“Wow! If your drove this in 1966 you were a very successful owner-operator with great taste! That’s an extra long WB too meant for specialized loads. I watched the videos to see any sign of power steering so only Armstrong steering? My family was in the trucking business (in many aspects) and worked at a Kenworth store in NJ in the clean up bay. Much like old vs modern pickup trucks, they had evolved from bare bones working vehicles to modern, comfortable places to be. GLWTA #keepontruckin”

“From all the trips I did in my classic cars (60s Jaguars, air-cooled 911s or classic Ferraris) the most memorable one was in a TVR to the Monaco Classic F1 Grand Prix in the early 2000s. Speeding on the German Autobahn, crossing the Swiss Alpes and driving the curvy canyon roads in the Provence down to the French Riviera in my dream car as a student, the TVR Griffith 500.
Parking in front of the Hotel de Paris next to the dozens of multi-million Ferraris and Lamborghinis it was my little TVR…”

“I remember these. I’m 74 now, but In 1965 or so I saw an ad somewhere and sent off for a flyer. Dad was going to buy a Ford Wagon and I thought, cool. I was maybe 14 at the time but they sent me a brochure. I also got a brochure for a Piper Apache but didn’t buy one of them either (I did get my pilots license though in the 80’s). We got the wagon but not the camper. Slept in the back of the wagon many times. It was a beast.”

Then the new girl friend asks me over to meet her family and what does the Dad have, an Opel Manta in orange. He takes me out to inspect it and at some point hands me the key and says, have fun. Well, I did and from that point forward my world changed. Tried to talk my dad into letting me buy an MGB, that didn’t work until I bought my own in college and started auto X’ing with it. “A ton of period chrome doo dads added to this bike. I can see both sets of floor boards, all hand controls, grips, shifter pegs and foot brake, fork lowers, crash bars, most of the case covers, and others I might not be seeing. That dual exhaust alone was probably $1k. That’s what we did to these bikes back in the day!”

“My father and I test drove this exact colour combination 300SD when it was brand new in Vancouver British Colombia. He pulled over half way into the test drive and asked if I wanted to drive it. He recently passed away and when I saw this car it took me back to that moment in my life and it made me smile.”

My family had 3, my Dad’s, my Brother bought the red convertible in the pictures from the neighbor when he got out of the army and I had a red 69 Fastback in my early 20’s. The Maverick in the pictures my Dad bought new for my Mom and if memory serves, he paid $1850. Those were simpler times. Galvanized steel garbage cans, TV antenna’s on roofs and a Mustang in a lot of the driveways.”

“Bought a 1987 XJS new, Drove it from 1987 to 2009 almost everyday. Sold it with 320K miles. Changed oil every 2000 miles Castrol 20/50. Rust began to become an issue, back window and windshield developed leaks. I miss the car, it cruised at 110mph like nothing. Climbed hills like they weren’t there. Handling at high speeds was unbelievable. Between the V12 and the suspension a true great car to drive.”
