“I have an old family friend (89 years young) that I showed these pictures to that has been a wood carver all his life and has made some exquisite pieces of animals, custom stair cases, door frames and such using a chain saw and wood chisels and a lot of sanding. He was really impressed and spent a half hour flicking between the photos and commenting on the details presented here with the biggest smile. On our second pour of Blanton’s I joking asked him if he could do something like this and…”

“Thks auction has brought back some memories for me. Back in the mid/late fifties my parents had a 1952 Buick Roadmaster woody wagon, maroon with maroon leather interior. It was may fathers favorite car out of many Buicks he had owned. On many warm Sunday afternoons my parents would load me and my brother in the Buick along with a pick nick basket, and sometimes a cocker spaniel, and we’d go for drive. Often the drive took us to a place here in the hills of north central Pennsylvania know as…”

“I was a teenager HS student working at the corner service station. We had a local Dr that had one of these, his was the beautiful dark blue with matching padded top. He would pull in for gas, 27 gallon tank. After putting the car in “Park” he would tilt the wheel which would almost go horizontal on these and throw a small towel that covered the wheel from rim edge to edge. Gas up. Then………the fun would begin! Around to the car wash. Customers would be directed into the wash at the correct…”

“This is what the first-gen Celica liftback was meant to be. We got what was spec’ed for US market, same chassis but with the big 5mph bumpers and a much lower-performance engine. The 20R is great for a truck, but 100 hp at 4800 rpm isn’t as much fun as an 18R-G140 hp at 6500 rpm in a sub-2500 lb car.

Were the dash and console panels painted gray? I believe all the RA29s had woodgrain vinyl stickers, which harked back to the 2000GT’s beautiful woodwork, but perhaps that was also…”

    Martin L. Swig, February 8, 1934 – July 3, 2012.
A quintessential West Coast “car guy,” he organized the California Mille (1000 mile historic race car tour on Northern California back roads) in 1991 after discovering and driving Italy’s most-famous open road race (Mille Miglia) in 1982.

“Back in the year 2001, I had this long-held notion I’d own a BMW 2002 in the YEAR 2002. So, obviously I began my search too early and found one far too quickly. So, In the dead of Winter, I rented a car and drove from Michigan to Washington DC and bought an Inka 1973 2002tii with sunroof. I drove it home, missing the blizzard in Pennsyvanis by a half day.
A few years later, in 2005, when I moved to the West Coast I drove it to from Michigan, covering 5000 miles within a month — crossing…”

“Gotta love ❤️ 84.9 CENT/gal gas on 10 JAN 1994. Seriously, this 2nd Gen (1992) Honda Wagon is virtually identical to the one our family drove from that year to 2009 with zero issues. It was the reason I got another white 1993, virtually identical to this one, on BaT recently to relive the best car ever. It actually has a little “Grannymobile” sticker on the rear window. GLWTA!”

“100-4’s are amazing cars. One of the most beautify production Sports Cars every produced; especially with the windshield in the down position. On top of the Aesthetics, its an amazing car to drive on a winding country road; the sound, the wind whistling by your ears, and the the overall fun is exciting.
This car may not win a gold level medal at any concours shows but it will win the gold when it comes to having fun and attracting attention on the road or a local classic car show.

My wife and I drove our 1982 181k miles. Sold it in 2015 with 195k miles. Original owner only drove it 14k miles in his4 year ownership. He missed out.
I miss that car! Oh, side note! One day when I took her in for service there was one just like ours on the rack. She had 425k miles on it. Made me jealous.”

“TA rear spoilers rarely fit well, especially original cars, and even more so 79-81 cars with their urethane corner pieces. The later corner pieces also tend to appear as slightly different colors, and tend to fade to the point where the urethane is visible.
This car shows exceptionally well. I personally wouldn’t touch a thing in terms of overall appearance. This is certainly a rare offering amongst later TAs!”

It isn’t a working gas station, not really. Nobody’s pumping Sky Chief into a ’57 Ford Sunliner or wiping windshields with a rag that’s seen seven administrations. It’s a shrine. A perfectly scaled, lovingly obsessive recreation, right…”

“With the recent unveiling of the Dark Horse SC, it only cements that the GT350/R is the last of its breed. Naturally aspirated, special engine (high revving flat plane crank) with a high quality Tremec transmission. The car has already reached legendary status, often compared with a Porsche GT3. The sound is intoxicating, especially north of 6,000 rpms.”
