    “The childhood memories are strong with this one! GM Design did an excellent job of evolving the colonnade coupes for Buick and Oldsmobile toward the sheer look that began with the ’75 Seville. The Cutlass was the best selling car in the USA in 1976 with nearly 500K units produced. A neighbor had one in this color with bucket seats and I was thrilled to get a ride now and then. This interior is bonkers peak ’70s — I thought the “geometric weave” loose pillow luxe upholstery was only available…”

    BaT Auction Success Story: BMW X5—Can it Alcan? — Explained

    BaT member expeditionportal and his wife recently completed the Alcan 5000 rally in the 2011 BMW X5 xDrive35i that he won from StyleCars in a May 2025 BaT auction, and he wrote to us all about his experience:
    Like most car enthusiasts (and even non-car enthusiasts) will tell you, buying a late-model German luxury machine sight-unseen is not exactly the most brilliant idea. And planning to take such an unknown vehicle on a 5k-mile grueling TSD (Time/Speed/Distance) rally—the longest of its type in North America—was starting to sound a bit on the bonkers side.

    “In the mid 80’s I was driving my 1977 Porsche 930 home from O’Hara airport to Elgin, IL on I90 taking the Barrington Road offramp when I happened to look in my rear view mirror to find it completely filled with a Lambo Countach that appeared not have a driver. Then a thick arm came out the window pointing for me to turn right at Barrington Road. Then the Lambo passed me and turned right with the arm coming out again point left to turn on a country road.   • Understanding baT Auction Success Story: One R8, Hold the Chips

    This Success Story comes to us from BaT member Catman1978, who won this 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus Coupe from M.Dolby in a July 2025 BaT auction:
    Like many people, I was hooked on the Audi R8 when I saw it on the road for the first time in 2008. The body lines, the side blades, and the sound of its V10 were amazing. Over the years, I had dreamed of owning one, but life just didn’t align until recently. I’d been watching and bidding on cars on BaT for the last two years, but hadn’t made it to the “finish line” until a couple of months ago. I purchased a 2017 Plus coupe with 17k miles on it. To be honest, I had never driven one before the purchase, but I knew I’d love it.
