Bangkok, Thailand — An air-conditioned public bus driver lost control early Saturday morning, July 11th, 2026, mounting the sidewalk and crashing into a traffic signal control box and a roadside tree on Lat Phrao Road in Bangkok’s Wang Thonglang district, injuring at least 10 people.

The accident occurred around 7:13 a.m. near Lat Phrao Soi 112, in front of Bangkok Wittaya School, in the Phlapphla subdistrict. The bus, operating on Route 145 between Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal in Chatuchak and Praeksa Depot, was a light blue vehicle (Bangkok registration 16-2311 or similar markings). Its front end was heavily damaged, with shattered windows, after plowing into the utility box and uprooting a large tree.

Rescue teams from the Lat Phrao Fire Station and Poh Teck Tung Foundation assisted passengers. Ten people sustained injuries, eight women and two men, and were transported to nearby hospitals, including Petchwet Hospital and Lat Phrao Hospital. Among those treated were passengers ranging in age from their 20s to 60s, as well as the bus driver. Most injuries appeared non-life-threatening.

The driver, identified as Boonchai Chanasarn, reportedly told investigators that the bus experienced engine trouble leading to brake failure while carrying a light load of passengers. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and the vehicle’s mechanical condition as part of the ongoing probe. Traffic police from Chok Chai Station temporarily closed the left lane to manage congestion while awaiting a tow truck.

No fatalities have been reported. Officials from the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) are expected to cooperate with police in the full investigation.

Trump claims limited talks with Iran are underway …

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has claimed that limited negotiations with Iran are currently taking place, while indicating that Washington is not pursuing an aggressive new military escalation against Tehran at this stage. Trump’s comments come amid continued tensions between the United States and Iran and growing international attention on efforts to reduce the conflict. Recent reports have also indicated that talks involving Iran and Oman have been taking place, although no final agreement has been reached. According to Trump, the United States is currently keeping a lower profile on the issue and is engaged in what he described as limited negotiations with Iran. He also claimed that Iran is facing severe economic difficulties and suggested that the country is under significant financial pressure. Trump argued that Iran’s economic situation has deteriorated considerably, making it difficult for the government to meet some of its financial obligations. These remarks were presented as part of his argument for maintaining economic pressure rather than immediately launching another major military campaign. The US president also referred to the wider impact of the conflict on energy markets and American consumers. Oil prices have remained closely linked to developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important route for global energy shipments. Recent market reports have shown that investors have been watching diplomatic developments closely as hopes for an agreement affect oil prices. Trump described the confrontation with Iran as a complicated strategic contest, comparing the situation to a game of chess. He suggested that a solution could eventually be reached through negotiations and pressure. US officials have reportedly been considering different approaches to the conflict, including diplomatic engagement and economic measures. Recent reporting indicates that progress has been discussed in Iran-Oman talks, although significant issues remain unresolved. The latest developments come as Washington continues to monitor Iran’s military and economic position while seeking leverage in negotiations. For global markets, the outcome of the diplomatic efforts could be particularly important. Any agreement that improves the security of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz could influence crude oil prices and energy supplies worldwide. However, the situation remains fluid, and claims about the extent of direct negotiations have not been uniformly confirmed by all sides. Further diplomatic contacts are expected as the United States and its partners seek a way to reduce tensions and address the broader issues at the center of the conflict.

LHC acquits man sentenced to life for wife’s…

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court ( LHC) has overturned the life imprisonment sentence of a man convicted of murdering his wife, ruling that the prosecution failed to establish his guilt beyond reasonable doubt. Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh issued a detailed 19-page written judgment, allowing the appeal filed by the convict, Tanveer, and ordering his immediate release. According to the verdict, Tanveer maintained that he was on duty at a petrol station at the time of the incident and denied any involvement in the killing of his wife. The court observed that the prosecution had failed to produce reliable and convincing evidence to support the allegations against him. The judgment concluded that the available evidence was insufficient to sustain the conviction, leading the court to set aside the trial court’s decision and acquit the appellant. Tanveer had been sentenced to life imprisonment in 2022 by a trial court after being found guilty of his wife’s murder. In addition to the prison term, he was fined Rs400,000. He later challenged the conviction before the Lahore High Court, which has now ruled in his favor.
