“I took my driving test in my Mom’s 75′ Grand Safari Wagon.(same body as this car). one of the longest cars ever built.. I had to parallel park it to get my license.
After going through a blinking red light, the state patrol officer said if you can get this car out of this space without turning over any of the traffic cones, he would give me my license.. My father was laughing so hard he almost fell down.
Some how I ended up with my drivers license..”

“The “Daytona 500” connection is quite plausible. Pontiac VP of PR Bob Emerick was a good friend of Bill France Sr., and Pontiac was the official pace car at Daytona for many years.
As part of that arrangement, speedway executives all drove new “loaner” Pontiacs, and many were allowed to “spec’ them any way they wanted. A loaded full-size wagon could have been part of this rotation.

“I’ve seen these cars in person when they were new at Straman’s over next to the Orange County Airport. The workmanship is superb. No one believes me when I say that there was a convertible CRX.
More importantly than that, no one believes there was EVER a teddy bear wheel made for any car – and I’ve told stories about them on a Volkswagen Cabriolet I once had. I have only ever seen ONE at a tire dealer. Never a complete set.

My first car was a Topaz Yellow ‘76 GL 4 door with 90k miles that I bought in 1980 from my local Saab dealership, Reinertsen Motors. It was $3000, but I traded in my 1 year old Motobecane moped, so net cash was $2400 (plus tax). “The gap between the order date and the serialized date on the Marti report reminds me that Ford workers went on strike in the fall of 1976.
I had factory ordered a new Econoline 150 around the same time as this Bronco and I took delivery in January of 1977. My van was the same Midnight Metallic Blue as this Bronco. A Great color”
