Hua Hin promotes elderly quality of life with sports event
Hua Hin City Municipality has stepped up its focus on elderly quality of life with the launch of a sports relations event held on 2 April at the Hua Hin Grand Hotel and Plaza.
The event formed part of the 7th Quality of Life Development Programme for the Elderly and Pre-Elderly, opened by Deputy Mayor Pailin Kongphan. She was joined by Deputy Mayor Bussaba Choksuchat, municipal executives, council members, senior officials, and representatives from the Social Welfare Division.
Programme supports elderly quality of life
The initiative, organised for the 2026 fiscal year, includes seven activities alongside a study visit and knowledge exchange session linked to elderly schools. It is designed to improve elderly quality of life by supporting both physical and mental wellbeing, while also strengthening social skills and encouraging lifelong learning.
Around 150 participants from across Hua Hin City Municipality took part. The programme also provides opportunities for participants to share experiences with peers locally and from other provinces, helping to build wider community connections.
The sports relations event marked the final activity in the programme. Activities included traditional games such as “Phee Phung Tai”, performed by students from the Wilai Wai Wan elderly school, as well as a parade created by the participants themselves.
This was followed by a series of sports competitions aimed at building unity among elderly groups and fostering closer relationships between participants and Social Welfare Division staff.
Officials said the programme is intended to help participants apply what they have learned in their daily lives, while maintaining active and engaged lifestyles.
A certificate presentation ceremony for programme graduates is scheduled to take place following the conclusion of the activities.
