Pakistan’s national hockey team secured an impressive 4-3 victory over South Korea in the third Test match to complete a dominant 3-0 clean sweep in the Pakistan-South Korea Hockey Test Series. The thrilling encounter was played at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad under the supervision of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

The final match of the series showcased Pakistan’s determination and fighting spirit. South Korea started the game aggressively and took an early lead through Kim Hyung Jin in the 10th minute. The visitors maintained their advantage throughout the first half, going into the break with a 1-0 lead.

Pakistan responded brilliantly in the second half with an outstanding comeback. Hayat Zakaria leveled the score in the 32nd minute, giving the home side much-needed momentum. However, South Korea quickly regained the lead when Yang Ji Hoon scored in the 33rd minute.

The contest remained highly competitive as Pakistan continued to attack. Rana Waheed Ashraf equalized in the 45th minute before Kim Yong Bok restored South Korea’s advantage in the 50th minute. Refusing to give up, Pakistan displayed remarkable resilience as Abdul Rehman scored in the 55th minute to make it 3-3. Just two minutes later, Shahid Hanan netted the winning field goal in the 57th minute, completing an unforgettable comeback and sealing a 4-3 victory.

The win marked Pakistan’s third consecutive success against South Korea in the Test series, highlighting the team’s growing confidence and improved performances. The clean sweep is expected to boost the morale of the national squad as it prepares for upcoming international competitions.

Federal Ombudsman Naveed Kamran Baloch attended the match as the chief guest and appreciated the exciting contest as well as the commitment shown by both teams. At the closing ceremony, Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani presented a commemorative shield to the chief guest.

Several prominent hockey personalities, including PHF Development Committee Chairman Olympian Hassan Sardar, Selection Committee Chairman Olympian Samiullah Khan, and Pakistan Sports Board Director General Yawar Hussain, were also present at the event.

Pakistan’s impressive performance throughout the series reflects the team’s positive progress and offers renewed hope for the revival of the country’s rich hockey tradition. The comprehensive 3-0 series victory serves as an encouraging sign for Pakistan hockey and demonstrates the squad’s ability to compete at a high international level.

    PTI to refile contempt petition today

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has said the party will refile its contempt of court petition before the Supreme Court today and seek the formation of a bench at the earliest so that the matter can be heard within the next two days. Speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar said he met the court registrar at the Facilitation Centre regarding the petition. He said the registrar’s office had raised objections to the application, prompting the party to withdraw it and submit a revised petition. According to Barrister Gohar, the petition concerns alleged violations of court orders, including issues related to meetings with PTI founder Imran Khan. He said the individuals allegedly responsible for contempt had not been provided with a list of the allegations, which was among the concerns raised during the filing process. He said PTI had approached the Supreme Court seeking an early hearing and would now address the objections before submitting the petition again. “We will file the contempt petition again today,” he said, adding that the party wanted the bench constituted today so the case could be taken up the day after tomorrow. Barrister Gohar also stressed the importance of Imran Khan’s health, saying that ensuring his family members can meet him is essential. He referred to the Supreme Court’s previous directions regarding meetings with the PTI founder and urged authorities to comply with the court’s orders. He pointed out that today was scheduled as a meeting day and appealed to the authorities to allow the meetings to take place without disruption. He said the party had already fulfilled its commitment regarding the previous meeting and that no information or discussion from that meeting had subsequently emerged. The PTI chairman reiterated that the party wanted the matter resolved through the legal process and expected the relevant authorities to follow the Supreme Court’s directions. He said the party would continue pursuing the issue before the court until its concerns regarding the implementation of the orders were addressed.

    Dera Ghazi Khan: The Ghazi University, Dera Ghazi Khan observed National Minorities Day today on the special directions of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad. The event, organized by the Directorate of Students Affairs and hosted by Prof. Dr. Arshad Munir, brought together members of the non-Muslim community and university officials to highlight the equal rights, religious freedom, and contributions of minorities in Pakistan. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by an M.Phil scholar from the Department of Islamic Studies, followed by the recitation of verses from the Injeel (Gospel) by Mr. Boota Masih. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim then presented a Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Thereafter, the National Anthem of Pakistan was played, with all participants standing in respect. In his welcome address, Prof. Dr. Arshad Munir highlighted the significance of National Minorities Day in Pakistan. He acknowledged the historic contributions of the non-Muslim community to the establishment of Pakistan and their continued role in strengthening the nation. On behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad, he extended an open invitation to members of the non-Muslim community to visit Ghazi University and enrol their children for higher education, assuring that the university would provide full facilitation and support in this regard. Two documentaries were screened during the event. The first showcased the establishment and progressive transformation of Ghazi University under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad. The second, prepared by the Directorate of Students Affairs, highlighted the efforts of non-Muslim personalities and movements that played a vital role in the creation of Pakistan and in its subsequent development. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Saleem Ilyas expressed gratitude to the university administration for inviting members of the non-Muslim community and honouring them. He stated that minorities in Pakistan enjoy complete liberty, freedom of livelihood and worship, and equal rights alongside citizens of all other faiths. Mr. Boota Masih also thanked the university for the respect and affection extended to the community. He said non-Muslims feel comfortable and content in Dera Ghazi Khan, actively participate in local festivities, and remain an integral part of the social fabric. Extending a gesture of interfaith harmony, he invited all participants to visit their church. A cake marking National Minorities Day was cut by the honourable guests, symbolising unity and equality among people of all religions. Refreshments were also served to the participants.     Bank operation manager, accomplice arrested over K…

    KARACHI: Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of cash from a private bank’s ATM on Aram Bagh Road. According to police officials, the suspects include the bank’s operations manager and one of his associates. The arrests were made during an investigation into the ATM robbery. Police said they recovered Rs29.74 million from the suspects. The recovered amount is believed to be part of the cash stolen from the ATM. Investigators said the suspects allegedly gained access to the ATM by opening its lock. They then attempted to prevent the security cameras from recording their activities. According to officials, the suspects placed chewing gum over the CCTV camera. This was allegedly done to obstruct the camera’s view and conceal the theft. Police said the suspects subsequently took around Rs53.7 million from the ATM. The involvement of the bank’s operations manager has emerged as a key development in the case. Investigators are examining how the suspects obtained access to the ATM and whether anyone else assisted them. Police are also reviewing available CCTV footage and other evidence to establish the sequence of events. The recovered cash has been taken into custody as the investigation continues. Authorities said further investigation would determine the exact role of each suspect and help identify any additional individuals who may have been involved in the theft.
