“These were never intended to remain stock, much like the ’66 427 Fairlanes coming without a Trac-Lok rear diff. These were intended to have headers and a bigger Holley mounted by the owner to let the big fella breathe, and once you do that, there’s no comparison between a BOSS ‘9 and any Cobra Jet 428 or 429, even with the same mods done to them.”

“I owned one of these (85, Black with a manual) back when they were relatively new and I absolutely loved the car.
The car was so much fun to drive and was totally at home on the highway.
Being a young guy living in Seattle during the 80’s and really into the music scene (which was on fire back then) friends and I frequently traveled up and down I-5 checking out the music in different cities and we always took the Merk.
I remember one time leaving Seattle late at night heading towards…”

“I have had many 105 series cars: GTV’s, Scalino’s, Giulia’s, a Spider and many Berlina’s. Years ago the Berlina’s, due to low value, served as donors for the 2L engine and limited slip diff. The styling is not a dramatic as the other 105 series cars, however driving them they hold as the best of the range! I love the 2L dash and driving at night…as the lighting in the dash is activated by a separate button…which makes the beautiful white dails light up! It’s a spacious comfortable fast…”

    “@WIZZZZ
I met Fred at Bonneville in 1963. He had set a 2-way record the previous year at 99.06 mph with his absolutely stock Corvair Monza. I had managed to go 107 mph with my stock 61 Corvair but needed bigger tires. Fred told me that Rambler Station Wagons had 15″ wheels that would fit Corvairs. There was a little junk yard on the outskirts of Wendover, Utah right on the state border with Nevada. I went down there and found a Nash Rambler in there with two 6.40 X 15″ tires (1 was…”

“Last summer the Eastern PA Chapter of the Audi Club did it’s annual covered bridges drive and ice cream run. A very fun and spirited ~150 mile drive. I show up in my 1989 80 Quattro, my wife drove our 2001 TT 225 Roadster, and a guy I had never seen before at any Audi event shows up in one of these. Jaws dropped. He was super nice, down to earth, and had no problem with any of us getting in and checking it out.”

“So an observation of a very obscure Honda factoid. This car has the dealer installed, recall program Takata black plastic guides still in place on the front seat belt latches. The Honda and Acura recall notice back then stated there were complaints about the front seat belts not latching properly. This was Takata’s solution. There was a rumor published at the time saying Honda’s president attributed the problem to us Americans spilling our soft drinks into the latches. Funny, he was…”

I tend to break the Gen V ACRs into three general categories. First are the more race-focused 3-speaker ACRs, with 456 produced. Second are the factory Special Editions — GTS-R, VooDoo II, Snakeskin, 1:28 and Dealer Edition — which account for 214 cars in total. Finally, there are the 290 GTC ACRs, a little over 100 of which…”

This project has certainly helped me as a 15T Blackhawk mechanic to pick up aviation terminolgy easier. I wouldn’t have had the start I did without your help. My projects started small LOL, but have gotten bigger over the years. If anyone has any remaining questions, feel free to ask. “The Lexus LS430 was built at the moment when the pursuit of perfection and the economics of mass production briefly coincided. That window has closed; it may not open again in our lifetime. And so these cars matter—not for what they are worth in dollars, but for what they prove: that it was possible, that once, for six years in a factory in Tahara, Japan, human beings got as close to perfect as human beings have ever got in the building of a motorcar. And then they stopped, and we moved on……”
