Abu Dhabi offers free three-month visas to Indian tourists

Abu Dhabi has introduced a special visa-fee waiver for eligible Indian tourists as part of efforts to boost tourism in the United Arab Emirates.

Under the initiative, selected Indian travellers will receive a waiver of the full UAE entry visa fee. The offer is available from August 1 to October 31, 2026, during a pilot programme that will cover up to 20,000 eligible travellers.

To qualify, Indian passport holders must book a travel package from India to Abu Dhabi. The package must include a stay of at least three consecutive nights at a hotel in Abu Dhabi and a return flight.

The booking must also be made through a participating travel partner or an online travel agency. Travellers cannot apply for the free visa independently or directly.

The visa-fee waiver will only be available to passengers who meet the specified conditions and book their trip through the designated travel channels.

The three-month initiative is designed to attract more Indian visitors to Abu Dhabi and increase tourism activity during the late summer and early autumn period.

Although the visa fee will be waived, travellers will generally remain responsible for the cost of flights, accommodation and other travel expenses, unless additional discounts are included in their selected package.

The initiative is part of Abu Dhabi’s broader efforts to introduce attractive tourism offers and strengthen visitor numbers.

The UAE has been seeking to support its tourism sector amid regional tensions and their impact on travel patterns. Authorities are introducing promotional packages and other incentives to maintain tourism activity and attract visitors from key international markets.

Gal Gadot says motherhood turned her into a ‘lioness’

Gal Gadot is opening up about how motherhood has deeply shaped her latest on-screen role. The actress admitted becoming a mother gave her direct access to emotions she couldn’t have understood otherwise. The “Snow White” star, who is a mother of four, plays a woman whose son gets kidnapped in her upcoming film “The Runner.” She reflected on the emotional weight of the role in a new interview with Modern Luxury magazine. Gadot explained that becoming a mother essentially turns a woman into a protector, almost like a lioness. She said nothing matters more than the safety of one’s children, regardless of background or beliefs. According to her, that protective instinct is something virtually every parent shares. She described the fear of being unable to protect your child as one of the deepest fears any mother carries. Gadot said that exact fear defines her character Maia’s journey throughout the film. She explained that Maia is not portrayed as a superhero with all the answers. Instead, she said, Maia makes mistakes, doubts herself and often feels scared. Despite that, Gadot noted, her character keeps pushing forward regardless of the fear she’s carrying. She said that quality is what she personally finds most inspiring about the role. According to Gadot, real courage is not about being fearless, but about continuing forward even while afraid. The “Wonder Woman” star also spoke more broadly about how motherhood has shaped her as a performer. She described it as the deepest emotional well she has access to as an actress. Gadot explained that motherhood gives her emotional insight that simply can not be reached through logic or preparation alone. She said those feelings are something you can only truly access by living through them yourself. Her comments offer a personal look into how her real-life experiences as a mother are influencing her more emotionally driven roles. “The Runner” is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 2, giving audiences their first look at Gadot’s latest performance.

Electricity tariff likely to increase by Rs1 per unit from next month

ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers across Pakistan may face higher power bills from next month as electricity distribution companies have approached the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) seeking a quarterly tariff adjustment. According to sources, the proposed adjustment could result in an increase of around Rs1 per unit in electricity prices during the upcoming quarter. The distribution companies have submitted their adjustment request to NEPRA, which will examine the figures and determine the impact on consumers under the applicable quarterly tariff mechanism. Sources said the expected increase is linked to the expiry of the existing quarterly adjustment relief. Under the current arrangement, consumers are receiving a relief of Rs1.99 per unit, which is scheduled to expire at the end of the current month. With the relief ending, electricity tariffs are expected to rise for consumers across the country from next month, subject to NEPRA’s approval of the proposed adjustment. The quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism is used to pass on changes in electricity generation costs and other relevant expenses to consumers. Depending on the regulator’s assessment, the resulting adjustment can either increase or reduce electricity bills. The proposed increase is likely to add to the financial burden on households and businesses already facing elevated electricity costs. Consumers are now awaiting NEPRA’s decision, which will determine the final impact on electricity tariffs in the upcoming quarter. NEPRA is expected to review the distribution companies’ submissions before announcing its decision. The final adjustment may differ from the amount initially sought by the power distribution companies following the regulator’s scrutiny of the data and applicable costs.

Bilawal calls AJK polls ‘bloody elections&#8…

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly criticised the recent Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, describing them as “bloody” and “rigged” while vowing to continue the party’s political and legal battle over the results. In a statement, Bilawal alleged that the elections were neither free nor fair. He claimed the polls were marred by rigging and violence, calling them “bullet elections,” “killer elections,” and “bloody elections.” Despite his criticism of the electoral process, Bilawal thanked PPP supporters for their backing, saying voters had enabled the party to secure victory on nine seats. He further alleged that several seats in Mirpur and Muzaffarabad had been “stolen” from the PPP and pledged to pursue all constitutional and legal avenues to reclaim what he described as the party’s rightful mandate. Bilawal said the PPP would not be discouraged by the election outcome and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to continuing its political struggle. “The Pakistan Peoples Party does not lose courage, does not retreat, and does not abandon the political field,” he said. The PPP chairman also announced that he would address a public gathering in Bagh district as part of the party’s ongoing election campaign. Inviting supporters from the Poonch region, Bilawal said he would visit the area on August 10 and urged party workers and supporters to prepare for the rally. His remarks come amid continuing political tensions following the AJK elections, with the PPP maintaining that it will challenge the disputed results through legal and constitutional channels.
