FinestVehiclesTraded in a December 2025 BaT auction:
I had been waiting a long time for the right slant-nose to come up for sale, and when this 1988 911 Turbo cabriolet M505 finished in Grand Prix White over Lipstick Red appeared on Bring a Trailer, I immediately knew it was the one. There was simply no way I wasn’t going to win it. A bunch of bids came in early, and I’m not going to lie—I had a moment of “uh-oh, this may get away from me.” But it landed right where I expected it to, and the rest was history.
